May 6, 2007 - 4 night Wonder

We made it home last night. No luggage lost, but we can't seem to find 3 of our pirate bandannas or our swim goggles.

Sorry we missed the boat meet on Sunday. Amelia, my DD, came down with sinusitis (we think) Sunday morning, and was miserable all day until she finally fell asleep from exhaustion at 6:30pm while we were eating dinner (Parrot Cay). By, Monday she seemed fine, but we kept her in the room most of the day in Port (Nassau) just to be on the safe side.

We really enjoyed the last 2 days of the cruise at Castaway Cay. I think we took home about five pounds of sea shells and/or sand to remember it by.

We booked our next cruise while onboard in order to get the discount and onboard credit. We will then look to see if we want to sail next year (2008) or just move the date into 2009 when those are sailings are released. If we find we can't afford it, we can always cancel and get our deposit back.

Hey, Disney PHD, I'm pretty sure I saw you sitting at the back during the DVC member reception but you ran off afterwards before I could get over and introduce myself. I thought I recognized you from your photo...was that you?

Mr. PhD says that was him. He came in late (because Anna was swiming) It was just him because I was in the room with a sleeping kid. He was so happy with his bag he ran off to show me. Well that and it was close to dinner time.

How much did you actually save by booking on board? My DH was trying to do that and I told him just to wait until we get home! Now I might be sorry!!
TIA,
Lesley

You save 10% and also get an onboard credit (ours is $200 for our Magic reservation and $100 for our next Wonder reservation). The best part is you can always swap the reservation to another cruise and keep the discount and shipboard credit. TONS of people just book the last possible date and then transfer the reservation to a different cruise later. I'm pretty sure the number of people needs to stay the same to transfer. You can also then transfer the reservation to a travel agent like Dreams Unlimited and keep both the DCL incentives and any added travel agent incentives. We do this with DU all the time to get additional shipboard credit.

Now I wish I would have let him book one, but I didn't know that you could switch dates and transfer to Dreams Unlimited b/c I really liked booking through them. Our agent was great and very helpful since it was our first cruise! Well now I know for next time!! Thanks
Lesley

Lesley,

Skylynx is correct. The discount was 10% with an onboard credit ($200 for the 7-night cruises and $100 for the 3-4 day cruises). You had to leave a deposit of $250 per person for the Magic or $200 per person for the Wonder.

The price quoted for the cruise we reserved cannot change as long as we do not transfer the reservation to another (different) cruise. The total price can vary (higher or lower) if we decide to transfer the reservation to a different cruise. The transfer itself has no charge and we do not lose the discount or the onboard credit unless we cancel the reservation. When you cancel you get your deposit back. So for our family of four, it was a $1000.00 deposit for a 7-night cruise in July 2008 (West Coast - Mexican Riviera). That gives us until April 2008 to make up our minds. We can also shop around the various travel agencies (DU, SWV, AAA) to see if any offer additional onboard credits on top of the discount and then transfer the reservation to that agency.
