May 2016 Pre-Trip Report! ***Completed***

Joining in.

You have a lovely family. That pic of you and James at his prom is really nice. You make an adorable couple.

Looks like you've had quite a few magical trips and this upcoming trip looks to be just as magical.

On our Epcot days, we always seem to make rope drop without trying. Its super weird, because normally I can sleep in past when I actually want to, but on anytime on vacation I like to get up super early. Being on a bus by 8 will definitely get you to rope drop. One way we always accomplished this was that I showered at night (I had to, there was no way I was showering in the morning and trying to deal with my hair wet) and he'd get up like 20 minutes before me to shower. I also like to plan what clothes I'm going to wear to what park before we leave, so I know ahead of time.
That is such a great idea!!!
Me too! Disney has a biotech internship where you work in that lab you pass and staff the Behind the Seeds tour. I'm thinking of applying since my major is Molecular/Biotech... Even though botany is hands down the absolute worst biology ever.
You should definitely apply! That would be so perfect!
If you do want to meet him, make sure to get in line 15 - 20 minutes before his next set! Or the line will be REALLY long.
I definitely will! I'm not big on character meet and greets, probably because I didn't grow up with it? But I think I'd loooove to meet Aladdin.

Thank you!!! :welcome: I just know it'll be soo magical :cloud9:

Found you!

I guess I will follow you even though your dislike for my favorite princess hurts my heart! Aurora (yes, they named her after the dawn, for she filled their lives with sunshine) is the best!

Anywhooooo... You will have to tell me how Via Napoli was after you eat there. It is on my list of possible places to eat in Epcot! Normally we just snack our way around the world showcase, but we will have the DDP this time around, so YAY for a new TS expereince!

Found you!
Hello and Welcome!!!:flower1: I'm so glad you could join!
I guess I will follow you even though your dislike for my favorite princess hurts my heart! Aurora (yes, they named her after the dawn, for she filled their lives with sunshine) is the best!
I'm shocked that you're the first person to speak out about my Aurora dislike!!! Okay nothing against her personally I suppose...maybe Disney should have given her a bigger role in her movie. Her prince and the fairies just outshine her role...well I do like her singing and dancing scene. Maybe if she was in it more... Ugh now I'm hurting my own head!! I guess I can't blame her for her lack of screen time! And I do like that quote :sunny:

I will definitely give you full details! I'm pretty sure I'm going to do a trip report and I will take LOADS of Via Napoli pictures!!! Well let's be honest I'll take tons of pictures of everything hahaha

Hello everyone! It's been awhile since I've updated but I'm here! I've been really busy lately but I've missed you all so much.
Today I'd like to continue with my trip itinerary. When I last left off, I had just finished up my first full Disney day at Epcot.
Next up: Tuesday, May 3rd.

NgCrGlt53y_a-bMU_N1k5qj6GjV3roWT18IWBMjx9hKOUn_WmxFVLjk9zp9UO-HGSmylQpTwQQjsq72PU33jFnLg4xzxPsLOe7h9p9f4UVEtQLtZF1i34CGoosU8W_fAAGXqrsaw

Today we go to Magic Kingdom! :lovestruc Magic Kingdom is always the toughest day to plan. I just love Magic Kingdom so much. But for me, it tends to get pretty stressful planning it. There’s just so many rides and unlike the other parks, I can’t plan where we will be every minute of the day...and maybe that’s a good thing. Honestly until planning my last trip, I didn’t make itineraries. I didn’t know what park I’d be in each day, and I didn’t make my fastpasses in advance. Infact, back in my August 2014, the night before my sister and I left her apartment in Jacksonville, Florida, we made fastpasses and one dinning reservation!! That’s it! The night before we left! Yikes. This scares me to even think about now. My last trip went SO smoothly with all my planning. The only day I can’t plan ride-to-ride is Magic Kingdom. Good news though...we get TWO Magic Kingdom days! This is the greatest news ever for me. On our second Magic Kingdom day we will be doing a full day- Welcome Show to Wishes! It'll be our last day so we gotta make it count, plus the day before is a rest day. As for our first time in Magic Kingdom, we plan on sleeping in till about 8 or 9. If I can make it that long
HbYpcrmGEDT44qWiu7H4trp5yEgi_4nku4pB6UWmkjasV-kVm9whtp89e8dDgwAovzHdNZo-OGT23thqaHkZriGgaekRZYwgV3lJaQ6Y2TzDNa26SLEK4GSBAl2IYIIEZWo-f33L
Since we have such a full first day planned (Epcot rope drop to closing), I think sleeping in will be really good for us. I don't want to wear James out so early in the trip. So here it is, our Magic Kingdom plans!

