May 28, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

Under My Reservation when I click on View Cruise Details its showing the amended schedule as well as when I just go under Cruise Search on the Disney site but when I look under My Cruise Plans its still showing the original port schedule. So who knows...:confused3

My husband noticed this and I called DCL on Monday. They confirmed that the May 28 itinerary had not changed. They then transferred me to the web representative and they also confirmed that the May 28 itinerary had not changed, but what was coming up for May 28 was really the June 18 itinerary. She said she was submitting a request to get the website corrected. It doesn't appear that it has been corrected as of yet.

I mentioned that the the Naples onboard time had changed from 9:00 pm to 7:00pm and they did confirm the 7:00 pm time.

If anyone gets a difference response please post.
I just got off the phone with them and got the same response, our sailing was not affected just the June 18 sailing. I just wish they would change the site so that I would feel more comfortable.

I, too, just got off the phone w/ DCL and they confirmed that Naples is June 1 and Civitavecchia (Rome) is June 2.

I'm glad that I don't have to call our private tour co. and try to change things !:scared1:

This is all very disturbing - especiallly for those of us who have private tours booked! I am going to call tomorrow and see what answer I get. It will be very difficult if the private tour companies cannot accommodate us on the other days. I wish we knew for sure!

My wife and two daughters (12 & 14) are interested in sharing a private tour of the Amalfi Coast in Naples. If you are interested, let us know; information on the tour is included below. Thanks.
-Jon

We would start out with an 8am pick up from the ship in Naples and spend the morning driving towards and along the Amalfi Coast, learning about the history, culture and modern day aspects of the area, with views and photo opportunities of

• - Vesuvius
• - The islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida
• - The Bay of Naples
• - Sorrento

From Sorrento we then drop onto the spectacular Amalfi drive, the famous windy road with its breathtaking views that takes us first to the town of Positano. Here you can stroll down to Positano's beachfront, passing by the characteristic shops, cafes and boutique hotels that make this village so coveted by the jet set.

From there we continue to drive south, stopping here and there for the amazing views and photos to be had, passing through the towns of Praiano, Conca dei Marini, Furore and on to Amalfi, where you can have a chance to walk around in Amalfi's quaint city center and out on the waterfront complete with an accessible beach and port that harbors the simple fishing boats as well as the yachts of the well-to-do.

Based on your priorities, along the way there are options to see how the local artisans do the inlaid woodwork that has been famous in the Sorrento area for centuries and/or visit a local ceramics factory in the small village of Conca Dei Marini.

Depending on your groups' wishes, you can have lunch on your own while in Amalfi, or we can arrange to stop at a very reasonably priced local family-style trattoria for a proper Italian lunch of local fare such as fresh homemade pasta, pizza from a wood burning oven and/or seafood dishes made from seafood caught that very day. Local wine made from grapes harvested and pressed just minutes away is on tap and the limoncello isn't far behind. The restaurant is in a little town high above Amalfi where tourists don't usually go, so your group would get a little local flavor.

After lunch, we will take in the views of the hilltop town of Ravello, famous for its villa gardens and its music festivals. From here we drive through the Lattari mountains with its chestnut forest and breathtaking landscape that provides more views from on high. stopping on the way for a taste of the most delicious Granita di Limone (Lemon Ice) made from the famous lemons of the region. We then journey back on the highway to your ship in Naples.

We got upgraded :banana::banana::banana:

Cindy, shall I just update things directly on the FE list?

BTW, we don't mind adding another family to the FE list (another poster asked not too long ago...).

Yes please update the list. I can't do that at work, I have to wait until I get home to do that and I may forget.

I am new to this, so I had a couple of questions....

What is the FE list?

How do the upgrades work? How do you request an upgrade?

Any information you can share would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jon

Jon,

We have a list of people participating in the FE (fish extender). Outside each stateroom is a light and the cover is a fish. We hang little pockets on them and exchange little gifts. We closed the list on 31 March so people would be able to get theirs made before the cruise.

