My friend got the other cat 12 room that they needed. They are so excited to not have to leave their 20 year old daughter behind (so is she)! That makes 11 cat 12s in our group.
As for why all the cat 12s when they are oversold,
DCL would rather fill a room @ a cat 12 rate than sale w/ it empty. I think they post one every once in a while just to get people checking & booking.
As for the cheap upgrades, that's a great idea. I know we've gotten lucky when in the WDW resorts by asking for available upgrades @ check-in, but it didn't even occur to me to do it on the cruise. Duh!! I'm such a "Dopey".
Love the lime green bracelet idea.
I'm good w/ any of the names. They are all cute & I'm just happy their are creative people out there doing all the work!!
Congrats on the other cat 12! Wow 11 rooms.. wow! You're a large group on your own without the rest of us! LOL
OK gang....I don't know how much interest there is in cruise bracelets....these can be ordered for our group if desired. I'm willing to do the group order. My suggestion would be that we use our group name OR Disney Magic, May 30, 2009. We are limited to 25 characters, so can't have both. The cost is $1.10 each for an order of 100; the price drops if we do more than 100. Each size constitutes an order--thus, we can do 100 adult and 100 youth, but we can't do 50 of each without an extra fee. Glow in the dark is 5 cents more if desired. The cost does drop if we order 200+ of any size, but pricing is in groups of 100.
SO..this is an interest survey, not a firm order (I will let you know before I order and ask for a commitment at that time)
# of bracelets (adult)
# of bracelets (youth)
preferred embossing (group name vs. Dis Magic, date)

Here's the thread with the photo!

The top picture is the adult bracelet
The middle picture is the youth glow-in-the-dark bracelet
The bottom picture is the lot, and most accurately displays the colors
I'm not sure the picture came thru here...guess I'll find out when I hit "submit."
Hmm I dunno. I mean if we have enough for 100 order then I won't mind spending like $5 something for us to have more than we already have. It might be best to go with our name though- just my personal opinion. Because if we go with our name without the date on it- we can wear it again in the future! I'm not one to really like buying things with specifics on it and then rebuying it for the next cruise with those specifics like dates. I mean I have in the past but it adds up when doing it for each cruise- yanno? But we'll always be disney cruisin' budgeteers or cruisin' disney budgeteers or whatever- so I'd have no qualms over wearing it again in the future. LOL But the "engraving" or whatever you call that really doesn't show up unless someone looks really really close- so honestly it doesn't matter to me. Whatever everyone else decides.
One note: since we don't have a large group and may not have enough to get 100 for adults and 100 for children in order to get the cheaper prices- here is some of our experiences with these.
A) there is VERY little difference in size- my kids, even the youngest, could easily wear the small adult size -and it appears our group does not have a ton of wee little ones anyway-the largest "age group" of children on our list so far appears to be pre-teen and teens. So we might do best to just go with adult size. I really was amazed that I couldn't even tell the difference between the small adult and youth sizes on the last ones we bought.
B) in our experience the kids might not want to wear them-or atleast not for long. So again the adult sizing might work better since more adults will wear them rather than kids. My son was the only one that wanted to wear them (both the lime and the pirate red/black ones we had for the last cruise)- my girls were not really interested in them at all. They wore them on embarkation because I made them but they never put them back on the rest of the cruise even though I kept asking them why they weren't wearing them. LOL
Anyway- because of those reasons and because we have a small group and might not be able to have a minimum of 200 (100 adult, 100 kids) we might be best to try to narrow it down to one or the other- and if the decision is youth- we won't buy any. That would be a waste (even though only a few bucks I guess? LOL) because they won't wear them. But WE will wear them- primarily so we can be recognized as part of the DIS while on the ship! LOL
Personally from experience on the cruises I've been on (with HUGE groups on those special cruises) I found on the first cruise we had buttons made by a generous member of the group and "some" bought the bracelets- we hardly saw ANYONE from our group- just a few people randomly over and over. And it was really a large group of DIS'ers on that first two-stop to CC cruise. The 2nd cruise an even larger massive group- we had matching lanyards and nametag type "cards" that we could put in the lanyards- but it was mostly the lanyards that everyone recognized (after the initial embarkation and PC days when everyone wore specific shirts to recogize everyone). we were noticing/recognizing people everywhere! Buttons might work but we had buttons on the first cruise and hardly no one wore them. I'm afraid the bracelets are the same way- unless this group is different which is possible ofcourse! But in the past buttons and bracelets just aren't worn often enough to be recognizing people often at all.
Maybe everyone will do different things and we'll recognize one another. I mean maybe some will wear the bracelets, some will have shirts (obviously not worn every day though! LOL) that say our group name on them... I'm thinking about making some buttons since I saw a thread on it on the camping forum but I could make the button include our group name- but I'm not sure how much we'd wear those either...etc. Although if I made us buttons I'm pretty sure atleast *I* would wear it pinned to my lanyard- and maybe DH. Doubtful on the kids -it was hard to even get them to wear their lanyards! LOL They don't like wearing the extra stuff I guess....
I'm hoping we are able to meet atleast most everyone at the group meeting at the port before getting on the ship. I would rather not have a repeat of the first cruise. The first cruise we felt totally alone. We were seated at our own table at dining not even really near the DIS group (linking us got messed up by DCL), and rarely saw anyone on the ship- maybe the same few people I could count on one hand the entire cruise. The 2nd cruise was neat because we were recognizing people all over that were from our group (primarily due to the lanyards w/little card things in them but the lanyard themselves too) and it was much nicer to see and talk to many from the group throughout the cruise.
Hey we also posted pictures of ourselves (although not all posted on this board- we had a seperate website made for that type of stuff during our PC cruise) and that helped everyone to recognize one another somewhat......
So anyway- if we don't recognize you but you recognize us.. please say hi so we don't feel all alone. LOL
(this is why we also liked the idea of meeting to walk to trolley- another chance early in the cruise to start "recognizing" faces and not relying on bracelets or whatnot to recognize others from our group!
