May 30, 2009 - Western Cruise Magic

they are only selling Cat 4 through 10 now...no more 12's, and NO 11's, so I'd say we are going to be staying put in our Cat. 11 cabins.....which is OK since we are all together.....can't WAIT to start packing now!!! WOO HOO:cool1:

Yeah, the verandah is really nice, but I'm just happy to be cruising with my family again! We'll have a great time watching everything from our large porthole!:goodvibes

I don't see 2031? Is that the right room number?

Ooops, that should be 2013. The good news for us is that we are travelling with my husband's sister's family, and we are three rooms in a row. Which will be much easier for the kids.

For the record, we are two couples (refuse to give ages to protect the innocent ...) and five cousins.

I went ahead and added you to the cruise list. If you want a copy, I will send it to you - just PM me your email address. There are lots of children around your childs' ages.

Even though I wish all of us would have been upgraded to 9's or higher, I am glad to see that Disney kept all (or at least most) of the families with linked reservations together in a row. It would have been bad if some of these would have been on different decks.

I started inputting cabin numbers. There are a few outstanding on the FE list that I need numbers for. Even if you aren't on the FE list, I will still put in your cabin number and send you the list if you want.

For the FE we have the following # of cabins on each deck

Deck 1 - 2
Deck 2 - 4
Deck 5 - 1
Deck 6 - 5
Deck 7 - 3
Deck 8 - 2

Now that we have a number, it feels officially like we are going on a cruise!!!!!

We're in 2120, unless the upgrade fairy decides to sprinkle some pixie dust.:wizard:

Congratulations to everyone on their assignments and upgrades :)

Wishing pixie dust on those that were hoping for a bigger upgrade. Anything is possible. We were once called and told to change the room numbers on our luggage tags as we had been upgraded.

And I think it's really great that everyone managed to keep their families rooms together. That's a big plus!

I check we were also assigned our room late yesterday. We booked a cat 12 gty and have been assigned a cat 9, room number 2014. I knew since there are four of us in the room that we would get at least a Cat 11. I am super excited to get the Cat 9 and have the window and split bath. My parents and my sister and her family will also be on the cruise. They had also booked the Cat 12 rooms and were also upgraded to Cat 9's and all three rooms are next to each other. We have rooms 2014, 2016 and 2018. I feel very lucky to have received such great upgrades. :cool1:

And they are still selling space on our ship, so anything's possible.

FL res rates are gone, and all categories are in gty status....but there are obviously still some staterooms available.

Does anyone know at the rear of the ship on Deck 6, if that is an accessible deck off the cabins?? I can't tell from the Deck Plan, but that would be really cool if it is!!!

No, not that I know of but there is a public AFT decks with lounge chairs on 7. There is a smaller area on AFT deck 8 without chairs.

That's so true. That's the main thing we were worried about- being close together. If we had got rooms far apart we'd have even traded with someone back down to 12's if we had to- it would just make life easier to have rooms near one another. :) I think they did an excellent job so far- it seems like all the reports are no matter what category the rooms are right next to one another and that's great!

Woohoo- more deck 2 neighbors (sorta- not next door neighbors but same deck neighbors! LOL) Congrats on the awesome upgrades! Oh and htat means you got a room with bunk- so that blew my theory of those with 4 not upgraded to cat 9's because most sleep 3. hahaha theory proven wrong. LOL

Well, I was just checking to see if anyone got some pixiedust: yet and YOU HAVE!! :yay: Congrats everyone!! When I read of some that had assigned cabins being upgraded, I hotfooted it over to the Disney site to look at my ressie. US TOO!!! We went from cat 11 on deck 6 down to deck 5 but a cat 7 (I think). Room 5634. (it's still listed as a cat 11 inside room) Looks like we got a veranda! I am so excited - I never expected! :jumping1: And I can't even get hold of my DD to tell her... Wait until she hears!:cheer2:

That is so awesome! You're the 2nd person to start with cat 11 and get upgraded to a cat 7! If I'd known that was the trend I'd have booked a cat 11! LOL Congrats on your upgrade- it's awesome!!! woohoo! :cool1:

So can anyone tell me how we go about getting autographed pillowcases for the kids. Who and when do we take them?? Will they just deliver them at the end of the cruise?

Look at my trip report.

Basically you just drop the pillowcases off at guest services with markers and they have a sheet to fill out.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this thread. My family and I will be on the May 30th cruise as well. I'm happy to report that we recieved our room assingments today and were too upgraded from a cat 12 to cat 9!!!!!:banana::banana::banana: We are soooooooo excited and can wait to get there. I wish everyone luck and pixie dust in getting the room you want!:tink:

Thanks so much! I got hold of my DD and she is very excited, too! She thought I was teasing her!

We did this last year except we had a t-shirt and picture mats. Bruce is right, you take to guest services and they ask which characters you want. We got all of them but you could just have princesses if you want or maybe the fab 5. We took them the first night. I had them in a plastic bag with different colored sharpies. The last night they appeared on our bed! They were great!

This year I made an autograph book. I'm trying to decide if I want to take it to GS to be signed or have my DGD carry it with her when she meets the characters. If we depend on her carrying it, it might get left somewhere. I know the line will go faster if kids don't need to have their books signed but isn't the whole point to have them interact with the characters...

Woohoo!
what deck are you on, or better yet what room if you don't mind saying? I'm just wondering if some of us are close- already we have some stateroom neighbors... are you on deck 2 also? Congrats on teh upgrade!

Whichever you think you and DGD will enjoy the most. Personally I LOVE that we can just drop things off to have them signed at guest services and then we really don't have to mess with getting things signed- we only get in line if we want a photo with the character. I really enjoy that after all the character lines in the parks. LOL But if our daughter was younger- we'd be doign the lines and having them sign.... she got a kick out of that when she was younger. The first cruise we did pillowcases for each of the kids and had them in seperate bags with seperate fabric markers and made a note of what they liked (for instance youngest- princesses, son- fab 5/no princessses! LOL stuff like that) and we got them earlier on in the 7nt cruise that they could even sleep with them. The 2nd cruise (15nt) we did a pillowcase for youngest and photo mats- we didn't get them until the night before Castaway Cay. They probably had a ton to do on that cruise though since practically the entire ship was repeat cruisers and DIS'ers so they all probably knew about this little "secret that is no longer a secret" LOL

I hadn't thought about shirts.... hmm, I might have to do that this time! Maybe on our "group" shirts since they are white with just the decal on the front. I mean with our group name and date on it- it might be neat to have that with the names on it. Can you still get them signed if you don't drop them off on the FIRST night though? Like if we wore them on the ship that first day and I washed them that night and turned in the next day- would they still have time to do them?
