Cruisers: DH-33 Me-32 and DD-4

May 5th-12th
This is our 8th cruise, but first Western.

The cruise prep started off okay..except for the fact that DH snapped his arm in half one evening fighting (UFC). So after 2 days in the Hospital a little emergency surgery, he is all set with a metal rod and 6 shiny new screws in his arm! Oh joy.

Needless to say a lot of our excursion plans changed ( no stingray city).

May 4th- We drove to Orlando and met some friends at the Ale House (best place in the world). Then on to the Country Inn and Suites.
Nice hotel. Room was very quiet even though we overlooked the pool area. Great beds. Nice breakfast.

May 5th- Went to Ron Jon surf shop at 8am. Then DH dropped DD and myself off at the port at 9:45 am. He then parked car at CI&S and came back on the shuttle. No problems. DD and I checked in and received out Keys to the World. Took our seats and waited for Captain Mickey.
Mickey came and we got our first of many hugs and pics. We board pretty early and went straight to get Palo ressies. Got them no problem. WEnt to Topsiders for lunch. Great!!! Then the madness began. Saw that Pirate night was moved to Tuesday night instead on Wednesday. Went back to Rockin' bar D to change Palo. Got that changed. ( We always do Palo on Pirate night at 6:00 as to not miss any of the shows.) The Palo people told us that Pirate night was Wednesday...so we called Guest Services to confirm. Yes Pirate night was now Tuesday....same night as Twice Charmed. Ugh. We would be staying in Cozumel until 1 am. Not sure why???!! Oh well.

Unpacked....fire drill.....went to show...then dinner. Regular evening nothing unusual. Rachael was our Cruise Director, although very nice I REALLY missed Brent.:rolleyes1

I was on that cruise. I couldn't believe they changed Pirate night on us, but staying in Cozumel til 1am worked out nice! I did laundry that night and watched us sail away from port.

That happened on my cruise in 2004 when we switched from 10pm to 1am. I asked the Captain about that the next day. He said it was primarily a favor to the crew so that they could have a few extra hours off the ship in Cozumel. Also learned that they have to leave the ship in pairs so that they can keep an eye on each other.

It was great watching everyone return to the ship between midnight and 1:00am. Quite a line developed at 12:45am to get onboard. I remember looking over the railing in my verandah and seeing a lot of people like myself watching people running on the dock to get back to the ship. :rotfl:

We sailed the Western in Dec. 2005 and stayed in Key West late because the Captain let the crew have some extra hours in port because of high ratings for the cruise the week before ours.

Looking forward to reading more of your report. Rachel was also our Cruise Director.

How long before your trip did you dh have his surgery Eeyore? Hopefully it was long enough that he wasn't still in a lot of pain.

You did laundry, Debbie?? We made it once we bought Madison some more undies!!:rotfl2: And the Fabreeze:lmao:
