MAY 5TH BETTING ( SWEEPSTAKES)

Where do you think the Magic will go? California or Caribbean? to go along with the summer 2005 Magic thread, where do you guess the Magic will go out of these ports listed below, or do you have others to add?

Los Angeles
Panama (stop) and Panama cannel (not stop)
Cabo San Lucas,
Manzanillo
Puerto Vallarta
Acapulco
Catalina,
San Diego
Ensenada.
Zihuatonejo
Cartagena Columbia
Belize City
Casa de campo Dominican republic
Ochio Rios Jamaica
Aruba
Puntarenas, Costa Rica
Port limon Costa Rica
Progreso/Merida
Costa Maya
St Lucia
Barbados
Martinique

No prizes, but the honour will go to the person who is most correct!

Now I am going to stick my head out and say, even though everyone feels and makes an excellent case for California, its;-

EAST
St Lucia
Barbados
Martinique

WEST
Costa Maya
Belize City
Ochio Rios Jamaica
May need more than 7 days!!

IF they are going to California I would guess the are doing the standard 7 day Mexican Riviera i.e. Cabo, Puerto Vallarta.

Even though DCL will be losing many people to other lines, I beleive it will be California (Mexican cruises) as well.
I know the dates don't match but wouldn't it make more sense to "test the west" when the ships aren't going to be sailing from FL filled to capacity anyway?

DCL usually runs full or at least 95% full most of the time. i called DCL to see how full my cruise was and its up to 88% (her best guess). and most of the midsummer cruise are closer to 95% already

I said St. Lucia because I think it's going to stay in the Caribbean.

I vote for staying in the Caribbean with some new ports. My guess:

Eastern
St. Thomas
Tortola (close to St. Thomas and few ships visit during summer)
St. Lucia
Castaway Cay

Western
Key West
Belize
Cozumel
Castaway Cay

How come nobody thinks that they might add a stop at CC . Leave off Key West and add another CC stop at the begining. I do not believe that DCL will be going west. And then there is Grand Cayman, maybe they are leaving GC off and adding Belize or Jamaica because of the occasional tendering problem in GC????

Don't forget there could be 8, 9, and even longer summer cruises in the Caribbean doing other cruise ship ports including: Antigua, Aruba, Barbatos, Belize, Costa Maya, Costa Rica, Dominica, Isla Roatan, Martinique, Progresso / Merida, Ocho Rios, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Tortola, and even Bermuda!

There is just more in the Caribbean!

Thank you for all of he replies to date California is clearly in the lead but Barbados and St lucia very close behind!

The poll only allows a maximum of 12 ports so I sellected the ones I thought could be included, and even then had to double up.

I also excluded any port the DCL has visited to date so Casterway cay was left off only for that reason.

Thanks

L/A is clearly in the lead with over a third of votes with PUERTO VALLARTA, the popular place the Magic is suggested to go to and from on its way.

However there is still hope for the Carribean with just under a quarter of people voting hoping still for the likes of St lucia or Barbados!

Thanks to everyone who voted!

When we were on the Magic in summer 2002, the captain hinted that they would be doing a cruise to the Hawaiian Islands in 2005 or 2006. I hope he was telling the truth!

To keep the rumor pot boiling, I took part in a Disney survey last year dealing with new vacation ideas and Hawaii was on that list. I'd still put Hawaii down as a looooong shot.

Hawaii, is what i've been thinking all along. I always wondered why no one brought it up. Everyone says why go to the west coast, mexico isnt very great. But what about Hawaii. Its gorgeous and feasible. It would be a longer cruise, but so what, that would be even better.

I could see some great themes with the Hawaii route. I would be concerned about the price of a Disney Hawaii cruise.

I'm hoping for stops in St. Lucia & Barbados. However, would it be too far from Port Canaveral for a 7 day cruise? As far as a new Western itinerary I wouldn't be surprised to see a stop at Costa Maya. I know Disney was looking at this port last year.

From Cruise News Daily:

European Vision Sold - They Think
Apr 20 - You wouldn't believe that things could get any murkier in the saga of Festival (marketed in North America as First European Cruises) trying to get back into operation - but they have. One of the ships, European Vision, has apparently been sold - over the protests of the line - to a competitor.

The former Royal Olympic ships are also available. That makes at least three ships newer than the Magic and Wonder available for charter. I guess we'll find out May 5th !

California and LA still well in the lead, but the percentage has fallen with a spead of votes.

I still hope, pray, whatever with plutospup for Carribean 10 day cruises in August 05, you can have the Magic anywhere you want it before then!
