May 21, 2012 - Mickey's Mooseketeers Take Alaska 2012!

That's odd... When I look at the plans for my July cruise on DCL's website, Pirate night is listed on the Cruise Activites Overview page. However, it's not there for the cruise next month - and the Sailaway Party is listed on the page.

Has anyone determined when our Pirate Night will be? Or formal/semi-formal nights? I have looked at some of the Navigators from last season, but there doesn't seem to be a set pattern. pirate:

This was the latest information we got from Disney after several phone calls by my daughter, by me and by our TA. I am pasting the posting my daughter wrote after all that was done. This was a few weeks back.

Ok, so now both my mother & I have called DCL, as well as our TA (at least twice more each). Pirate's night is now apparently set for night 5, which is Juneau day (I was originally told it was set for night 4, Skagway day). I suppose this is better, because we'll be leaving Juneau at 5:30pm, while Skagway is our longest in-port day leaving at 7:30pm.

So, here are the revised scheduled nights:
Mon - T A P
Tue - A P T (Formal/Captain's Gala Night)
Wed - P T A
Thu - T A P
Fri - A P T (Pirates Night)
Sat - P T A (Semi-Formal Night)
Sun - T A P

I was also told that one of the Alaska sailings won't have a Pirates night (no idea why), but that it wouldn't be ours.

You don't suppose they've changed their minds again, do you! This is getting to be a comedy of errors (a not so funny one) !!!

We just checked and the Pirates' party is listed on our Fantasy cruise for next year, as well, but not on our Cruise Activities for this cruise. Nonetheless, I just called DCL again and this time the cast member didn't have to go anywhere to look anything up. Her papers that she had in front of her showed the same information as I reposted just now with what Christy posted several weeks ago. She said Pirates' night was listed as being on night 5. So, let's hope we are getting accurate information. We'll see, I guess.

Do we know what menu's go with which nights? Or which night's are the regular dining menu's/shows? Because it looks like the folks who start in Triton's never have the regular AP menu/show, right? They would be in AP for Captain's Gala menu and Pirate menu. Sorry if this is a newbie question, but this whole rotating menus within rotating rooms is rather overwhelming.

I understand your question, but I don't have the answer. I hadn't noticed that it looks like the T starters would miss the A, the A starters would miss the P and the P starters would miss the T for regular dining. This is the rotation that they gave Christy when she called DCL. I just tried to call them again, but they closed 2 minutes ago (naturally!). I do know that we were originally told that Pirates' night was going to be on day 4, which would have made the rotation make more sense, but sometime after the first time we called, they changed Pirates' night to day 5. I'll try to call sometime tomorrow, but if you get to them first, post and let us know, OK? I've only been on one other 7 day cruise and I don't remember what it was there. Does anyone else have info on this?

Thanks,
Mary

Terri,
What is link dining?

Mary
hi mary it's sonja. linked dining is when we get to link our reservations so we rotate to the same restaurant on the same nights. we can sit at our own tables or we can sit together at bigger tables - whatever we tell them we want. Sometimes we sit close by each other sometimes we dont but we are in the same restaurant on the same night and that means more interaction - going to shows at the same time, having free time together to hang at the promenade lounge, or cove cafe ... that kind of thing.

Sonja,
Thanks! I thought it might be something like that, but hadn't really heard much about it before.

Good to know about Pirates night, but something is not right on the above. Assuming Sunday is "till we meet again" you don't have folks rotating thru all 3 rotation restaurants with the standard rotation menus.

I know. But this is what they told us when we called. Several times. I will check again tomorrow. The interesting part is that originally when we called they told us that PIrate night was on day 4, which would make this rotation make sense. Then they changed Pirate night to day 5. I wonder if they forgot to change the rotation when they did that. They may have changed it since we got this information, so I will let you all know when I find out.

We're staying at Best Western Pioneer Square, which is pretty near Amtrak, but we're mainly doing that because we are on the morning train, and they are about the only hotel I've found whose breakfast opens at 6:00 a.m.
It gets good reviews. Lots of downtown hotels are a short taxi ride to Amtrak. I think if the weather is nice, we can easily walk from Best Western.

Wow, looks like 3 of us will be taking advantage of the 6:00 am breakfast.

OK Folks,
After another lengthy phone session with DCL this morning, getting mixed (at best) information, I finally spoke with someone designated as a supervisor who said the whole thing was written up in a very confusing way and she had to go further up the ladder to get any kind of reliable information. She called me back about 3 hours later and said this is the final word. There will be a Pirates' night and it will be on Day 4-Skagway. The rotation is the same as what was listed on Christy's message that I reposted earlier, except that Pirates is now Day 4 instead of Day 5. There will be no fireworks but there will be a deck party and a buffet. The menu in the restaurants will not be the standard Pirates' menu, but will be substituted with the "Taste of Alaska" menu. This is the information Christy was given the first time she called about 3 months ago. Since then, it seems, they intermittently changed the timing for everything, and according to the lady I talked to, they were not certain there would be a Pirates' night until about a week ago! Go figure.

In any case, the final schedule is exactly what Christy was given in the first place. With Pirates' night on Day 4, the rotation I listed earlier makes sense.

Hopefully this is useful information for everyone. Although I wouldn't stake my life on its accuracy given all we have been told here, I am accepting it as accurate and if it changes when we get there, so be it :-) I think this is as good as it gets for now.

Why does rotation matter? Am I missing something that I should know?

It's getting close!

I know that we have a few B2B cruisers who are doing FE and I have not heard from them with their new cabin number. Please let me know so I can update the roll call and let Michelle know so she can update the FE list.

Also - if you are no longer a GTY status - let us know. It's getting close! We are going on Sunday to see some of our friends sail away to Hawaii.

avengers is on our list!

Ok, now that's just cool! :) I wanted to see this movie, now I get to see it for free (relatively speaking)! At least until my nephew tells me he wants me to take him to see it! ;)

Where did you find the listing of what movies will be showing?

It only matters if you prefer to be in one restaurant over another for different events...formal night, pirates night , etc. Some people want to choose. If that doesn't matter to you, then it's pretty irrelevant :-)
