May 25th, 2008 West Coast - Mexico

oops! posting the same time as Mary...wasn't trying to leave you out by suggesting 2 o'clock! :grouphug: I'm open to whatever maybe we should schedule 2 different ones?

wow leave you guys alone for half a day and look at all I miss!:rotfl:
Sheesh, what were you thinking, you know you can't leave us for a minute! :lmao:

On that note - is there anyone still on the fence? Would anyone object to closing the sign up off at 20 days out? If anyone else like me is ordering things 2 weeks might be a little tight to get the order in time. If you prefer to wait until the original 2 weeks, that's ok to I will just overestimate and spread pixie dust to others not lucky enough to have found DIS boards yet:dance3:
I'm good with 20 days out, but that's because I'm stressing to get it all done and packed early, but I will curb my OCPD (Obsessive Compulsive Planning Disorder) as needed. ;)

Now on to the little problem of a meet time.....Should we just move it up an hour? or have a slumber party in a certain someone's swanky suite:rolleyes1 :rotfl:
Girlfriend - what are you going on about now? no idea what you mean... swanky suites... slumber parties... But seriously, our meet is a bit of a challenge now. We could probably have it at 3:30 after the mandatory safety drill, but the decks will start getting quite busy at this time as the sail away party will start at 4:00 now with us sailing at 4:15. My personal preference would be to make it sooner 2:00 or even 2:30 because we're hoping to hit the buffet and eat by the pool for lunch so we'd be hanging out there already. But, we don't want to miss or leave anyone out, so we're happy to do whatever works for everyone!

Another thought...would someone who knows for sure what cabin they will be in be willing to take extra copies of the fish extender list and maybe tuck into the top pocket of your fish extender for those unable to make the meet to pick up? That might make it easier for more to participate. Since we all know I'm hoping to purchase an upgrade at the gate if available I don't want to use my cabin # then not be there.
If no one else signs up for this, we can do it. We are a bit tight with 6 people/3 families in our 3 fish extender pockets - but we will definitely make it work if needed. - great idea btw!

OK...I'll vote for a quick meet at 2:15 or 2:30 to allow more time for Mary to get in and join us. You shouldn't have too many papers in your fish extender and I'm sure those who would need to do it that way would be willing to pick them up the first night to make room for goodies :goodvibes
Also....I know you got a princess fish extender...maybe I could make you an extender extension? I could try to match the princesses or do 2 different themes /colors to represent the three different familial (am I making up words here?) units? If you could post a picture I would be willing to try. We could use stick on velcro or pins to attach to yours I'm thinking. OK...I'll confess and say I'm queen of coming up with ideas and then my poor mom ends up doing most of the sewing....she has a better machine though! :rotfl:

Melissa I think we are going to get along very well!!
Go ahead and do the meet at at 2p-215p-230p whatever people want. We are going to come straight from the airport with all all docs done ahead of time. We are traveling with extended family but I will just run ahead yelling "I gotta meet my DIS buddies" :) If I miss you all for some reason I will have your cabin numbers and stalk you- I mean leave a polite note asking when I can barge into your swanky suite-I mean buy you a drink :)
Mary:cool1:

ok just ahd to share! One of the DISigners made this for us. We are celebrating our anniversary a bit early on the cruise. Cannot tell you how "us" this picture is :rotfl:

Ok now. I hate when things hit me all at once! I didnt realize that it is MAY. It is the panic count down. My May calander is booked solid with things to do. I will go by bus, plane or just plain old walk to get on this boat because I need this vacation. I plan on calling each day to the body shop to make sure the car is at least in driveable condition. I do have good news that my little guy is potty trained so he will be joining the kids program so while he is in there I will be celebrating and invite my DIS friends for a drink! Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!! This trip was so far away and now it is so close, time does fly by. Now where is my to do list???

You all are just going on and on and on today:rotfl2:

I'm ok with any time we all agree on. We will be getting there early, so we should be ok on time.

I'd be happy to help with whatever we need to do to help with the 'fish' thing.

Ok, on the giving! I'll just keep giving! Family and children:love:

Next week is full for us. It's Teacher Appr. Week, and I have signed up to HELP:eek: It's always a fun week, but lot's to do EACH day;) Plus, I have two different schools to help. Why.....oh why.....ok, I love my kids....I do I do I do:lovestruc

Ok, maybe, I can borrow some luggage from my neighbors ....ummmmm that just might work:rolleyes1

Nicole
Great news on the potty training!! If you miss it I will let you change my little ones diaper HA HA. Keep checking on that car!!
Kim We were chatty today! Can't wait to meet everyone!
Mary:cool1:

Wow, great posts, everyone! We have been assigned a cabin, too. Deck 6, a category 11. Right next door to my sister and her family! My mom and stepdad are up on deck 7, as they have a verandah (guess where we'll be hanging out?). My mom got their documents today, but we haven't gotten ours yet. Perhaps tomorrow?

I was on the fence about the fish extender gift exchange, but I've decided that I'm too stressed out right now to add another thing to the long list of things to do.

