May 28, 2005 Mexican Riviera

We got our confirmation for the Pirate pirate: Snorkel and Sail in PV. Mazatlan and Cabo we will decide on later, may just walk around and see the sights on our own.

:cheer2:

We have not booked any excursions. We'll probably just walk around and do some sight seeing. In Cabo San Lucas there is a very good restaurant called the Shrimp House. Excellent shrimp and lobster. We are definitely looking forward to going back there.

Haven't been here in a while, but glad to see more than the couple of us who were at the start of this thread! I am getting excited about this!

Looks like the biggest group of kids will be our 5 yo DDs...maybe we should have a 5 yo girl get-together when we get on board (mine will be happy to play cruise director Julie). I can't wait to tell her about all the other girls coming too...she will be so excited!

On our last cruise in December, the spa on the ship offered special treatments for the younger girls on board (my DD was 9 at the time). Do you know if the spa on the Magic has something similar? I would love to do a mother/daugther pampering.

That sounds like a lot of fun. My DD can't wait to go. She will be just shy of her 6th birthday. My other DD will be 10 and is excited to be with the pre-teen club.

Jedisan...I've got one that will have just turned 10 too (boy, though instead of girl)! He's looking forward to the science stuff onboard.

I think a little girl tea with our bunch of 5s would be loads of fun, especially since we are all stuck on the boat the first two days....hmmm...maybe somebody who knows the layout of the boat better than me can pick a spot!

Also...tell me more about the mother/daughter spa stuff...that sounds right up our alley! We will have a grandma w/us as well and that would be an awesome 3 generation thing to do! princess:

My 5 year old (turns 5 in April) will be very excited if we have a 5 yo girl get-together on board. Maybe they can say hello (through us online before hand). My DDs name is Kelly and will be thrilled to meet the other girls!!

My 5 is Emily...she just turned 5 in January...she was very excited when I told her about all the other 5 year old girls coming on board!
:thewave:

My five year old is Katie - she'll be six in June. I love the idea of a tea party. It will be her first one.

Great, easy names, Kelly, Emily & Katie. Any other young girls out there? I will tell Kelly Emily and Katie's names so she get familiar with them. Maybe we can plan to meet up when we all get on the boat. Maybe an ice cream at Scoops or the Mickey Pool? This will be our first cruise so we are up for anything.

It will be our first ever cruise! I will tell Em about the other girls...I think a Mickey bar at the icecream place sounds like a great tea party!
Funny thing is that Emi is the most excited about, of all things, FORMAL night! I just got my dresses, she already has one and ordered DS's tux. We've had to do dress up party already!

Challada,
Is your husband wearing a tux to formal night? What are other people's husbands wearing? My husband has a suit but not a tux? Is it necessary to wear one? I am definitely going to dress up as will my two DDs.

Well, my DH has a tux...so, yes, he would be wearing his to formal night....grandpa who is coming w/us also has his own so wearing it as well (but protesting it already). Only problem is we just found out last night that DH is having some major job restructuring mid-May and may not get to go :guilty: of course, I have already told him I don't mind going solo w/the kids ;)

OH...FYI, forgot to add that I am buying DS's tux new off ebay as they have lots in the $20-$50 range which is still cheaper than a rental!

DH is wearing a nice suit, DSs will be wearing suits also, I have a nice black dress to wear.

My DH will be wearing a nice suit. We all try to color coordinate (no matching outfits). For our last cruise a couple of years ago there were two formal nights. We all did something purple one night and silver and black another night. My DH's tie and shirt worked with our dresses. We renewed our wedding vows on that cruise and it was a lot of fun to have the kids with us to watch us get married all over again.

I think my DH will probably wear a suit for formal night. He and my father wear the same size though so DH may decide to borrow DF's. My stepdad will wear his tux. I will probably just wear a black dress that I already have which has some beading on the sleeves.

My DD would love to join in the ice cream/tea party. She turns 7 in April. I believe she and the 5 year olds would be in the same age group in the clubs.

Are any of you planning to make Palo reservations? We want to but I have no idea which night to plan for. Because my mom and stepdad will be staying in a cat 3, we can make reservations in advance. I figure that nights 1,2, and 3 are out because we don't want to miss the show in AP. I don't want to miss night 7 either since that will be the final night. That leaves nights 4,5,& 6. I'm thinking we'll try for nights 4 or 5 since those are nights we're in PV and Mazatlan. I'm guessing they would be less likely to have a special event on those nights since people will be getting back to the ship later.

We are thinking the same thing for Palo's - night 4 or 5. That will be one of the first things we try to do when we get on the ship.

I told my DD, Katie, about meeting the other girls for the ice cream "tea party." She's very excited.

Are there any 10 to 12 year old girls? My DD, Sarah, will be 10 and is looking forward to being with the pre-teen crowd!

We were hoping to do Palo night 4 also, but since DH is not joining us now and I am "flyin' solo" w/the kids, I just don't think it would be all that romantic to dine by myself (or with my parents, LOL)! So you can have our shot at Palo since I'll be skipping it! :guilty:

DD is ver excited to meet the other girls...and please have your 7 yo join in the ice cream party! My DD is a tiny 5 yo who is pretty mature for her age (has dance and gymnastics w/girls MUCH older) so would get along great w/your 7!

Jedisan...I have a 10 too but he's a boy...he's getting nervous about there not being other "older" kids aboard, but I've explained there sure will be...maybe our two 10 yo's need an ice cream party too! LOL :rotfl2:

It will be intersting to see how many kids will be on board since this is a Disney Cruise, but I think school is still in session. We are pulling our kids out for the week (fortunately, with it being Memorial Day weekend they are only missing 4 days). We make arrangements with the school to do home schooling. So, they will still be doing homework on their vacation :teacher: . They get full credit for those days. We did this on our last cruise a couple of years ago and it worked great.

Challada, my 10-year old DD loves science. She's looking forward to making lots of new friends.

Only 12 more weeks to go. Seems like yesterday it was 12 months!

I think our two scientists might just get along in the end!

We are still in session here in WA, but where I grew up in the south, they would already be out by then. I am taking mine out of school for 6 school days (we HAVE to DL before) which is my compromise b/w this and the 14 day cruise (which would have taken them out for 15 days)....I also can't see doing Mexico in the middle of the summer (too HOT :sunny: ).

Here in WA, 4th graders have the big stakes testing...and it falls right before we go...so I think my 10 yo deserves a break at that point!