We get to sleep in today! After we get ready, we will head to breakfast at Landscape of Flavors. We both have our eyes on the chocolate chip pancakes:tongue:

I plan on being at the bus stop right after breakfast. This could be anywhere between 9:30 and 10:30, depending on when we roll out of bed. I'm in no rush (well I say that, I probably will be come this morning and instead of rolling out of bed I'll be jumping):Pinkbounc

Once we get to Magic Kingdom, we will take our time scrolling down Main Street. We will of course get Starbucks at Main Street Bakery! Now quick side note: The weather last May was simply beautiful. Hot, but not uncomfortably humid, sunny, bright blue skies. Every. Single. Day. Except our Magic Kingdom day. But it ever even rained while we were at the park. We woke up to rain before breakfast, but it cleared up. It got cloudy and grey in the afternoon again, but never rained. So our week was wonderful. But these following Magic Kingdom pictures are a bit grey. Also, I had this idea that I’d keep the camera away for the most part upon entering Magic Kingdom, thinking hey I’d have all day to get pictures. Which I didn’t really. So these pictures are sorely lacking. I apologize, this was the only day I wasn’t attached to my camera! Whoa so much for a quick side note...

So my ride plans are a little up in the air right now....
I’m debating booking fastpasses for Wishes. I love the reviews I’ve read about it. I love the idea of sitting down, having room, and really enjoying the moment with James. His first Wishes. :tink:But I also know this means only 3 fastpasses today. Which since we have an entire day of Magic Kingdom planned for our last day in Disney, I’m okay with it. I’m not 100% sure yet. But I’d say I’m 90% sure that I’m going to book it. So, knowing that I plan on booking a fastpass for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Splash Mountain. I adore Splash Mountain, and we will probably wait in stand-by atleast once for it on this day also. And on our last day we will have a fastpass for it again!! (Plus stand-by atleast once). Splash was my first Disney ride, ever. We waited in the hot summer sun for a VERY long time because I was most excited for it...even before I ever set foot in Disney it was my favorite!

As for 7DMT, I rode it for the first time this past May, Danielle, Travis and I waited in a 50 minute line for it right before park closing after Wishes. It was worth it, I absolutely loved it!!! Snow White is my favorite!

Other rides I hope we will make (and if we don't we will on Sunday!):

-Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor (Did this my first trip and really liked it)
-Stitch's Great Escape (Honestly not a fan but I do love Stitch & I do want James to experience this once):stitch:

SIDENOTE: I don't want James to skip experiences that I'm willing to skip because I don't like them. What if he likes it?! I learned the hard way that just because someone doesn't like something, doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to experience it yourself! I didn't get to ride Spaceship Earth until my last trip because I was told it wasn't worth it...Now I regret never riding it till this past May! I never got to experience The Studio Backlot Tour in Hollywood Studios and now it's closed. Just some examples :stitch2:

Yeah, it's pretty sweet!

-Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin

-Carousel of Progress (I've never done this!!)

Also, the Walt Disney World Railroad. Choo Choo!
Next topic, FOOD! :mickeybar

I’m thinking lunch at Pinocchio Village Haus. Back in August 2014, Danielle and I got a seat right by the window overlooking Small World. It was really cool.

I refused to get a Dole Whip at Magic Kingdom which breaks my heart!!!!! But last May I went to the counter to order pineapple and vanilla twist Dole Whips for everyone and BOOM! The guy should've just punched me in the face it would've hurt less....Pineapple only?! WHAT! So I plan on going to the Poly for my Dole Whips.

Some snacks will be in order also!

Really gives Beast's castle an eerie feel to it.

BE OUR GUEST!! I don't care about the negative reviews. I'm gonna love this place. :worship: I JUST KNOW IT.

Either today or Sunday I plan on finding a spot for Festival of Fantasy parade. I just don't know which time yet. Depends on our fastpasses of today!

I plan on spending time browsing the shops and taking everything in.