I do really want to meet up with everyone, though. We should be able to get to the port early, and hopefully on the ship early, as we're staying at the Doubletree. So hopefully we'd be done with lunch by 2:15 or so. I think it's a better idea to do it before the safety drill as to not get in the way of the sail away party. I'd hate to miss that one!!

Also, our son just got potty trained, too! Talk about last minute.

Jenny Yay for more potty training! Do not worry about the exchange. Looking forward to meeting you!!
Mary

Hi all:goodvibes
Looks like the further adventures of POTTY man have taken a turn for good and justice to all of Humanity..:worship: Sorry to hear about the car Nicole:scared1: but, it will all work out for the cruise..The meet at 200-215 (1400) is great..We worked on the fish extender last night and found that the design was too intricate to work with the material..New plan for extender is in the works.Would anyone who has flown lately advise if you have used the TSA locks on your luggage or do they just cut them off anyway?Getting close now and we got our tax stimulis today in our account:cheer2: now to spend it on bills... Talk later.. jrppirate:

You know, I'm not really sure what we have - since my sister has decided to be VERY secretive. :confused3 She's told me it's done and she hopes we'll like it (I'm sure we will), but she's keeping all the details a surprise. I tried talking her in to sending me a pic, so I could see it, but no luck, she's being very... :ssst: But, it occurred to me that the fish extender hangs down but the fish is still open for DCL to put notes and papers in and we can always use that - put a few sheets in the actual fish - so I think it works. Go ahead and PM the participants my stateroom if they need to pick up a paper. I might also get a magnet holder of some kind, so we can just put them on the door - I've been considering a magnetic white board also - for messages.

If I miss you all for some reason I will have your cabin numbers and stalk you- I mean leave a polite note asking when I can barge into your swanky suite-I mean buy you a drink :)

Dis-stalking :tiptoe:

Speaking of suite's and drinking. A certain Dis-er :flower3: has mentioned bringing some local wines and since we couldn't really hit on a time/date for an in suite wine get together, I had considered at our Mickey Pool meet to discuss a day and time we could do it. I'm sure I could get concierge to help with some goodies, and if I do get the whiteboard, I can post it on our door, for anyone interested.

This might be a good idea, if you have your stateroom assigned and aren't going to try to upgrade, this way we would have the extra lists in 2 places on the ship. :thumbsup2

Missing diaper changing made me snort my coffee! :lmao:

That's what mom's are for. ;) Congratulations to you and the little guy on the potty training!

Hi everyone!

I just returned from Joann's! Love that place and just couldn't get out without buying extra little gifts:love: I found the most helpful woman who held my hand on 'how to make a fish extender'. She was really impressed with what we are all doing:thumbsup2 I can only hope to get it all done now.

The most funniest thing happened when I was in there, I hear oh there is that DIS'er girl! It was a lady from my DD school and she had her Cast-a-way shirt on:thumbsup2 We were talking and talking! Oh, my god I said, this is so amazing, she really understood just how excited I am:banana:

I read on a thread about bringing 'drinks'. Someone posted that they actually bring a 12pk and rum etc! They said no problems. Any way, I'm not bringing rum, but I am planning on bringing several bottles of our local wines. If anyone is interested.....not sure when, where just yet. We can talk about it pool side:cool2: Are there wine drinkers?

:disrocks:

Hello there!
Boy, has this thread been busy! So have I--been out of town the last two weekends and I'm going to Vegas May 16-19th :cool1: so I can't even think about packing for the cruise until I unpack from Vegas! I will be trying my hardest to win some $$$ to buy you all a drink at the sailaway party :drinking1
I AM going to get my fish extender done this next week. Anytime for the DIS meet will work for us. We are also staying at the Doubletree and are planning on getting to the port early. We really want to get on board ASAP to get Palo brunch ressies...
Gotta run now and work on door signs, fish extender, online shopping....23 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!party:

I am a wine drinker!! We used to live in Santa Barbara and would go up to Santa Ynez at least once a month. I am a huge Zaca Mesa fan. I really like reds. Count me in!!

Mary:cool1:

Hey Mary, I live in Santa Maria. How long ago did you live in SB?
Here I am in the heart of wine country and I don't drink wine (but I'll take a fruity martini anyday!). I won't lie either...I'd love to see the swanky suite too- so generous of you to offer Ellen.:goodvibes

Yay! SO glad this thread is really jumping now:cool1: ! I'm in for swillin' :drinking1 at the swanky suite party: (ok...I've had a long day but it made me laugh anyway) I drink a glass of red every now and again....but I'm with Rebecca and the fruity martinis most of the time...fruity anything mostly....maybe I'm just fruity :lmao: (ok I'm definitely heading to bed after this message :rotfl: )

Since their were no objections and a few positive comments I am officially changing the fish extender sign up to 20 days out. SO if you would like to join in and have not already done so, please PM me.

Off to go dream packing and to do lists :rotfl2:

Thought this may help anyone who is interested in bringing 'drinks' on board.

It says we can, as long as it fits through x-ray.

Sounds like we will indeed have a small wine tasting moment in the swanky room:cool1:

Just so you know, I like beer, but like a glass of wine with dinner or with friends:hug:

Hope everyone has a nice weekend:thumbsup2
