I don't FREAKIN believe this...I live in in South FL, at the very bottom of the state, just before you start driving to the Keys. We are referred to as "Hurricane Alley", mainly because Hurricane Andrew wiped out the town we live in, Homestead, back in 1992.
ANYWAY, hurricane season doesn't even start until June 1 and this morning, all of the news stations are already "Tracking the Tropics", for several of their forecast models are showing what looks like a tropical system developing near the southeast tip of Florida (either on the Atlantic or Gulf side) sometime Mon-Thurs of next week
The good news, at this point in the season and with water temps still relatively cool, the chances of the system becoming a hurricane are slim to none but we could have a tropical something on our hands or if anything, a major rain event come next weekend. Oh well, we need the rain desperately!
Might want to pack some ponchos for the sail away party!!
