What a cool story! A "Magic"al Gathering sounds like an amazing way to celebrate a 40th anniversary! That countdown calendar is a great idea! I don't know how much of this thread you've gotten to read since it's pretty long at this point but if you've checked out page 1, post 15, you'll see who is cruising with you and the kids' ages. If you want to post the names of all your family members, the kids' ages and where you are from I'll add you to the roll call. The kids have been getting to know each other a little bit by exchanging x-mas cards, valentines and what not. If you PM me with the kids' names and your address I'll send the cruise mix CD that has been mentioned here to your kids and your nephew.

BTW, I'm Michigan Kim (there is a FLA Kim too so this is how we distinguish). It's me, my DH Brian and DS Devin (pictured in my avatar) who will be 3 in June. It's our first Disney cruise and Devin's first cruise ever. We're really excited!

The Calendar is a lot of fun. Keeps the excitement going! I'll post a link to it for others to use as soon a I have access to that option (10 post minimum i think).

I really like the idea of the children sharing gifts. I was wanting to share something with the children. I just was wondering how many kids there are 10 and younger. Sorry if you have any older than 10 I just don't think they'd like what I would like to share..

Love the idea of the calandar, Something i should think about for my family. But then again I think I am more excited then the rest of my family. I keep picking up things here and there for the trip. Welcome BethRudy! My DH and I are taking our granddaughter who will be 5 this Friday!!!, on our 1st Disney Cruise. We are very excited too! Sherrie, another of our Cinco Dis Mayo Crew told me about making a chain for Madison, so we tear off a chain each day to see how many days are left. We also have a countdown for her birthday and a countdown for swimming lessons (they start Monday)

Debbie, I got the shirt labels at a LSS. They had just come in this morning.

I think I'm going to get the suitcases out too because right now the bags of cruise stuff are cluttering up my room. I need to figure out what we have, what we still need (especially clothes wise for Devin) and its not like we will be wearing any summer clothes here anyway (had snow again yesterday) so I might as well pack them up. How can people do last minute cruises when it takes some of us over a month just to

Hi Zanna, refresh my recollection because its 3:00am and I'm not thinking clearly - were your kids added to the mailing list? We had a list for Christmas that was updated before Valentines Day and that is what I used to send the CD's out but I'm thinking you subscribed after. Anyway, if I didn't send the Cruise Mix CD to your kids, like I told BethRudy, if you want to PM me your address, I'll mail it out to your kids.

As for number of kids, its hard to say. If you take look at the Roll Call, post 15 (which I need to update to add Beth and her crew but it probably won't be tonight), you'll see there are a decent number of kids. The only thing is some people haven't posted in awhile so I'm not 100% sure who is still sailing with us in order to total up the number of kids. So I tried to color code - people in green have indicated(or acquiesced) that they will be coming (or at least will give it a good try) to our short little meet and greet on embarkation day. People in red have fairly actively posted but either haven't said if they were coming or I just missed it (OK, anybody in red who wants to be green post a reply PLEASE). People still in black are ???? at this point. And unfortunately those underlined can't sail with us after all. I guess you can guesstimate a number based on this. If I had to guess, I'd say between 14 and 20 kids ages 10 and under plus our 3 teens who are Lisa(MickeyD's) DS Ryan, Tracy(BLTOH's) DS Jonathan and Fla Kim(THE Kirk's) DStepson Carl. There are other "kids" sailing but I didn't include Debbie (pppiglet's) DS Tyler since he's old enough to drink and probably prefers beer to bubbles. I hope I'm not forgetting anybody.

Now that I think of it, I have a count question:
FLA KIM are your niece and nephew still cruising with you and should I be counting them in our kid total? If so, what are their ages now?

Since my DH has been reading all of your stories to us for the past few days, I have taken over the lap top and decided to write you all about our story!

It all started on December 9th 2006.

We (my gang DH, DD (9), DS(7) and myself) all went over to my inlaws for our annual tree decorating, along with my husband's sister (my sister in law) and her husband and son.

We were all very busy sorting all of the decorations for x-mas and getting into the x-mas spirit when all of a sudden.....
my in laws paraded down into the family room carrying a HUGE poster of a ship. We all kind of looked at each other wondering what the heck was going on????!!!!
My inlaws made their announcement.......

THE DWORZAK FAMILY ARE GOING ON A DISNEY CRUISE TO CELEBRATE THEIR 40TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!!!!
HOLY CRAP!!! Please repeat that.....
YUP!!!! WE ARE ALL GOING ON A 1 WEEK WESTERN CARRIBEAN DISNEY CRUISE!!!
We didn't know whether we should laugh or cry! So, we did both!
Once we all calmed down, my in laws repeated the itinerary again.

None of us were ever on any kind of cruise, except for my inlaws.
The wheels were turning.....
What to buy....what we need.....how to lose 40 lbs in 5 months....
what to see....where to go.....how much weight can you gain in 1 week anyways????

The kids went nuts. We talked about it once or twice before and once we looked at the prices we put our ideas on hold.

Now we are going and it's an ALL expenses paid vacation thanks to my inlaws and their 40th wedding anniversary!

A couple of months have passed, and the kids have calmed down.
Well, not for long.

My mother inlaw figures that the holiday should start NOW!

She (along with DH, her son) came up with a COUNT DOWN CALENDAR for the kids. Just when we thought everything was calming down......time to get the kids all excited again!

So my mother inlaw came up with the calendar and we have 46 days to go from today. On the calendar there are 8 happy faces scattered about the page. My son asks the question.... "Grandma what are the happy faces about"
Well, she answers....."every time you get to a happy face on the calendar, Grandma and Grandad will have something special for you, that has to do with the cruise."