Rapunzel is amazingprincess:

Yay for MK day! I'm jealous you get 2 full days there! I say if you have 2 days go for it on the WISHES FP, unless there is something between the 2 days that you want more.

I know I'm so lucky!! One day just never seems to be enough. There's just SO much to do here!!! Thank you for the Wishes fastpass advice! I'm going to go with the fastpass :teeth:

Good news though...we get TWO Magic Kingdom days!
Two MK days is always the way to go, I think! It really lets you slow down and enjoy the park more and not worry about missing something on your first day!

As for 7DMT, I rode it for the first time this past May, Danielle, Travis and I waited in a 50 minute line for it right before park closing after Wishes. It was worth it, I absolutely loved it!!! Snow White is my favorite!
I'm making sure I get FP for two of our MK days this year. Such a great ride! :)

Note: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be closed for refurb..I'm so sad.
You may want to double check, I think there has been some debate if it's still happening? Apparently the refurb dates have been taken down by a lot of sites.

-Magic Carpets of Aladdin (Never done but I always want to but no one will go with me:rotfl:)

-Swiss Family Tree House (Never done so maybe?)
I love Magic Carpets! And we've never done the Swiss Family Tree House either, and I want to try it this year too.

-Enchanted Tales with Belle (I've never done this, and I know it's geared towards kids, but I DON'T CARE I LOVE BELLE!)
Last year we did it. And I even volunteered at the end for a part, it's really cute and fun. Don't be afraid to volunteer when they ask if anyone else wants a part! Of course they give the big parts to the kids, but I was the dog foot stool.

We get to sleep in today! After we get ready, we will head to breakfast at Landscape of Flavors. We both have our eyes on the chocolate chip pancakes:tongue:

And don't forget pictures of these pancakes! I want to hear all about them!

The weather last May was simply beautiful. Hot, but not uncomfortably humid, sunny, bright blue skies. Every. Single. Day. Except our Magic Kingdom day. But it ever even rained while we were at the park.

You are soooo lucky! The last time my sister and I were there in May it rained Every. Single. Day. for hours! We made the best of it but after awhile it did get you down a bit. You couldn't rest anywhere outside, you had to find something inside. With everyone else also trying to find a place to sit inside. :headache:

I’m debating booking fastpasses for Wishes. I love the reviews I’ve read about it.

I've heard some people say that it's a bit crowded. This is one that I'm debating about as well. Actually, I'm debating telling my sister to try and get it as a 4th or 5th FP if there are any left. It'll be too late for my sister when you go but I'm curious to hear about your take on it. At least you'll have a second day to make anything right!

-Enchanted Tiki Room (I've never done this, but I listen to the song from it all the time!)

I actually just did this the last time we were there and I LOVED it. I had also listened to the song all the time and I am so glad I finally went in. Be prepared to come home with a whole bunch of Tiki Room stuff! I'm hooked! I grabbed a couple of glasses and a plate!

I haven't done the Carpets either! And I also haven't done Dumbo. Crazy, right??? :sad2:

-Enchanted Tales with Belle (I've never done this, and I know it's geared towards kids, but I DON'T CARE I LOVE BELLE!)

I LOVE BELLE TOO!!!! And I haven't done this either. Shame on me! Shame on you too ;)

-Stitch's Great Escape (Honestly not a fan but I do love Stitch & I do want James to experience this once):stitch:

SIDENOTE: I don't want James to skip experiences that I'm willing to skip because I don't like them. What if he likes it?! I get what you're saying but Stitch's Great Escape......ewww......

BE OUR GUEST!! I don't care about the negative reviews. I'm gonna love this place. :worship: I JUST KNOW IT.

Though we haven't done dinner here, we really liked our lunch! We sat in the West Wing and it was great!! You will love it - it's worth it!

I'm also planning on 2 MK days. No sleeping in for me though, at least that's the plan.
Going for the Wishes FP as well for first day.
The one thing I am not including in my plans is Stitch's Great Escape. I still have traumatic memories from its predecessor and I'm not big on Stitch either. I think it's great that you're willing to let James experience it even though you didn't enjoy it and let him make his own mind.

