Hey guys, my friend and I visited the World this past Saturday and here is my trip report!
We arrived at Disney's Hollywood Studios parking lot at 7:25 am and we got to the ticket booth to pick up his ticket at 7:35 am. While he is picking up his ticket, I glance over at the turnstiles and notice people are being let in. I'm getting all excited, but then thinking... there's probably a rope in the middle to stop people once you get in. So, we get inside the turnstiles and we continue walking. The park had an 8 am opening, but we're right next to American Idol Experience, no rope yet. We continue strolling down and we make the turn past Sounds Dangerous... and there it was! Star Tours 2 with a 5 minute wait! We go right inside, see the great queue (which has an awesome blue color luminating the entire room), and get our glasses and the doors to get onto the ride open up immediately. We take our seats and I tell my buddy to keep his glasses off until the ride begins to maybe be chosen to be included in the ride as the Rebel Spy. My anticipation for this ride has been huge as I've been following for weeks on Twitter @StarTours2Live. The ride begins and it was a fantastic ride! Turns out, my friend was shown on the right screen as the Rebel Spy. That was fun. We got off the ride at about 7:55 am and there was already a 20 minute wait. We were possibly thinking of riding it again, but figured we might as well go down to Sunset Blvd to ride the Rock "n" Roller Coaster.
We get right into the pre-ride video with Aerosmith and we board our super stretch limo. We take off 0-57 MPH in 2.8 seconds into a loop and had a great ride. Afterwards, we hopped right back on and immediately back into the video. I asked for the front row and we waited one vehicle to get into ours. Turned out, we're the only ones in our car. Love this ride. We walked over to the Tower of Terror next.
We get right into the hotel lobby and right into the pre-ride video. We go through the boiler room and I enter the elevator shaft immediately. My buddy was feeling very apprehensive about riding and decided to take the elevator down the chicken exit (ironic). I got into the front row and there was only 7 of us on the ride. This is the most thrilling ride in all of WDW.
We decided to head out of the Studios and go directly to Magic Kingdom. We got into my car at 8:50 am and stepped foot inside of the Magic Kingdom at 9:30 am. We walked over to Space Mountain to pick up FASTPASSes which were for an 11:15-12:15 return window. Turns out, we weren't able to use these as the ride had been shut down all of Saturday after about 8:30 am when a woman was found unconscious on the ride. I haven't heard any updates on her status, hope everything turned out ok.
We walked towards Splash Mountain, but saw Winnie the Pooh and wanted to show him the new interactive queue. We waited about 10 minutes, even though I was ready to walk out of the line after seeing the queue, but he just said let's ride it. Next, we walked past the rest of Fantasyland, thought about getting in line for Peter Pan's Flight, but a 15 minute wait seemed too long at the moment for me. We walked to Splash Mountain and got right on in about 5 minutes. We took the plunge down to the briar patch. When we got off, we got into line for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. We waited another 5 minutes and we boarded our train (asked for the last row). Really enjoy both of these rides.
Next, we walked to Aloha Isle and got some Dole Whip Floats. After eating them down, we get into line for Pirates of the Caribbean, I really wanted to see the new opening with Blackbeard in the beginning. We got right onto the ride and this is a classic ride. We walked over to the Haunted Mansion, took the scenic route over the direct route (new choice you can now make, with a cast member standing there at the direct route with a rope they can move). I really like the new interactive queue, and we rode the ride. We walked over to Space Mountain to attempt to see if it was open yet or planned on being opened within the next hour, but the CM told me that it'll be down for several hours. When I got home, found out that was for inspection.
So, we decided to head over to the Animal Kingdom. We stepped foot inside of the Animal Kingdom at 12:00 pm. We got FASTPASSes for Kilimanjaro Safaris for a 2:51-3:51 pm return window. Very interesting how they go by exact minutes and they seemed quite adament on that as when we returned for the ride, the CM was yelling out... "2:43! 2:44! ETC..."
First thing we had wanted to do was Kali River Rapids as it was about 97 degrees out there. Seemed like everybody thought the same thing as there was a 70 minute wait. We skipped it and went to Expedition Everest, Single Rider Line. 40 minute wait, compared to a 20 minute wait. Still, a very long wait for the Single Rider Line in all my experience with single rider line with EE. I got the last row and had a blast. We walked over to Dinosaur and waited 25 minutes before boarding our time rover vehicle. I really like this ride.
We walked past Kali River Rapids again to see the time as my Lines app hasn't been reported in the past hour and a half, a 90 minute wait this time. We decided to get lunch at Flametree Barbeque, both had awesome pork sandwiches. We walked through Pangani trails for about 10 minutes, and waited at 2:47 PM in front of the Kilimanjaro Safaris return window. We got in at 2:51 PM and waited about 10 minutes in line to get onto our truck. Had a good time on the Safari.
We then headed for the exit, thought about heading over to EPCOT, but the heat was too much. We were planning on leaving at 6 pm, but at 3:45 pm, felt too exhausted. We got into my car at 4:05 pm and headed home. Was a great day!
