May 8th 2008 cruise

We'll be cruising on May 8th! Finally...someone else who'll be on our cruise. Each time I searched previously, I couldn't find anyone. We're doing our own version of land and sea. We'll be at the VWL for 2 nites, 3 nites on the Wonder and then 3 nights at OKW. Its just my DH and myself, celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary. How about you?

Yup...Us too!! We are doing our "own version" of the land and sea also! We are DVC members so we are "going home" to SSR for a night before, and 4 nights following the cruise!

Looking forward to it!

Hope we get a few more... I PM'd the lead on this thread to have our thread linked on the main board.

It would be fun to do Fish Extenders etc. in our group, so let's hope more pop in to say Hi!

We are planning on booking this cruise very soon. It doesn't seem like it is a very popular cruise for Disers huh? I will be travelling with my wife and our 2 girls 8 and 1.

Have you booked your cruise, Castaway JP? I enjoyed the You Tube Cruise Video! I'm hoping that we get more Dissers before May. I booked my Palo ressie early this morning with no problem so I'm wondering if our cruise is lightly booked.

:O)
Maybe we will all get upgraded to suites, since no one else will be on the ship! HAHA

Hope more people eventually post here!

A suite would be nice...quite a few steps up from our "secret porthole" cabin. You can be in charge of the upgrades DbleTheFun! LOL! Tell us more about the fish extenders. This is our first Disney cruise.

HAHA... ya, good point we are 2 cabins... at category 12 and a category 6... not much hope for a suite either! HEE HEE... but a girl can dream!

As for the fish extenders, we are first time DCL cruisers too, but I read so much about them on here, that I thought it would be fun! Outside each room is a "fish" that holds each day's navigators etc. and you can put an organizer hanging from it which has pockets for each member of your family. (There are pics on some threads in the main board)... you get a few items from dollar stores etc. and put "Treats" in each pocket for your fellow DIS'ers throughout the cruise... kind of a like a little surprise!

It sounded like fun to me!

We are also sailing on May 8. We are just doing the cruise this time, no WDW.:sad1: Oh well next time.

Can't wait! This will be our first Disney Cruise and we are counting down the days. :cool1:

Our crew includes me, DH, DS14 and DS9.

I had been waiting for someone to make a post and then I forgot about it.. Anywho, I will he there.. I am doing a couple of days at Disney before hands and then the 7th at the beach and the the cruise.. I am super excited. It is my first Disney cruise too.. I am going to be swiming with the dolphins for the first time.. And it will be the first time getting spa treatments.. I am so ready..

My DD11 and DS7 will also be joining the fun on this cruise. It is our first and I am having a blast over planning (as usual), we plan on coming in the day b4, and I am still working on the airline tickets, hotel and rental car. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is going to be a wonderful Birthday present for myself (May 8th) and Mother's Day also, oh yeah and great memories for the kids too!

Oh Wow, I just realized after Mrs.CaptJackSparrow's post that May 11 is Mother's Day. I swear all I see when I look at the calendar for May is Disney Cruise. :lmao: Well, what a great way to celebrate even though it will be the end of our trip. I'm sure I can find plenty of things in the shops onboard to suggest for Mother's Day gifts.

Okay, so do any of you who have DCL'd before have any tips or suggestions for us newbies? I can't wait to here them.:goodvibes

We haven't booked yet... :guilty: We are waiting on a refund check then we will for sure. We haven't cruised since November and we are getting the fever! We are thinking of adding a day at WDW after we get off the ship, maybe Animal Kingdom for a half day. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks for watching the video! I've already started planning for the next one!

We will be celebrating my birthday too... kind of... since it is the Monday after we get off the ship, so we will still be at WDW... but it's kind of a BDay/Mothers Day trip!

Super excited... hopefully we get a small group of us here that can share ideas/tips/info leading up to our sail!

As for transportation, we booked a private transfer from SSR to the port and then back again for our group (There are 6 of us)... that way we can get in a bit earlier than the DCL busses, but dont have to make my DH drive!!!

:O)
Our group consists of Myself (36), DH (35) our twin boys who will be 16 months old and our Nanny (21) with her sister (20) joining us. (they have thier own room, but will be around to give DH and I a bit of down time if needed)

It seems like we all have reason to celebrate! Our anniversary is May 11th , and we'll also we celebrating the end of my radiation treatments (March 31). For me it is a celebration of life!

Due to prices in flights to and from our hometown airport (which is pretty small) I think we might stay an extra day and fly home Monday morning. All the flights coming home on Mother's Day from Orlando are $150 more expensive (x3) than leaving Monday am and being home by noon.

So does anyone have any ideas where to stay the day b4 our cruise and on the night before we leave? How about info on rental cars or advice on shuttles? I looked up the Sheridan located right by the Orlando airport (not sure about it though it is 1 1/2 stars per Expedia) and they offer transportation to the Port for $30 roundtrip.

Also I have heard about codes for rental car discounts does anyone know of any? I would possibly want to get a rental on Sunday since we will be off the cruise in the am and have all day to explore!

I am sure I have a million other ?s but here are just a few to start today!

We're using the DCL bus from VWL to the port. I have to start looking for a rental car from the port to WDW since we're spending 3 days at OKW after the cruise. If I come across any deals, I'll post them. We'll probably rent a compact or mid-size since its just the 2 of us.

There's a thread on the cruise forums regarding places to stay in the port area. You could probably get a 1 day rental car at an inexpensive rate. Look for a post by Shirley at The Perfect Gift Florist where she gives valuable info on the Port Canaveral area. The post is called Helpful Information for You by snelsonbrown. Sorry, I'm not good at adding links from other threads.

Congrats to everyone celebrating something! I'm so happy for you, DisDee! You really have something to celebrate.

I was on DCL website today and was messing around with my cruise plans and was surprised to find so many activities still avail. I always heard you should book things right away so you had your choice of times, but it seems a lot of things are still pretty open. Is this normal? I know it's still awhile off but I made sure I was online right at midnight when my reservation window opeaned. I wonder if this sailing isn't selling quite as much as some other dates. Any one have any thoughts on this?
