May 6, 2007 - 4 night Wonder

I am so torn between whether or not to get it! I want to be safe, but on the other hand that $400 could really come in handy right now...all the summer stuff is coming out and it is time to start shopping for clothes for the cruise!!! Thanks for all the info.

Hello, Everyone

We'll be joining you on this cruise, as well. We just got off Magic Jan. 20 on our adults-only cruise, but will be taking the kids on this one-DS 11 and DD 14. We are suckers for rebooking on board, and have already booked a dummy cruise for Magic Eastern in 2008 (we'll move it to November as soon as the bookings are available). We are also just about to take the DVC plunge despite a clueless sales "guide" who won't return our calls. Will be delighted to meet everyone. It seems we've got the oldest "kids" so far-but both kids are eager to PM/email other kids in advance. Despite all the visions of Disney brochure-style family togetherness I have for this cruise, I know from experience I'll be hard pressed to drag my son Jack out of the Oceaneer's Lab or my daughter Noelle out of Aloft!

We had a really active Dis thread on our last Magic cruise (that's why I only went looking for a thread for this cruise now!) and had three Dis meets on board. It's so nice to meet strangers you already know! We are looking forward to cruising with you...we took the same cruise, same weekend last May and had the most spectacular weather every day, so hopefully will bring the good luck from last time!

I am so with you on this.

skylynx hello and welcome. We could use some seasoned sailers on this ship. Lot's of newbies here right now. My SIL (Cindyrelly71) has cruised on the wonder 1 time before and she will have her 16 year old sister with her so I think she is oldest so far.

Yeah! I could use some sunshine about now.

Lesley, what did you decide on the pass ports? We haven't yet, but if we wait to long the decision will be made for us, it will be too late.

My husband wants to get them so that we don't have to travel with our Birth Certificates. He didn't realize that b/c when he cruised in 1997, he was only required to bring his driver's license!!

By the way, are we going to schedule a meet? I've been reading that some people do it at the port while waiting to board. Sounds like a fun way to pass the time. We plan on getting to the port at 10am!

I saw that too, they all had macthing T shirts.

Of course they also said unless you want to upgrade there is not reason to get there before 12:00, so we weren't going to. Then again if we take Disney transport, we don't have a lot of choice when we get there.

I read that the earlier you get there, the better the number you get for boarding! But even if we get there early just to do the meet since once we board it will be a little crazy trying to get the kids registered in the kids clubs, find our rooms once they let us go to them, etc. At least it will be for us b/c it is our first cruise and we have no idea what to expect!!! It's just a thought...what do you think would be a good time for a meet??:confused3

We need more seasoned cruises on this boat. Come one now guys!

I had been reading trip reports for a while trying to figure it out. (or at least get a better understanding.)

I started a thread asking for happy trip reports (I was getting sick of all the negitive ones, or even postive ones where bad things kept happening.)

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1341635

I am very exctied that this trip will be all new! How fun. I am kind of scared about that too. It is a live and learn situation. :)

Anyone is ideas on how to best plan the meet?

On our last cruise we had the advantage of a very web savvy person who actually set up a webpage for our cruise...there we introduced ourselves with photos, hometowns, and where we were located on board, how many times we had cruised, basically however much info you wanted to share.

In the absence of this, however, it is still possible for a volunteer to gather this information from everyone who wants to "play" and simply put it in a post that others can see.

Even simpler is to pick two places/times for Dis meets, and then whoever can make it, makes it, and whoever can't, doesn't. On our last cruise we had an informal Dis "meet" in the terminal before boarding began, then one on deck 10during the sailaway party, and one Dis breakfast. That's probably too much for a four day (that was a 7 day cruise) but it's pretty easy to find folks wearing lime green (either shirts or Mickey heads pinned on backpacks, etc.) around a designated location. Sailaway is a good one, as most folks have already figured out where things are, survived the lifeboat drill, and are now ready to party! Plus, since it goes on a while, there's no pressure to show up at any particular time (this is vacation, after all, and lots of us are trying to forget about watching clocks!).

