May 2014 Discout Watch

We already have tickets but thinking of adding 1 more to get the dining plan, is it worth it? I tried the disney dining plan calculator seems like it would cost less than 800 to eat, which I think is cheap I know how expensive meals are disney. Husband says to get plan still

If you want a concrete answer I would look at the menus and build out a spreadsheet to see the costs. I ran the numbers for us, and even though we are spending ALOT on food, it is still cheaper for us to go out of pocket than get the dining plan.

Here is a link to the spreadsheets I used if you are interested.

WooHoo! My sister & brother-on-law just gave the OK for my niece to miss school to go to Disney with me in May. So glad that I don't have to go at the end of June :cool1:

We cooked a turkey today (not for any special occasion; it was a good price and we have plenty of leftovers for the week :confused3). We let the kids pull the wishbone and I told them "Wish for FREE DINING IN MAY!!" :joker:

Hoping we hear discounts soon! That way we'll at least know!!

My friend and I are looking into planning a May trip as a joint birthday present - her 30th, my 29th (on the 25th and the 20th of May, respectively). We want to wrap it around a weekend, but otherwise are fairly flexible on dates. I know we're currently missing our 180 day window, but otherwise, any thoughts on good dates for us to choose? I'm also going to call sometime soon to see if I have a pin on file. Since going to Disney in 2009, I constantly get them in the mail, but DH likes to toss them (he is a great guy, but not into Disney like me). Otherwise, looking to follow along and see everyone's wonderful plans!

Just keep in mind that Star Wars weekend is around the end of May usually. We are going in May and hoping to avoid it.

We are both Star Wars fans, but I don't think either of us are really crowd fans...so we might just avoid it anyway. Thanks!!

You are welcome! We've been twice and I said that we'll never do it again. There were people lined up for hours and hours. One lady said that her husband got in line at 4:00 a.m.:faint:

Hello May Trippers! We haven't booked yet (was hoping to wait for a promo!). We have been 3 times over the Memorial Day weekend time frame. Our DS13 is getting out of school really early this year - May 14th!! Will we see a big difference in crowds if we leave and go that weekend (May 17th) instead of May 24th (Memorial Day weekend)? We have never minded the crowds and always enjoyed Star Wars Weekends (even though we never waited for autographs, ect - we just loved the atmosphere). Any thoughts??? :confused3

Also - on another thread someone was saying maybe a 24 hour bash to celebrate the opening of Malificent (probably spelled wrong!! LOL)....anyone heard anything about this? We would really love this!!:cool1:

Thanks! :goodvibes

Just booked our May trip at the Beach Club today!!! I am one of the lucky ones to have a 35% off code but I am always on the lookout for a better deal (would probably switch to POR or WL if FD happened to come out!).

I hadn't even thought of that. We will be arriving either the Thursday or Friday of that weekend....not sure if I should be excited or scared!!

So what are you guys planning?

I am soo confused on what to do.:confused3:confused3

We normally do rope drop (9am) no EMH for us, FP and ride. we then break at 2-3pm, then head back to parks (different one) between 4-5 and see what we can get accomplished.

With FP+ looming...I am not sure what is our best approach. Do RD and ride what we can and plan FP+ for afternoon? Problem with that is our afternoon park was never planned. Now I have to plan my 2nd park?:confused3

I'd love to know what your strategies are with FP+:flower3:
