This Cruise thread doesn't seem to have much activity. Is there another one somewhere that I am missing? I thought there would be more people going on the first Disney Cruise sailing on the West Coast?

If I'm missing a more active thread, please let me know. I'm so excited about this trip and I'd love to correspond with others getting ready to sail on May 28th!!

I agree with you guys. This thread is pretty quiet for the first ever cruise out of LA. Check out the repositioning thread. They have a lot of activity going on there. Maybe, everybody is waiting to get closer to the cruise date.

Maybe the lack of activity is because of so little information for planning purposes. I check the list on a daily basis.

Anyway, I'm very excited about the cruise. One of the other threads is speculating on when formal and informal nights will be. I hope this will get announced before we sail, but I'm guessing formal night will be Sunday and informal night will be Thursday.

I'm wondering how much information we will get ahead of time. We are special because we are the first ones, but it does leave a lot of unknowns and that his hard for a compulsive planner like myself.

I wish we knew which nights would be formal night and which one is semi formal? I am guessing formal will be the 2nd or 3rd night and semi-formal will be night 6. Anyone else have more definite info?

Since we will be on the first West Coast cruise, is anyone wondering what kind of problems that we are going to encounter just because this will be new to the CM's also. Or does Disney have their act so together that everyone will be totallly prepared.

I'm not concerned for myself. I figure that I'll go prepared to cut them a little slack and to "go with the flow" (not something that comes easy to me, BTW). What concerns me is how others on the cruise will react if no one seems to know quite what is going on or if things don't quite go the way they were planned. I don't want to be around a lot of upset people. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I was just thinking about this too.

I was looking at pictures of the Cape Canaveral terminal and it looks so cool with the Mickey Ears and the whole terminal decorated very "Disney" I wonder if there will be any of that in the Los Angeles terminal? I sure hope so, but it seems like maybe there won't be since they are only doing what 12 weeks of cruising from LA?

I hope we don't miss out on too much of the Disney magic because it is a temporary port. I was also thinking about whether they will have everything "together" for the 1st cruise. Aren't they arriving that morning (May 28th) from the Panama Canel relocation cruise? I hope they work all all the "bugs" beforehand if possible!!

YOu guys aren't going to believe this. Shirley has found a florist in Calif. who will make up gift baskets for those going on the Magic. I was wondering what we were going to do for a gift basket for my mom who is turning 70 on the cruise. Shirley is sooooo thoughtful. We've been so spoiled by her wonderful basket creations.

The port in Los Angeles has other cruise ships utilizing the port facilities and should have the basic set up for checking in passangers. There might be a few glitches, but Disney knows how to do things. We were on the maiden voyage of the Magic and can testify that Disney learned quickly after the initial problems on the maiden voyage. The ports of call should be OK because two of the three will be visited on the Panama Canal cruise and any problems addressed before the 1st West Coast Cruise. We are anticipating a great sail-away party on deck as this will be the first Disney cruise out of LA.

Disney offers several gift baskets and flower arrangements to be delivered to staterooms. Probably receive info when tickets are mailed. Alex

Thanks Firsttimers. We've done both and we were able to get exactly what we wanted from Shirley. I just thought that it was so thoughtful of Shirley to do some of the leg work for us. The sail away decorations and petit fours from Disney were very nice.

I looked at the website Shirley recommended and I couldn't find any photos of giftbaskets? Just flowers. Do you know if there are photos somewhere of the different Disney gift baskets they create? Or do you need to send them everything?

Hi fellow cruisers. We are getting close to the 100 day mark. Anyone decided on excursions yet ? We are still looking and deciding.

We have settled on the Canopy Tour for Puerto Vallarta. This was my idea and my husband is still looking at me like are you really sure (I'm somewhat afraid of heights). I found this web site with a video of the adventure and it looks like a great thrill ride. For Maztalan, I'm leaning towards Randi' horses.

That leaves kayaking (must do at least once) for Cabo San Lucas.

We will have a just turned 5 year old and a 22 month old with us. I would love to try that Canopy thing but I think I will send just my husband and I'll watch the kids (since he is big into Rock Climbing). I was thinking of taking the girls to the Hotel/Beach Excursion that day while he is at the Canopy excursion. The pictures of the pool at the hotel look really nice. I'm not sure what we will do at the other two stops. I think it will be tough with our Toddler. I don't think many of the Excursions allow little ones?? I've been to Cabo 3 times so I would probably be okay just going to a restaurant (my older daughter loved the Hard Rock Cafe there - I know not very Mexican but they let her play the drums in the lobby). I would love to go on a Santa Maria beach trip but again I doubt they will allow the baby to go?

I've noticed that many of the Cruise Meets threads for other dates for the Mexican Cruises are REALLY active. I wonder if I should be reading them for ideas since this thread seems to be slow? I guess there aren't that many people going from this board. I think the ship is sold out though?

My wife, my son (age 5) and myself will be at Disneyland Grand Californian starting on 5/25 and then jump on the inagural cruise on 5/28.

We are staying in 8534. Looking forward to the Cat 3.

My wife and I are looking at the shore excursions and trying to decide which ones for us. Beach sounds like just the ticket as we are looking to relax.

We are also trying to decide if we should leave our son on the ship and head out on at least one of the shore days for some adult time. Read a few posts about that and I think we are ok with it. I have a GSM cell phone so they could contact us in emergency.

Would love to meet up with other DIS'ers and hear what you know about the shore excursions. I will be waiting to see what the folks who come through the canal on the transition cruise say about them since they get the first shot at what Disney has set up.

Did you book the Grand Californian thru Disney or your Travel Agent? We have stayed there twice in the past. Beautiful place but quite pricey

I was wondering if they are offering discounts for us Cruisers? I talked my husband into the cruise, but I don't know about a $300 a night room before hand.