So, there are some ideas. If anyone feels compelled to orchestrate this, now's the time to come forward. If no one else wants to, I don't mind gathering and posting people's info---IF---big IF---our fellow cruisers want to share.

Let's here from the others then...do you want to try and arrange a meet or two and also share some info?

Meeting would be fun!! I am not sure what time the dcl gets us to the port. We are coming from the Beach Club Resort. I hope it is early enough.

Well, just wanted to give this a bump - we're at our 75 day mark!

Was everyone able to get the reservations/excursions they wanted? And if so, which ones did you choose?

We're doing the dolphin encounter in Nassau - and both looking forward to it. Also, we're going to do Palo on May 7th for our 1 year anniversary

We weren't able to get Palo brunch, though - guess we'll try when we get on board.

I just paid for it, the last day we could too. :cool1: If we could of just waited 2 days it would be on next months visa bill instead. Oh well. I have to tell you this is our 1st cruise and it seems like so much more work and money then just going to WDW. Of course we have been to WDW many times, are DVC members and have AP most of the time (with DVC discount.) So the cruise is ending up so much more $$$ then we are used to. I am really looking forward to the cruise, but I so don't see us doing this often like going to WDW.

The CM confirmed that we do not need the pass port, unless you need to fly out of the Bahamas for some reason. As of now I think we will take our chances. I have a lot I can do with $400 instead.

She also said Lily could play in the OC with us and her sister, but could not stay in there with out us (since she won't be 3 until Aug.) I guess there is no real rush to fully 100% potty train her. Traveling with a newly potty trained 2 year old can be risky. They don't like new toleits and you can't always drop everything to ge to one in less in a min too.

We also don't have any excursions planed. I think being our 1st trip and having young kids we are just going to stick with all the boat has to offer and cast away cay. (besides my cheap by nature husband is in a bit of shock with the price tag so far and I have to say, I am with him.) Also I think we will try for brunch at Palo, but see if we can make the ressies on board. If not I am don't mind.

Hi, Everyone
Hope you are all madly planning online now that we are "in the chute". We got the Palo time we wanted, and I got my son registered for the Oceaneer's Lab, which is the most important of all...he's been talking nonstop since our Wonder cruise LAST May about the lab and how much ice cream he is going to eat, etc.

Last May we did the "room" at Comfort Suites (never saw it) and spent the day at Atlantis in Nassau. It was fabulous but we're going to skip excursions this time. The kids will be consumed with club/teen activities. DH and I will probably wander around Nassau on foot a bit. We just got off Magic in January and did a few excursions there so we are happpy to just hang out on the ship.

We just became DVC members and after the cruise will be spending three days at Old Key West for our first DVC stay. I've got to make DH and DS new pirate shirts for Pirate Night...DH's is too hot for May and DS's is too small! I hope lots of people dress up...the Magic was really full of pirate costumes, and it was especially fun to have them for our photo with Jack Sparrow!

Only 75 more days!!!
I booked the banana boat excursion for my 12 and 10 year old daughters. I also registered them for the kids clubs. Oh yeah...I also treated myself to a pedicure reservation!!!

Hi Everyone! We're going to be on the May 6th Wonder and wanted to make sure I was in the right place! We're starting our Land/Sea vacation a day early at the Poly on the 2nd. It will be DH, DD (age 7) and me. Thanks!

Welcome, bbgallini! You are definitely in the right place!

Hi all,

I've registered our children for the nursery / clubs. Don't know if we will use them at this point.

When we booked, we could only get the late seating for dinner. So, we have been put on the waitlist for the earlier seating. DCL won't look at the list until about 30 days before the cruise sails. So that is when they will let us know if we can get the early dinner seating. Any one else have the late seating at this time?
