May 30, 2009 - Western Cruise Magic

wait are all cat 12's on the same deck? I need to look into this so I can stop worrying if we're 5 decks apart or something like that. LOL

Yes, they are all bunched together on 1 deck.

I cannot wait for the cruise, we are having blizzard conditions here. So far about 8 inches of snow and suppose to go throughout the night.

Not good for me. It's 60 degrees right now and I can't wait for summer to show up!:beach:

We can't wait either. No blizzard conditions here but we're supposed to have "a guaranteed shovelable amount" of snow starting sometime tomorrow afternoon and ending sometime Saturday. Every weather forecast that we here adds to the amount of snow that was forecasted the time before.

Wow is disboard slow tonight or what? :( I am beginning to feel like I'm back 10yrs ago on slowest of slow dialup everytime I'm on this board- and ths is AFTER an update? :(

I don't know how I didn't know that before now- but I guess that will be our silver lining if we don't get an upgrade! That atleast we'll be on the same deck both rooms! LOL

Supposed to get snow this weekend- supposedly. We're in Texas! what in the world is going on that we get snow at the END OF MARCH? in TEXAS? This is crazy. I remember when winter used to be in Nov/Dec here... then it got later and later. most recently it's been Feb that's our coldest month- and now it's end of MARCH? weirdness. Last year at this time we were already swimming in our pool! Last week was like it was going to get there- and then whamo- rainy weather and now a cold front coming thru. wow

Skiing was excellent today. Tons of powder. Definitely a great day to end the season.

Powder?????? You ski on powder? Sorry, growing up in Florida, I only ski on water. I am kinda afraid of squeezing all of me in a skin tight outfit, putting 2 pieces of wood on my feet and then going down a mountain where there are trees and cliffs.:rotfl2:

Maybe one day.

I am glad :thumbsup2 that your day turned out great after all that snow.

2 months to go and no room yet. I can't stand it! I hate GTY, but love the GTY price!!!!!!

Wish that what we had was something ski-able (Is that a word???). All we've gotten is 4 inches (so far) of sleet & ice! Oh, well, not sure where you'd find anything even close to resembling a mountain here in Kansas to ski down. :confused3

I don't know if I'll ever go snow skiing. I finally relented to let my daughter go for a couple of days to the annual winter get away to ski (with church youth group) but I was having anxiety the entire time she was gone. I'm deathly afraid of skiing ever since I saw The Other Side of the Mountain as a child- and that fear only got worse (much worse) once as a young adult (barely an adult) my mother became quadraplegic (although hers was from a car accident- the method of getting in that condition is besides the point- the point is I know all too well what happens when you're hurt that badly and left paralyzed). Anyway that show has scared me off from skiiing and jaws has me scared of open water (sharks). Apparently I was very impressionable as a young child and haven't learned to let go of that inner child. I dunno. LOL Hey I'm going snuba diving on the next trip... wish me luck that I don't have a heart attack! I'm fighting my fears tippie toe at a time. yanno? LOL

I have a question for y'all. When I went back and read the earlier pages on this thread, many of you said "when I found these great ctg. 12 rates." How DID you find these rates? Did you get e-mails sent to you? Did you just check the website and discovered this date had particularly good rates?

I am much more experienced in the world of Disney on land in Orlando. I'm just curious about how you experienced cruisers do your research and /or what techniques you use to find the best deals?

Thanks
Donna

We just kept checking thr disneycruise website over and over and over-lol!!!! OCD can actually be a good thing at times!

This is our first ever cruise.

We have looked and reviewed and settled on some excursions.

Key West we are planning on renting an electric car and just roaming around.
We have not decided on who to rent a car from yet.

Grand Cayman we are doing the wave runner snorkel tour through Ebanks Water Sports.

Cozumel we have decided on the clear kayak, snorkel, beach day at Paya Uvas.

Anyone have any comments about any of these?
:scratchin:beach::woohoo::wave2:

I received an email from our TA about the dates that had the discount rates- but I kinda ignored it until I started hearing HOW MUCH the savings was on this board- then I went back to read the email still sitting in delete folder and thought about it and then asked them to book us two rooms. LOL So for me it was a combo- I first found out from TA but I would have found out from this board as well and it took both for me to decide to book. ;)

Besides receiving emails from my TA- I'd have to say this board is about the extent of where I get my info on when dates come out (that's usually the best way to get the cheapest price- to book the day the dates come out- it's only recently that other discounts have come up later but that's not the NORM for Disney, until recently!) and when there are good prices on specific cruises, etc. A lot of people heard about it here- then did like you said- kept checking the website till they found it open for them to book also. I didn't do the legwork though- my TA did that for me. :)

I can't help- haven't done any of those excursions and we don't have those booked either. :( Hopefully someone can give you some info on those excursions though! :) Sorry I'm no help!

We are doing the Grand Cayman wave runner excursion to Stingray City and Snorkle through Fat Fish. It sounds like a lot of fun and I cannot wait to do it.

I don't know what cat you have but if you click on the Dreams Unlimited box at the bottom of this thread, they have a cat 11 for $899 per person. This was even cheaper than the cat 12 I had previously, which was about half of the cat 9 I booked onboard last year. As you can see, I had a hard time making up my mind... :rolleyes1

I just went online to do the online check in for the cruise. All my ressies had disappeared!! I booked on Mar 1 and everything was there when I signed off that night. Maybe they were lost after the software update?? Just wanted to let you know... :headache:

WHAT?
I'm going to go check- our ressies better not be gone or I'm going to lose my mind! LOL

Okay I just checked and ours are there. that worries me for you! I was thinking maybe it was just a glitch and would be that way for everyone right now- but our excursions are showing... and yours aren't? Check again to make sure? Did you print them out after you booked them and did you click to confirm? They make you go thru several pages before they are actually confirmed and will actually stay on there. :(

(ps. can we check in already? I wasn't aware we could check in yet?)

Yes, I did all that and even confirmed after each one. I was able to rebook for the times I had before. I'm glad that they weren't excursions that were booked up already. I did loose my Palo ressie, but we had decided to cancel anyway. We like the dining rooms... I can't decide if I'm happy or upset that we don't get to try the new menus. There are items that we loved last year and want to have again but there are some new things that sound great, too.

I filled out all my stuff last night and even printed out the signature page. Now I just have to remember to bring it...

Hello
Does anyone have any suggestions for excursions for Grand Cayman? It will be my DH, myself, 2 five y.o. twin boys, who can swim, but are not "power swimmers" at the age of just 5.

I had hoped for something like a catamaran ride and a swim/snorkle thing. Something like that is offered in Cozumel, but we are doing the Dolphin Excursion that day. But I'm open to any suggestions.

I am very open to booking it myself, too, I do not need to go through Disney, if that is a consideration.

Also, my DH is interested in going golfing the day at Key West, if anyone is looking for a golf buddy.

Thank you in advance for any of your suggestions.

In grand cayman we're using Shoretrips instead of DCL there- we're doing a snorkel/stingray city/turtle farm type excursion. Our youngest is 8, not 5, but she's not really into the snorkel thing- so she may not even snorkel while we're at those snorkel stops. She swims like a fish but isn't interested in swimming WITH THEM. LOL I can relate actually..
