May 2017 Tink half marathon crowds?

Planning on going May 7-12th, I see that the Tinker Bell half marathon is scheduled on May 11-14th. From the RunDisney site schedule it looks like the expo is on the 11th, and on the 12th is the 5k.

Would the week be busy or do runners usually get there in time for the expo? The plan is to hit DCA in the morning of the 12th since we tend to get later flights. Would really like to do DL on the 12th but the 5k is in the park (right?).

The 5k is over before the park opens, shouldn't have any impact except maybe higher crowds as racers get done, showered and come back to the park. I've only done the Avenger's weekend, but all the races usually start around 5-5:30AM. They should all be done and out of the parks by 7.

There are disruptions on Harbor Blvd during the 5K, here is what the OCTA is saying about the Labor Day 5K, which runs about the same pathway.

But since it is early, there is not much of a disruption, as compared to the main event on Sunday, which does create a lot of impact in the morning hours.

I did Tinkerbell this year, and I did not really notice that DL and DCA were more crowded Fri., Sat. and/or Sun. due to the races. We went into the parks all three days (Sunday after the half was over and we had eaten and showered, etc.) and it didn't feel very different from any other weekend in terms of crowds. You will likely find it more crowded and difficult to navigate Downtown Disney, however.

Runners have to go to the Expo to pick up their bibs. It's a race weekend, there will be crowds.

Of the race weekend, thursday and friday will be the lightest days. I've done 6 disneyland race weekends so far and I've never arrived early enough on Thursday to go to the parks. We do usually go to the parks Friday but have never thought crowds were heavy on that day. Saturday is when you would start to notice the crowds more as all runners will arrive by Saturday to pick up their bibs. Sunday is the worst in the afternoon and evening as far as crowds will go. But you're not there those days. I think you'll be fine. being there the Thursday and Friday of race weekend. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the helpful posts! Since we leave on Friday I am not super worried. Just wanted to make sure it would not be extra crowded during the week.