Upgrades - I booked a 5C GTY room, meaning I was guaranteed to have no less than at 5C stateroom. About 45 days out Disney looks at what has sold and what hasn't then they start moving people up into the more expensive rooms so they can resell the cheaper rooms, hoping to sell out every room. Some of us are lucky enough to get an upgrade, we did last year and again this year. When you get to the port you can ask for an upgrade if they have any rooms left, but you have to pay for it. It's free if they just give it to you.

Could you please give me your information so I can add you to the roll call so everyone know who is coming? I inlcude everyones name to the first page of this thread and then to the website I created for this cruise. You can get lots of information from my website. Just click on the link in my signature.

I just got off the phone with DCL and I am more confused :confused3 now as to what the situation with the itinerary is.

First, the guy said that the days were changed and that we were going to Rome first, then Naples. I said "Are you sure - is this documented anywhere, and are we going to get any notification of this in the mail or by e-mail?" and he put me on hold and came back and said that no, it is not changed. :rolleyes1

What do we trust? The website or the DCL employees?

Okay, well.....I called again because they haven't called me back. AAAANNNNDDD, she was sooooo rude. She told me that it could be 24 - 48 hours before they get back with me. So that means I should get an answer tomorrow because it has already been 24 hours. Then she told me that I should ONLY book my excursions through Disney because these things can happen and they can change the ports anytime they want.

I hope whoever calls me back is less rude.

I can't believe that there is so much confusion on this. I don't understand why they can't give a definite answer. I kind of hope it is changed, but only if we can get our tour guides to pick us up on a different day.

Well, Sue (a supervisor) just called me back to let me know that they are having a problem with the computers and they are trying to get it fixed. Our original schedule is correct. There has been no change to our itinerary.

But, I'm still going to call a few days before we leave and make sure. This is really bothering me.

We received our cruise documents yesterday. They show the original itinerary, except for Naples, which indicates leaving the port at 7:00pm rather than 9:00pm. We also called today, and received confirmation that the dates had not changed but the Naples departure time has changed to 7:00pm.

I just wish they would update the website, as it bothers me that it still shows a different itinerary.

Cindy - Here is our information:

the_cave_crew (Jon)
DW (Beth)
DD (Alyssa) 14
DD (Emma) 12
Celebrating: The first time going to Europe with the girls.
Stateroom: 6012

What purse did you get? I'm looking for a new bag for this trip, since I'm certainly not carrying the diaper bag :rotfl2: DH can carry that :rolleyes1

I ended up buying the PacSafe CitySafe 200 Secure Shoulder Bag. I couldn't decide between the 100 or 200. I decided in the end that bigger is better :). I also got a pacsafe camera strap because I LOVE my camera and would be really upset if it got stolen. I considered not bringing it with me, but then I decided I would be more upset with not having awesome pictures.

That is the camera strap we purchased last year. We also purchased the PacSafe Backpack and really like it too! It is quite large but serves the purpose and is meant for "Security". I am sure you will be happy with both of your purchases!

I have a contact with the Disney Sales office and spoke to them this afternoon regarding the mixup with the itinerary. She told me that it sometimes takes weeks to correct a problem like this on the website. It doesn't happen overnight. So maybe it will get fixed fast but just wanted to let you all know just in case it doesn't. Since the documents have come out and they have not contacted anyone about an itinerary change I am sure we are good to go.:woohoo:

I'm glad that the itinerary is the same. Although it would be less crowded in Rome if it had been switched, it would have been very painful to have to re-arrange two private tours, and try to get the Vatican tickets changed.

Is there a facebook page for the group? Is there any way to join the activities? A candy exchange, FE, etc. Did I miss the spread sheet?
Since we are late comers, I understand. we did get to join the festivities on the eastern transatlantic.
Just wondering how to get involved. Thanks
