Hello all,
Just got back from quite the gourmand's trip to WDW! Everything was awesome...well that's my review-Hope you enjoyed it!
KIDDING!
The cast, me JK-26yrs, future Disney Bride Karen-24yrs. 7th trip in 6 years for us. Laura (Karen's sister-20yrs and her boyfriend Adam-23yrs. 1st trip ever for them! (Rookies!
Prologue-We had ADR's for about ninety percent of our meals. It's definitely the way to go since we did see a few frustrated people leave the hostess table when told of a 30-40 minute wait.
We did not stay on site therefore we were not on the dining plan. we stayed at the Sheraton Vistana Resort. It was really nice.
Karen and I getting married at Sea Breeze Pointe on May 8 2007. We will definitely be on the dining plan for that trip since it is such an awesome deal.
Sunday 7 May 2006-EPCOT.
Lunch at NINE DRAGONS-We did not have an ADR for this meal. We were walking by and figured we should try it.
Both couples had the lunch sampler for two which includes either hot and sour soup or wonton soup, honey sesame chicken and canton pepper beef, stir fry vegetables and a big bowl of white rice.
Adam, Laura and I had the hot and sour soup and Karen had the wonton soup. The hot and sour was quite spicy but extremely delicious. Though my lips were burning a little, I kept wanting more! Karen enjoyed the wonton soup, nothing super special though. Really, how can you improve a basic wonton soup?
Okay, let's get to the main course. OMG! Everyone at the table scarfed the chicken and beef. The honey sesame chicken was perfect with a perfect coating of honey to sesame seed ratio. Perfectly cooked and melts in your mouth. Same for the beef. Very saucy and tender! I had never had either of these dishes before and was very surprised.
I did not partake in the vegetable but the others did. They stated that they were very good and was a great addition to the sampler.
Grade 5/5
Dinner at LE CELLIER-Second best meal of the trip!
Adam, Laura and I had the Cheddar Cheese Soup to start and Karen ordered the Steakhouse Caesar. Of course the Cheese Soup is to die for with the Pretzled bread. Karen said the caesar was excellent as well. Karen prefers caesar salads that are more oily then creamy which this one is.
We all had the 7oz Filet Mignon with maple BBQ sauce and the cream cheese mased potatoes. WOW!!! Karen and I have had this before and thought it was good then. It seemed better this time. The potatoes were perfectly mashed and the combo with cream cheese gives it good oomph.
The steaks were cooked to perfection. All four of us ordered them medium. They could not have been more medium. However, Karen and I will probably order them medium rare next time, just to see of we can squeeze out more flavour
Laura ordered the Chocolate Mousse (Moose) from the kid's menu. It was very cute in it's presentation, you know...looking like a moose and all! She thought it was very good and would order it again.

Monday 8 May 2006-UNIVERSAL STUDIOS and IOA Day (I know, I can just hear the boos and hisses now but we can take it!)
Adam and Laura went to MYTHOS at IOA and said it was quite delicious and would return. Something about a Risotto but I wasn't listening since Karen and I went to RICHTER'S BURGERS at USF. I wasn't listening since the double cheeseburger I had packed my orifices with meat. Nice description eh!? Sorry!
Dinner at OHANA'S-BEST, I say BEST meal of the trip!!!!!(this is where we are going to treat our wedding guests for the reception next year).
Okay, where do I start? Maybe with the only none exciting part of the meal, the salad. It was good but we did not dare ruin our appetites with empty vitamins!
Fried Wontons were sooooooo good! So salty and delicious. Dipping sauces seemed of high quality and the chips went really well with them.
Sweet and sour shrimp were very outstanding as well. One minor complaint though, why the heck do I have to peel them myself? It prevents me from eating them quickly! I guess slowing the pace down by putting me to work isn't a bad thing HAHAHAHA! (the peeling of the shrimp is not an issue for me, I was just kidding!)
Honey Coriander Wings........(all these dots represent drool at the mere thought of these delicious items!) What can I say about the wings? Superbly outstanding? Yeah, I'll go with that. Very sticky though, which is okay because by then, we were served the hot towels!
To be honest, the skewered meats were excellent but were not the highlight for us. The sausage, steak and pork were awesome. The turkey was okay. The steak was perfectly cooked and marinated. They did not give us a steak knife since they probably know that we did not need one. The steak was so tender that it collapsed under the butter knives from the table. Delicious!
Okay, know for the highlight.....The scalloped potatoes!!!!I can't even describe these for you since it was just a blur before they were in my stomach! Sorry! They are that good!
By the time the bread pudding came by we were stuffed. We managed to finish the one they brought us but we did not ask for a second. The bread pudding is absolutely delicious!!! Warm and delectable.
Grade 6/5
(yes it is that good).
Tuesday 9 May 2006-Disney Studios.
Lunch at Pizza Planet-
Karen and I shared the Woody Meal Deal and Laura and Adam had the Buzz's Meal Deal. To be honest, I really enjoy the pizza and salad here. Nothing special mind you but it's a good lunch!
Grade 3/5
Dinner at the Sci-Fi Dine In Café- Service was kinda slow here however, our server was very friendly and personable which for me offsets the slowness.
