Day 3 (May 7th)
Now the weather in Florida has been a little disappointing, so when we woke up Saturday morning, I expected the worse
Turned out to be a gorgeous day
We got up about 7:30am and left the hotel about 8:30am. We obviously were early, so we first drove down to the port to see the Magic for the first time. What a beautiful ship
We took some pictures and then headed over to Budget to return our car. There were people arriving that had just gotten off the ship and had a blast. We got a shuttle pretty quickly and headed over to the port around 8:45am. I told my DH that this was WAY to early, but you know how men can be
We got dropped off and I could tell the man there was a little irritated with us... oh well. Needless to say, we were the first ones in line at the gate. About 20 minutes later, a couple of other groups, who happens to have posted on our cruise thread showed up. Time went by quickly since we were chatting away and about 10:00 they took our bags and then proceeded into the terminal. It was very exciting to walk into the terminal and up the escalator. We were the first ones in line to check in, which took place about 10:30 and then we were second in line to board (there was a kid saving a place for him & his Dad). We walked around ther terminal, taking pictures and meeting fellow DISers that I had been chatting with over the past year.
About 11:30, they started boarding, starting with the handicap passengers. We walked onboard, took a quick picture and then heard our names announced. I hope it comes out on my video camera
We went directly to Rockin Robin to change our dining rotation and make a Palo's reservation. We got the day and time for Palo's and rotation changed from PLA to APL, which was great. We walked over to Parrot Cay for lunch and then over to the pool for the girls to have a quick swim. DH and I had our first foo-foo drink and I finally felt like we were on vacation. At 1:30, we headed down to our cabin and was surprised to see a gift from Dreams Unlimited. We also had ordered the champagne & desserts, which the girls promptly ate all the chocolate covered strawberries
I was disappointed that our luggage hadn't arrived and we decided to explore a little more before heading to our DIS meet at 3:00pm.
We had a great turnout at the DIS meet, about a dozen families. One of our fellow DISers made great buttons for all of us, including the kids. We had some drinks and really enjoyed everyone's company. About 3:30ish, we headed back to our room before the emergency drill. This was VERY painless and enjoyed laughing with the other people in our group. About 15 minutes later, we headed back to our room and finally was able to do some unpacking. I immediately put up the over-the-door shoe holder which was great. It's amazing all the little things you have that take up space. We got dressed and headed to our first dinner at Animator's Palate. Our tablemates ended up being the two couples that were right behind us in line before boarding. I was starting to think they were stocking us
I took pictures of the menus to help me remember what I ate
Our servers were Steve from Trinidad and Lisa from Scotland. They were a GREAT team
I had the grilled Bay Scallops for appetizer, mixed green salad and then the grilled ginger-lime swordfish steak, which was delicious
The girls ate with us for about the first 40 minutes and they wanted to explore the ship more. We actually had a lot of meals like that
After dinner, DH wanted to change and then we walked around the ship more. I think we stopped in Sessions for a drink before heading back to our room for the night. My tummy was giving me trouble and I didn't have such a good first night. It did get better.... The girls were back in the room by midnight and then into bed thinking of all the great stuff we would be doing the rest of the week
Tomorrow.... Key West
