I am thinking about a trip May 21st-28th. My question is? I know the parks will be crowded Saturday the 29th thourgh the summer , but what about my days of the 21st-28th, will we get by with light crowds,(Week after Thanksgiving kind of light?) This is our first trip with the girls (5yr and 6yr) and want it to be the best, but we can't go the first week of December like I had hoped. Please, any one who has traveled this week right before the memorial day weekend please let me know how it is! Thanks so much !

WE usualy go this week because local schools get out May 21. So crowds will be a factor, we find that if we take advantage of EMH (resort guests only) that around 1:00pm (when the crowds seem to converge) we are ready for a break so it's back to the resort for some swimming or naps. Plus this will be hottest time of day and YES it will be HOT. After we relax it's back to a park but not the park that opened early that day ie...you would still have EMH resort guest plus added outside guest at original park. With your 2 young children, you'll be wanting to go back to resort for so rest. EPCOT is great for afternoon and evening (your girls will love doing the mask and passports at WS) Also plan an evening trip for MGM Fantasmic and new Wishes at MK. I think that if you stay at Park all day many times you are just to tired to stay for these nighttime extravaganzas and the crowds at closing.::yes::

Maybe I'll see ya then here's PIXIE DUST :wizard: For your trip and planning.

Just noticed your a Florida Resident also, should be some good rates for us then (ya never know)

We were there this week in 2003. I agree with the poster that crowds and heat are an issue at this time. However, both were manageable. We didn't wait in line hardly at all, but did make sure we were there for Extra Magic Hour, and used Fastpass.

That being said, if this is the only time you can go....then you should definitely go for it. You can enjoy the pool and any day at Disney is better than a day at home no matter what the crowds and heat are like.

Thanks for the replys!:)

How would you compare the crowds to a June-Mid August kind of crowd?

Compared to June or Mid-August= light, with the exception of the Holiday, and much HOTTER. :sunny: ::yes::

This is the time we went in 2003. It was our first time so I have no other time period to gauge the crowds. Prior to Memorial Day, it was fabulous...from Memorial Day and after it was very crowded in my opinion...especially that Saturday of Mem. Day weekend at MGM. Monday of Memorial Day was insane at Blizzard Beach. It was very, very hot to us, but then again, we're New Englanders. :)

I'm going in February and hope at least it'll be cooler, even if part of the week is crowded.

Thanks for all the imput! Hot is ok for us, we live in Florida so we are use to it:sunny: I have been in the summer months and have waited 45min-90min in line for the rides and when walking could not see 2 feet in front because it is wall to wall people. I'm having a daynightmare just thinking about it:eek: If it will be anything like that I think I will just plan it for later on towards Christmas of next year. So please, any other end of May travelers give me your view of what it was like too.

When do you think the codes and AP rates will be released for these dates (May 21-28) so I can kind of keep an eye out?

Typically the AP and Florida Residence rates are released about 2-3 months in advance. You can keep checking here on DIS boards or MouseSavers.com That site has quite a lot of good information.::yes::

We were at WDW in May of this year, just before Memorial Day and thought it was great! The longest we waited for anything was 45 minutes and that was for Ariel's autograph. We will be returning the week leading into the Memorial Day holiday again next year and can hardly wait!
