I recently took my first solo trip to WDW. Here's a trip report on that:

May 6
My Southwest flight arrived early at MCO on Saturday morning. I didn't have any luggage checked so I went straight to the Magical Express. No lines, and I got on a bus right away. I checked in quickly at Pop Century and my room was already available. I dropped my bags off there, got my stuff ready for the day, got a snack at the food court, and caught a bus to MGM.

Once there, I got a fast pass for RnRC and waited less than 20 minutes for TOT. I left the park and found the bus to the Wide World of Sports so I could pick up my stuff for the Minnie Marathon 15K race the next day. It was a very small expo, but there was some good stuff there and the goody bag was great!

I headed back to MGM after I was done there, and rode Star Tours with no wait, and then rode RnRC with my fast pass from before. TOT wait was still short so I went on that again. I left the park and walked over to Epcot. At that point, I was starving, so I got chips in England. I admired some of the artwork from the Flower and Garden Festival while having my snack. I then went to Future World and rode JIYI. I went to check out Soarin', but the fast pass times were for later that night, and I planned to leave before then. But I rode Living with the Land instead. I took a look at the fish in The Living Seas and then went over to Test Track. I went back into the World Showcase after that for the rest of my evening. Got a pretzel in Germany and did a little shopping here and there.

Even though I had snacks throughout the day, I decided that I needed a real dinner before the race. So I got a burrito at the counter service place in Mexico. I rode the boat ride there, too. I was done for the day after that and headed back to the hotel since I had to be up bright and early the next day.

May 7
I got up and got ready for the 15K around 4:30am. I was surprised that I was wide awake at that hour. Had some water, orange juice and an energy bar and I got a taxi to the start of the race at the Animal Kingdom. Waited around for the race to begin and then at 6:30 we were off! The first part of the race was kind of boring, but running through MGM and Epcot at the end was great, even though I was definitely starting to feel the heat at that point. I was happy that I was able to run the whole time, only stopping for water, and I finished in under 2 hours.

Got my medal and post race snacks and caught a bus back to Pop Century. I thought that I would be tired, but I wasn't, so I hung out by the pool for a while. I couldn't relax for too long knowing that I was so close to the WDW parks, so I showered and was back on a bus to the Magic Kingdom. I decided to take a monorail ride around to the resorts since I knew the park would be pretty crowded at that time. Then I headed into the MK.

I can't remember the order of everything I did that day, but the waits were pretty long for most of the rides at that time, so I think I grabbed a fast pass for Space Mountain first. I was able to see a few of the shows instead, like Stitch's Great Escape, Philharmagic, Tiki Birds and the Country Bears. I got a late lunch at the Columbia Harbor House and relaxed there for a little while. I was able to ride most of the popular attractions with fast passes throughout the day, like all of the mountains. Also explored Tom Sawyer's Island and the Swiss Family Treehouse, which I had never done before. Got a Dole Whip at some point, too. Went to the Haunted Mansion and it was just about time for Spectomagic, but I decided to skip that and had dinner at the Columbia Harbor House again. It was also an Extra Magic night, so I got a wristband, even though I knew I wouldn't last until 1am. Rode Buzz Lightyear and then it was just about time for Wishes, and I was able to walk right on Space Mountain again. I was getting tired so I rode the Jungle Cruise and then was on my way out.

May 8
I wanted to get up early for the Extra Magic Hour at the Animal Kingdom, but I woke up with a sore throat and the beginnings of a cold, so I was moving slower than normal that morning. I made sure everything with checking out and the Magical Express was in order, got a quick breakfast at the food court, dropped my bags off and headed to the AK.

Went straight to Expedition Everest and went through the standby line, since the wait was fairly short, but I also got a fast pass for later. Rode Dinosaur after that and it was already time to return to EE. I was hoping that the single rider line would be open, but it wasn't, so I got a fast pass again. I walked around for a little bit and then saw that EE did open up the single rider line. So I didn't even use my fast pass and rode it 9 times in a row. I had to leave after that to catch the Magical Express, but I didn't allow myself any time for lunch.

Everything went smoothly again with the ME, but I wasn't feeling too great on the bus ride, due to not eating and my throat hurting. But I got some food at the airport and felt better as I waited for my flight. All went well there and I made it home safely that night.

While I do enjoy going to WDW with other people, I have to say that I had a wonderful time going by myself. I was able to do whatever I wanted to do, whenever I wanted to do it.

Sounds like a great quick trip !! I also love sharing WDW with my family, but cherish those times I've had to walk around the parks all by myself ! I hope DNeph and I are as lucky as you were on our last Monday at AK - we would be happy with 2 or 3 rides on EE before heading back to the ME bus - 9 rides would be heaven !!! :cloud9: :smooth:
PS: how did you like POP?

I have been many times with family and extended family and friends but I am thinking about doing a solo trip this summer. Maybe I should?

I'm impressed with people that can go solo and with people that can do marathons. Great report. thanks for sharing.

Great trip report - thanks! :cheer2: I had to laugh at not feeling so well on ME after riding on EE 9 x and then not thinking that had anything to do with it! :teeth: True EE fan - good for you. Glad you tried a solo trip - everyone should! :thumbsup2

Thanks for reading!

Pop was great. My room was in a perfect location in the 50s section, very easy to find and close to everything. Food court was clean and not too crowded when I was there. And their bus system seemed good, too. Never really had any long waits.

Ha ha, riding EE so many times could have contributed to me not feeling well, but I love the ride, so I think that's why I blame lack of food (and probably lack of sleep as well, now that I think about it!). :)

I definitely recommend taking a solo trip sometime. It's fun sharing the magic of WDW with family and friends, but you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much fun it can also be by yourself.