Laura and I had the BBQ chicken sandwich. It was good I guess. I would not order it again. It was very big though which is good since it wasn't that bad.
Adam had the reuben sandwich. He seemed to enjoy it and there was plenty of it. Side note regarding the sandwiches-anyone notice that Sci-Fi seem to be stinge-ing on the fries. I really did not get that much. I would expect more for 14.19$ for a sandwich and fries.
Karen had the Shrimp Penne Pasta. She said it was good and full of shrimp. Not by Red Lobster's standards though hahaha!
We all had Shakes which were delicious and lots of it. Adam and I had the Strawberry, Laura and Karen had the cookie's and cream. Delicious!
Again though, this place is starting to make me understand why so many people on the DIS are complaining about it. The bill was pretty hefty and the service slow. The server took awhile to bring the bill out. (pet peeve)
Grade 2/5
Wednesday 10 may 2006-Animal Kingdom-Let me just say that attendance at this park has increased ten-fold. It was so busy there, it caught me off guard. Expedition Everest rocked!
Lunch-Rainforest Café
I had the crabcake sandwich. It was good, not great though. The crab mixture was heavy in the crab which is always a plus.
Laura had the Brave New World Pizza. It was one of the better pizzas around. Excellent chicken and BBQ sauce make this very tasty. Big portion as well.
Adam and Karen had the Bamba BBQ Wrap. Very delicious, based on the reaction of Adam and Karen and the little nibble I had, I would order it. The wrap mixes very well.
Grade 3/5
Dinner at BOMA.
After hearing so many good things about this place, expectations were very high. The food, though exotic was very good.
Highlights-Watermelon Rind Salad and Potato Salad. Prime rib and Durban roasted chicken.
Lowlights-Zebra Domes. I cannot understand why this is so popular. It is a purely average dessert.(please no flames)
We would probably not come back here for awhile. Like I said, it was good but not super. As Buffets go, it is the highest quality buffet around.
Grade 3/5
Thursday 11 May 2006-Blizzard Beach and Epcot.
Lunch at San Angel Inn- What a pleasant surprise! We were expecting to go to the Cantina San Angel. However the clouds were coming by and the rain was starting. So we walked in to the Inn.
The table was dressed with a huge basket of tortilla chips and individual bowls of delicious salsa. Very excellent salsa and the chips were warm and tasty!
We had standard fare. I had the pork tacos (Tacos Al Pastor) and they were excellent. It came with pineapple chunks for topping mmmmmm!
Laura and Karen had Tacos Al Carbon. Very full fo chicken and a side dish of guacamole and sour cream.
Adam had the plato mexicano. Huge plate of mexican classics like taco, quesadilla and enchilada. Excellent meal. Everything was delicious and tasty.
Grade 4/5
Dinner at Les Chefs De France
We all had the French Menu. The Onion Soup was chock full of Gruyere cheese. It was delicious. However it was a little cold. It seems to me that a lot of people order this and ours were probably made way before serving it, which is unavoidable I guess.
The Rotisserie Chicken was perfectly cooked and tasty. The potatoes were awful compared to the roasted potatoes that this meal used to include. We were very disappointed.
The creme brulee was awesome. Not much more to say.
Next time we come here, It'll be on the Dining plan, so we can try something new.
Grade 3/5
P.S. Our ADR was for 7pm, which made for a perfect exit time for illuminations...what a nice show!
Friday 12 May 2006-Magic Kingdom and Disney Studios.
Lunch-Casey's Corner Beef hotdogs and fries. Not much to say. Good side cheese sauce though. I was very much looking forward to the sauerkraut but for some reason, they didn't put it out. ?
Dinney-Hollywood Brown Derby (fantasmic package)
What a fun little place this was, pricey though.
For apps, Adam and I had the Sake Crab Cake. I would get this again. It was delicious. Perfect blend.
Laura and Karen had the portobello Goat cheese tortellini. They both enjoyed this immensely. Excellent use of the goat cheese.
For entree, I had the Roasted Veal Chop. I was very disappointed with this. The spaghetti sqasu was awful and the actual chop was so fatty. I guss that's what I get for ordering veal!
The other three had the Filet Mignon. Karen and Adam's steak was cooked perfectly however, Laura's steak was a overdone. She politely sent it back. her new one was not that much better but she ate it anyway, not wanting to cause a scene. It was still good she said but not the way she wanted it.
The dijon crushed potatoes were excellent.
The dessert for three of us was the macadamia praline cheesecake with blood orange sauce. mmmmmm blood orange sauce! An excellent dessert!
The fourth had the grapefruit cake, apparently very fresh and moist as well.
Grade 4/5
Well that's it! All in all, it was a very good trip for food. I am so glad we discovered OHANA'S!!!!!!!!
It was soooooooooooooooooooooooo good!
Please, if anyone at all has any question...feel free! I would love to talk about the restaurants and any specifics that people may want to know about.
JK, Karen, Laura and Adam
P.S. If there any spelling mistakes, sorry, I did not proofread the review since I was kinda tired of writing it.
