May 26, 2010--5/26/2010 10 Night Mediterranean

I need to answer some people on some posts but got a call from friend this morning whom I went to HS with and we both became nurses and have worked together since. Her BF of 10 years had massive heart attack last night and she found him on kitchen floor when she came home last night. He was 46 and a real sweety! Im not trying to bum anyone out but all she kept saying this morning on the phone was we had so many plans and places they wanted to go but she said we just never did. I think about how Tom and I discussed this cruise and can we really afford it and should we and just makes me feel even better about it. I always say life is too short and you have to enjoy it but you never really undertsand that until something like this
happens.
Im glad everyone has decided to do this and take their families because all that will be worth it when we see all the smiles on the kids and adults while were cruising and making magical memories .
Ok sorry for the somber post and I will try to get back to everyone as soon as I can on their questions.

My heart goes out to her. This next Wednesday will the the two year anniversary of my husband's death. He was 41. Life really is too short.

They did not tell me what the shows were, however, you can tell from the description of the evenings in the dining rooms for example Pirates and Villans would be the same as Pirates in the Carribbean which means a Pirate deck party. Hope this helps. As far as what I meant by rotational the concierge explained to me that it is just a normal night in the dining room without a special theme.

Thanks so much. I guess this time of year will be difficult every year.

Threebritts - thanks for your gentle reminder to never take our loved ones for granted. I never take it for granted that I am going on this wonderful cruise to celebrate my parents' 50th anniversary, and that I have such an incredible opportunity to take my kids on this trip. I am very sorry for your friend though.

TammyAlphabet - I think it's wonderful that you are taking this cruise anyway... some people who are in mourning don't feel capable of traveling without their significant others, and you are to be commended. It takes a very strong person to keep on living!

Traceyjayne - I got your PM but can't respond because I'm not yet at 10 posts yet... darn!!!! My answer to your question is that I don't have Julie's email. I guess if it were me, I'd just post another message over on CC and say, "Julie, please contact me to follow-up re: excursions." And leave an email where she can get in touch.

Marlower - I got your message about the other 14-year-old girls too. Do you think your daughter would want to meet somebody else her own age? When I told Jocelyn about this, she used the favorite word of teenagers these days: "Awkward." Still, if she likes people she meets, then she's not afraid to hang out. Perhaps we could have a breakfast or lunch on the 1st sea day for the teen girls?

On our last cruise, there were two 16 year old girls that chatted here on the boards before meeting and hung out a bit. Our then 14 year old boy met them both through the teen club, but I' m not remembering if he chatted before on the boards with them or not There are so many teens and the ship is large so the 14 year olds might not see each other often, but the teen club may be a good place for any of them since they have all sorts of activities nightly.:)

Hi Karen,

Don't you just love that word "Awkward"!! Too funny. My daughter and sinnika's daughter have been in communication via text a while back so I think it would be great for the girls to have someone to commiserate about how awkward their parents are:lmao: Anyone have suggestions of how best they can communicate now? I love the idea of getting them together, the teen club would probably be the best bet so us "awkward" parents are not around. Oh, and I made a huge mistake and typed that my daughter is 14 and indeed she is 15 and I heard about that for hours!! Awkward!!

Heidi,

No, I do NOT like that word AWKWARD. They use it for absolutely EVERYTHING. What amazes me is that it doesn't matter what part of the country the kids live in... AWKWARD is indeed THE word. :confused3

Are you guys on Facebook? :surfweb: I was thinking of starting a group for our cruise. Jocelyn is on FB, and it might be a cool way for the kids to see and get to know each other. She won't want to text with anybody she doesn't know.

We could do two groups... just a general Disney Magic May 26 Mediterranean cruise, and we could do another group: "Disney Magic May 26 Teens" with the subtitle "Kids whose moms met on the Dis boards and want us to meet up... isn't that AWKWARD????" :dance3: Then again, even joining that group might just to awkward for her. Who knows?

Thoughts?

Facebook would be a great idea, then we can see what we all look like as well as chat if we want too!!

Love it and I actually laughed out loud about the title for the teens! FB is a great idea!

But Disboards won't let me post the link because I'm not yet at 10 posts. I'll do it in the next post.

Here is the general group:

Here is the group for teens:

BTW, this being Doppelganger week on FB, that is actually not my picture... ha! A friend of mine said I look like Nicole Tom, so I posted her picture. You'll just have to wait until next week when I go back to a regular profile picture to see what I really look like.

Anyway, please join everybody! Will be fun to see each other. Oh, and please encourage your teens to join the teens group. We should let them run the site and be the admins for it.

There are 3 main restaurants on the ship: Luimiere's, Parrot Cay, and Animator's Palate. You will rotate restaurants each night along with your wait staff who will follow you, so you will have the same servers for the entire cruise. When you board, you will know your dining rotation, and on the 10 night, I'm assuming that we will visit each restaurant at least 3 times. Not sure what "rotational nights" means. You will be at the same table # in all 3 restaurants, seated with the same tablemates. If you are a family of 4, there is a good chance that you will be seated with another family. If there are 2 of you, you may be seated with other pairs of 2. Tables can be as large as 18 but that is usually only because a large group requested it that way. If you meet people on this board and you are dining at the same time (1st or 2nd), you may consider requesting to link dining reservations with them. Then you will be seated together. I would recommend NOT linking though until everyone has booked excursions as that can mess up ressies somehow.

THANKS SINNIKA!

Thank you for the info on the new Novotel hotel opening in March. I just got a family room and saved over $500 from the previous hotel I had reserved!!!

Also, is anyone from the Denver area? I am still searching for flights and haven't had much luck with the prices!

Looking forward to our first cruise ever.
