May 2014 Discout Watch

Do you guys think if I sign up for the Disney Visa (which I was going to do anyway, since I got a free $200 offer) today and get immediate approval I would be able to book right away? Or will I need to wait for my card to come in the mail?
Do you have to pay with the Disney Visa to get the discount? I was hoping to go the gift card route and save another 5%.

free day ticket sounds better than it is. Every little bit helps . For example, we get the 9th day free (so we pay for 8) so,it's a savings of $22 per person. Obviously with a larger family this can add up more quickly. I saved just about $200 for a party of 2, reg DDP , standard room at POP.- which nets to approximately a 6% total savings. I'm happy. Now I just buy Disney gift cards at Target for the remaining balance and I save an additional 5%. Plus since my AAA agent modified the reservation, I am now going to receive a $25 gift card as well. This will cover the few TS meals, apps etc that were beyond the dining plan.

Yea its only $10.50 pp for the 9th days ticket when added to the 8th.

SO you are probably going with 2 people and are seeing a $21 dollar difference total and didn't mean per person.

You have to put the $200 deposit on your Disney Visa

If you sign up right away and get like a Temp card with your number etc so that you can charge things to it via the internet/phone, you should have no problem. If it takes them a couple days to get it to you, then you will have to wait. Of course, its still adding another $200 savings, not bad :)

All Star Movies was only 5%, but I got 20% on All Star Sports. Didn't ask about All Star Music.

Arg! I asked about Movies but didn't even consider that the other AllStars might have a different discount. OK, gotta get back on the phone!

Got 20% off a pop and ticket package. So now I can go twice this year. May and sept.

I was told it's buy 4 get the 5th free or buy 6 get the 7th free. But I didn't opt for that since the money savings was so little.

Instead I got 30% off Coronado!

Sent from my iPad using the DISBoards app.

I was told Coronado was only 5% but did get 25% off of Riverside and the extra day's ticket.

I posted the details this morning on my blog.

The next round of room discounts is now available to Disney Visa holders, and will open to the public on January 6th.

The discount covers the following dates:
February 24 - March 5
March 14 - April 12
April 20 - June 15

There are various discounts depending on resort and room type, here are some examples:

Value Resorts - 20%
All Star Movies - 5%
Art of Animation suites 15%

Moderate Resorts 25%.
French Quarter - 5%

30% Deluxe Resorts
Grand Floridian, Contemporary, and Club Level at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge - 20%.

As an interesting twist, if you also purchase a four-day ticket, you'll get an extra day for free!!!

Thanks, again, for sharing the details!

We're in a 2bed villa at BLT, so I hope the discount applies to more than just studios there. We could swing a 1bed + studio if discounts applied, but 2bed would be nicer!

I just got off the phone with a REALLY helpful rep! We were originally booked in a 2bdrm at BLT--this was NOT available for the discount. Studios were, but that wouldn't work for us. I switched to 2 rooms at the CR, TPV and saved $1000. Could have saved a little more with LV, but thought it might be nice since this is DS's graduation trip.
I've been watching this thread like a hawk! Thank you so much for posting this so I could get things changed today when I'm off!!!

It should have been just 25% for Coronado. I'm not sure what happened when I called in. Pixie dust? lol who knows! But I was told that the free day ticket and % off offers weren't able to be combined, where others are reporting as getting it. Who knows what's going on...

Ok so I just called and booked with Visa discount for early May. PO riverside garden view for 25% off plus the extra park ticket. There weren't any standard rms left. The total cost for our family of 4:

7 nights with 6 day basic tickets $2467.04

I tried to get PO French Quarter, but only was given 5% off. The CM also looked up cheapest deluxe with this code and my total was a little over $3000 at Wildness Lodge with woods view. I'd rather spend my savings on character meals etc...
Good luck everyone!

I've never called before to ask, but do you just call the general Disney line to see if there is a pin attached to your name?

Ugh. Thanks for sharing! I better have a back-up plan in place for Monday since we are also in a 2bed at BLT. Saving $1000k is killer.

There is no temp card that you can get with your card #. I tried because mine is in the mail and Chase said they will not give you your card # over the phone. You must receive and activate the card in the mail. I tried this morning.

We are going for Halloween this year and I already have my room booked through DVC. My question is if I have a Disney Visa Card can I get the discounts on tickets ?

The dates for this promo stop on June 15. You'd have to wait for another promo to come out that covers your dates.

We booked our POP vacation!!!!! We saved a little over 200 bucks. Doesn't seem too high but every single bit counts!!! So excited

But likely the answer is no in either event. Unless Disney offers discounted tickets or discounted tickets to DVC members, chances are, no luck.

We are booked in the Spring with DVC as well, knowing we wont get any discounts to add on top of this, but we are happy anyway knowing we saved like 60% off rack rate at those resorts ...

Hi, thanks for sharing this info! I called my TA (AAA) and she said I would have to add days to my vacation to get the offer. We are staying at POP 4/22-4/25 and we booked through AAA adding 4 2-day tickets. She said to get the promotion, I would have to add days. Could I cancel getting the tickets through them (getting them through UT) and just book room only and get the discount? Again, my TA didn't seem to want to help out, so before I push her again, I want to make sure! THANKS!!!
