May 23,2014 - 24 Hours of MK @ WDW

We are flying in for the event too. Coming in on Thursday and leaving Sunday.

I woulda loved to stay at Contempory but at a 1000 for those nights---- didnt seem reasonable.
so we too are staying at Pop booked through orbitz for 307 for the entire weekend

There is nothing reasonable about any of the deluxes lol. That said, staffing at CR was a dream I had from about 3 years old. I sort of regret wasting the money on CR again for the last trip.

Disney rooms are tiny for the price and CR is no exception. You can't beat the view though. Personally I'd never stay at CR unless it was TPV, the transport on deluxe lines is awful, although walking to MK is where it's at.

I'm terribly afraid that the park will max out at capacity for the 24 hour celebration...this is the only reason I am resistant to going back for a nap/rest. Is anyone else concerned? Last year it was jammed pack with little notice...this time people are planning their vacations around it, I'm convinced we're all going to be sardines.

Hey, we will be at OKW as well :) May 23rd is our DD's 7th birthday so we are taking her on a surprise trip for the 24 hr day ... we're super excited and can't wait to see her face when she realizes she's going to WDW for her birthday

What an amazing birthday surprise!!! I think when I was 7, I got a baseball glove...which was pretty cool, but it wasn't a trip to Disney. Have a blast, maybe we'll see you at OKW!

We will b there as well. We r celebrating our 11th wedding anniversary on the 24th. I think we will arrive at mk on the 23rd around 7pm and party to close. I'm dressing as Cinderella.

I think when they do close for capacity, it generally doesn't stay closed very long, right? I figure if they do wind up closing, I won't be terribly fussed about it as I will have already spent around 6 hours in the park and hopefully done everything I wanted to do then.

Our DD keeps talking about her birthday party and I'm thinking she will be pretty excited when she finds out she's spending it with Mickey & Minnie :) Happy Birthday to you and hope we see you at OKW!

Hey, we will be at OKW as well :) May 23rd is our DD's 7th birthday so we are taking her on a surprise trip for the 24 hr day :cool1: Our plan is to pick her up from school and reveal the surprise as we will fly at 5pm on the 22nd. We'll get to MK for 5:30am on 5/23, but we won't make it 24 hrs with our birthday girl and her 3 yr old brother ;) Nevertheless, we're super excited and can't wait to see her face when she realizes she's going to WDW for her birthday :goodvibes
My DD's 7th birthday is May 25th!! We plan to be there that day too, along with her 4 yr old brother.

Our plan is also RD until a late afternoon nap. We are staying at BLT so we may wake them up in the middle of the night and return for a few hours. Is that crazy?

This trip is a gift for my wife's 40th birthday. She would have just turned 40 a the week before so we will he celebrating the entire 24hrs at MK. So excited! Thinking about dressing up too.
Our trip is a belated 40th for my DH (May 3). We'll be at the 24 hr too! Great way to celebrate!

How nice! Special 7th birthdays for sure this year! Looks like our kids are the same age. Our DS will be 4 in August :)

Our "home" resort is the BW but we could only get OKW when we booked a few months ago. We've never stayed at OKW so I am looking forward to trying it, though I admit that with the 24 hr day, I wish we were at BLT!

Crazy to wake them up? Some may say yes, but we would absolutely do it if we were at BLT :cheer2: How often can you say you were in the MK at 4am?? Unfortunately for us OKW is a little far for that trip :(

I'll be there! My birthday is also the 23rd! We are local, and we went to last year's event. Our plan was to drive to Orlando after work, check in to the hotel, take a nap, and head to the park around 8 p.m. Instead, we both overslept and didn't wake up until 11! We got into the park just before midnight, and waited in line to meet Mickey and Minnie. We rode a couple of rides, but mostly hung out on Main Street and participated in the dance party.

:cool1: pixiedust:

This year, we have the same plan going in, but I definitely do not want to oversleep. I'm turning 30 this year, so I want to try to get in as many hours as possible! I wish I could go for the whole 24 hours, but the Friday before Memorial Day is a restricted day at my job.

How crowded is MK in this 24 hours day?

I attended "One More Disney Day" in 2012. We just happened to have a trip planned and arrived around 8pm. They had fireworks at 8 and as we tried to enter the park, masses of people were trying to exit. It took us 30 mins to get down Main Street as we literally got log jammed by the castle hub. Backstage exits were opened to relieve the jam. We tried to get dinner at Cosmic Rays but lines were to the door. We had more luck at Village Haus. Lines for rides and characters were at least an hour long. We ended up walking around, shopping (all the special merchandise was long gone) and then leaving before 11am (I had 3 kids & baby.)

We skipped 24 hour party last year, but we are going to try it this year -- we'll be there early.

Crazy? No way! Best parents award in my book! ::yes::

Hope you have a great birthday at the event Loulou! Us May 23 birthdays should have a special meet and greet - I mean how often does that happen??? It would make for a great photo!

Maybe meet at RD, 6 a.m.!:dance3:

wow-- I never thought to wake them up and go again about 2am what an awesome thought

do you think they will have special meet and greets out this day?

Anybody know if Disney buses will be running to/from the resorts during the entire event? I'm also hoping they run buses very early that morning since it's a 6am opening.

We'll be there too for the 24 hour celebration, first trip without the kids (well, since they were born...it's been 10 years!)...I can't wait!!!!!

Our plan:

Leave ASM at 4am, to be at MK for opening.
9:00 KTTK Tour
2:15 BOG FP+

**This is the part of our plan where my DH and I disagree***
HIS choice: return to hotel for nap/rest after lunch
MY choice: stay at park for the entire 24 hours ;)

7:35 Dinner at The Crystal Palace

Then go where the mood strikes up. I'd LOVE to stay the entire 24 hours, but my DH isn't too sure he can make it.

We have no park plans for Saturday, but we do have two ADRs for lunch and dinner.

I am super excited!!!:banana::yay:

WOW! You guys should totoally stay for the entire 24 hours. there is risk that the park may get too busy in the evening and they have been know to shut down the entrance due to capacity. I've heard of people leaving mid day and not able to get back in during the evening.

Hope fully that may change your DH's mind about staying.

This will be our first trip without the kids since their birth too, 10 years too... How funny! We are actually on the 9am KTTK Tour. It would seem we both had the same ideas when planning this trip. We are celebrating my wife's 40th on this trip.

We should totally meet up. PM me if you are interested.

From what I have read they will start running at 5am from all the resorts to get guest there for 6am.

I'm thinking that may be too late for us and the buses may be very crowded. We may just arrange for a taxi.

If anyone is stay at POP and planning to be there for the opening and want to share non-Disney transportation, PM me and we can try to make arrangements. We are planning to be there by 4:30ish to start soaking in all the MAGIC!