You may want to double check, I think there has been some debate if it's still happening? Apparently the refurb dates have been taken down by a lot of sites.
Oh my goodness, this just made me so unbelievably happy! You're right- some sites have it, others don't. Hmmmmm....
Last year we did it. And I even volunteered at the end for a part, it's really cute and fun. Don't be afraid to volunteer when they ask if anyone else wants a part! Of course they give the big parts to the kids, but I was the dog foot stool.
That's so awesome!! I will definitely volunteer! This just looks so adorable. The dog foot stools pretty cool too :thumbsup2
And don't forget pictures of these pancakes! I want to hear all about them!
Plenty of pancake pics, coming up!
You are soooo lucky! The last time my sister and I were there in May it rained Every. Single. Day. for hours! We made the best of it but after awhile it did get you down a bit. Aww man that's such a bummer.
If I end up going with the fastpass for Wishes, I will give you a full report for your trip! I'm honestly back and forth on this. One day I'm so set on it, the next I'm thinking oh well either way we will be able to watch Wishes, and it takes away a ride fastpass. We shall see!
I actually just did this the last time we were there and I LOVED it. I had also listened to the song all the time and I am so glad I finally went in. Be prepared to come home with a whole bunch of Tiki Room stuff! I'm hooked! I grabbed a couple of glasses and a plate!
I have the song currently stuck in my head! The souvenirs that you bought are beautiful! I'm in love with the cups!
And I also haven't done Dumbo. Crazy, right??? :sad2:
Neither have I! I never went to Disney as a kid, and Dumbo is adorable but that movie is just so sad in my opinion. I live across the street from a little theme park called Edaville USA, and they have their own Dumbo, only it's called Jumbo (I think..) and it looks the same!! I grew up going on it.
I LOVE BELLE TOO!!!! And I haven't done this either. Shame on me! Shame on you too ;)
RIGHT!! No worries, that will all change this trip!
I get what you're saying but Stitch's Great Escape......ewww......
Hahahaha yeah...true....I've done Stitch twice and for some reason I remember the bars that come down and press on your shoulders REALLY hurting me on my first trip so when I went with my sister and we went on it, I used my hands to stop the bars. Out of ALL the rides/attractions that they close in Disney, how is Stitch still open???
The one thing I am not including in my plans is Stitch's Great Escape. I still have traumatic memories from its predecessor and I'm not big on Stitch either. I think it's great that you're willing to let James experience it even though you didn't enjoy it and let him make his own mind.
I heard that the Alien one was actually really scary!! Sorta wish I had gotten to ride that one instead!

Hey everyone! I'm back with our plans for Wednesday, May 4th.

This will be our third full day in Disney! It's also our first of two rest days. I know, I know...what are we doing resting?! Didn’t we only have 2 park days so far? Honestly before my last trip I’d never dream of having a rest day. The only reason I did last trip is because everyone made me include it. I was so against it, too. That was until I had the most relaxing day EVER and was beyond refreshed for a full day at Animal Kingdom the next morning.

This day we get to sleep in again (crazy, right?)

Today will be an awesome day to explore the resort a little bit, too!

We will start our restful day with a delicious breakfast at Landscape of Flavors.

Next we will catch a bus to Blizzard Beach and walk over to Mickey’s Winter Summerland Mini Golf! I did this mini golf course for the first time last year and it was just SO much fun. Definitely my favorite mini golf course (and I mini golf a lot.)

Bonus picture of Shades of Green from last May before I get into the mini golf pictures:

For anyone able to stay here (active duty military year long, any Veteran can stay in September & January, & retired Vets can stay year long), I highly recommend it. It costs what a value Disney hotel costs. Sometimes less. I think when my sister and I went back in August 2014 we payed no more than $80 a night and the breakfast buffet was included in our package! YEAH! It's a deluxe hotel for the price of a value. Indoor hallways, multiple restaurants, Starbucks coffee/ ice cream stand right in the main lobby, massive size rooms, beautiful pools, playground, not to mention the fact that it's surrounded by golf courses...this place is HUGE. Absolutely gorgeous. Without a doubt the nicest place I have ever stayed. It even has a spa! Plus the breakfast buffet I mentioned before...

Get ready for mini golf photo overload… for any families who haven’t tried this on their vacation and like mini golf, this is the place for you! They also have a winter course, but we did the summer one. It’s almost like Christmas in Florida versus Christmas in Massachusetts where I live. After the winter we had last year, the last thing I wanted was to try the actual winter side of the course! Although if James loves this place as much as I do, maybe we will return on our second rest day to play the winter course!