That night (Friday, March 16th) is when the kids got the calendars along with the first of eight happy face gifts.

Wrapped up in 3 little packages (1 for each grandchild) was their 1st happy face presents. A travel diary, a chpater's gift certificate (airplane fund money) and a mickey mouse book mark.

SOOOOO, now we are counting ALL kinds of days.....
count down to the cruise AND count down until the next happy face!

We are having a ball...... We are ALL VERY excited about the cruise!

I actually get all teary eyed just thinking about it!
All I can say, is that I hope the week on the ship doesn't go too fast!

You'll probably know who the Dworzak Family are on the last day of the cruise....we'll be the ones who are crying the loudest!

Seeboo is this something you would like to mail out or somethingto hand out on the first day of the cruise?? If its something you would like to mail out ahead of time just pm me and i can send you the master mailing address list and any of the new ones that have recently joined us or any others that didnt get on it before....if you want to be added to this list just pm me your name and addresses and i will add you to it..i am hoping that after the cruise maybe we can continue to let the kids send cards to each other and we can keep in contact.

I just wanted to thank you and Devin so much for that wonderful CD. Kyle and Kailey just received it yesterday and we played it in the car this morning. It brought tears to my eyes. I am so ready for this trip and to see the excitement in my kid's faces.

You see, Jason and I have decided not to tell the kids about the cruise. We usually go to Disney World at least once a year and they really love it. We were there in December and still, every couple of days, my 2 year old asks me when we are going back. Well, we have decided we will just surprise them for this trip. I am going to pick up the kids from school and tell them that we have to go pick up daddy (his office is on the way to the airport). When we get there, we will tell them together that we are going on a trip, but we're not going to say where to. When they get on the plane to Orlando, they will "know" they are going to DW. We plan on staying at an airport hotel that night and then taking a towncar in the following morning.
I am sure they will freak out when they see the huge boat and realize we are not going to DW We plan on having a great trip on the boat and then going to DW for a few days after the cruise. The kids will have a blast and so will we seeing the excitement in their faces!

So anyway, please tell Devin thanks so much for the CD. Although my kids still do not know we are going, it makes them beg me even more and it is so much fun keeping the secret! They were so cute dancing in the car!

Also, to everyone who sent valentines...I am so sorry we didn't get any out, but I keep meaning to thank you all. This is going to be such a great cruise. All the kids are so adorable and I am sure they will all have a blast together!

We are cruise virgins and just can not wait! We're in Parkville MD,
flying down to Orlando for some fun in the sun and a little fairy dust at
the Bibbili Biddili Bop Boutique on Thurs. 5/3. Still looking for a hotel -
if anyone has any suggestions.

It is myself, Sherri, my DH (who turns 40 on 5-6!), our DS Vince -12
and our princess, Isabella - 4 (who has talked about breakfast with Cinderella
DAILY since September when I booked this vacation! Lord let Cinderella be
on that boat!)

I'm so glad I found this board! I had/have a zillion questions!
We can't wait to meet and greet all you fabulous cruisers!

Mommymouse....we are going to WDW after the cruise also. So is Madisonznana. Maybe we'll see you around there too!

You can also find us around the terminal before boarding. Some of us will be wearing shirts that say "Cinco Dis Mayo Cruise". (although I have to admit, I haven't got mine done yet!)

You're welcome. I commend you for keeping it a surprise. For me, that would be harder than giving up Dr. Pepper and chocolate. But I hope we didn't nearly let the cat out of the bag cuz I'm pretty sure Devin's Valentine said something to the effect of meeting them onboard and his letter mentioned counting down the days til we sail. So I'm hoping your oldest can't read yet because I'd feel bad screwing up the surprise. But how did you explain the mysterious appearing Valentines from random children?

I've added you and your family to our roll call (for a list of those sailing with you page 1, post 15). I just need to fill in the Birthday Boy's name if you would please post it. And no worries, even though it's our first cruise too, I've seen many pics posted with Cinderella on board. I can't imagine leaving her out.

As for hotels, I assume you are looking to stay at or near WDW if you are going to BBB. Lots of choices for hotels there and I guess it would depend on what you plan to do. We are skipping WDW this trip so we are flying in on 5/4, staying at the Radisson near the port and getting to the port early on 5/5.

Thank you for adding us! My husband is Beau - turns 40 on 5/6/07 and I'm hoping to have a few surprises onboard. He'll be shocked if people he doesn't know wish him a happy birthday! lol

We'll definately be at the Meet & Greet - I can't wait! Devin (who I see is quite popular with his music mix & the girls ;p) and Isabella will probably get along great! If anyone has pre-teens or early teens, PLEASE let me know. Vince, our 12 going on 21, is driving me nuts about other kids on the ship ALREADY. I'm sure there will be plenty in his age group. He's a great kid but this age is very trying for him and us! lol

We were staying at the Radisson also......until I heard about BBB and decided to grab a day or 2 down there. There is a plethora of hotels so I'll decide this week.

BTW, what part of Michigan are you in? It's gorgeous up there in the spring & summer but wayyyyy too cold for this summa chik in the winter! brrr

I am a dentist here in the my small little town. So of corse I have peoples teeth on my mind. Saddly enough I have forgotten to pack a toothbrush for my children. I was thinking of adding a few extra childrens toothbrushes to give out. Okay children won't like it but I do know the parents will enjoy em... (will check and see if Have my cool christmas ones left) my sons class really enjoyed those toohtbrushes.

I CAN'T stand it I AM SO EXCITED:!!!!!! Funny how I more excited than my children. They are being so calm I should take lessons from them