I actually crossed the bridge and got hit and made a clear statement to everyone about it while laughing. A moment later, my sis who always seems to be in her own little world, walks across, gets hit and goes, “What the…?!?” It was great. Can’t say I didn’t try to warn her!

For anyone curious, this place is a must-try for mini golf fans.

After we wrap up our game of mini golf (which I will crush James at…) we will either head back to the hotel, or take a quick detour....as in hop on a bus to the Polynesian and get a Dole Whip at Pineapple Lanai. Who knows? Detours happen.

After we arrive back at the hotel, it’s bathing suits and pool side!! I can’t wait to just relax by the pool, swim like a mermaid, and grab lunch at Landscape of Flavors food court. I have my eyes on the create your own pasta, oh and the mini pizzas which remind me so much of the Pizza Planet pizza. Whichever I’m more in the mood for.

After a nice afternoon and evening at the pool, we will head back to the room to shower and get ready for a late dinner at….

‘Ohana!!!!!!

I am BEYOND excited for this meal!!!!

Plus our reservations are at 9:15pm so I’m hoping we can catch Wishes before we wrap up dinner. If it happens it happens, if not, I’ll live!

Question: Is the best way to get to ‘Ohana from Art of Animation by taking a bus to Magic Kingdom then taking the monorail to the Polynesian? Since I haven't been to other hotels other than the ones I've stayed at, I wasn't sure.

After a delightful dinner, we will head back to our room for a good night’s sleep. Tomorrow is a full day (rope drop thru Fantasmic) at Hollywood Studios!

Mini golf looks like so much fun!

If you don't want to spend money, then yes. But I would consider using Uber or a taxi, we did this last year from AKL to the GF, CR, and Poly, and the most expensive was only about $20 using a taxi, and uber will be cheaper. It first takes out the stress of making sure you're on time.. because Disney tells you to allow 90 minutes to get to your ADR. Also, you have more time to get ready and such, which I think is nice.

Oh wow- I never even thought about taking a taxi or an uber! I had one bad uber experience (crazy Boston drivers....) but I'd definitely consider taking a taxi. I also thought of this for the way home- cause taking the monorail then a bus out of Magic Kingdom when everyone who was in Magic Kingdom will be leaving just doesn't sound like a whole lotta fun! Do you call up the taxi service yourself or does the front desk do this sort of thing? I think I read in a trip report awhile ago (now that I think of it) that the front desk did this. But I'm curious about your experience.

At AKL they had two or three taxis always at the resort that you could just walk up to, but they can also call one for you if there isn't one. So just go out to where the DME drops you off, and bell services should call one for you if there isn't one. Uber can take a little longer in our experience, because they didn't sit at the resorts, but at the TTC.

Taking one back is a good idea too! Most of the time we ended up taking a taxi to the reservation and an uber back (because by the time we were ready to leave, it would say the closest uber would be there in 15 minutes - but it was easy to wait that time when just going back to our resort).

Rest days sound like a good idea. Not doing any myself because of time limitations. I just know I'll be exhausted by the end of it. Good thing I'll be going back to my family in NY for another few days before heading back home.

Bonus picture of Shades of Green from last May before I get into the mini golf pictures:

STUNNING grounds!!!! Nice that you got to stay there.

Mini Golf pictures look so cute.

Looks like a wonderful relaxing day.

Totally understandable- when my sis and I went together we only had 4 full days- no time for a break!! Hey I'd rather be tired than not experience Disney 100%!!

We play mini golf when we go on vacation with the kids and every trip to WDW we swear we are going to go. And we don't.

Plus, I suck at it and it makes me mad. Doesn't fit in with our "relaxing" trip.

I honestly get the same way sometimes while playing mini golf. Just a little competitive, no biggie
Hi! Love your post! We are going May 1st - May 6th at POP, we will be just across the way! :)
Hello! :welcome: Yay for May 1st trips!!! I have a feeling the next three months are going to fly by. Here's to a short winter and a LOOOOONG first week of May!! I'm hoping to request a room actually facing POP! I can wave to you  POP is such a fun resort! It'll always hold a dear spot in my heart since I stayed there my first trip! My room was in the 50's section in the building with the Lady statue. I loved it!
