May 2012 Car Rentals

May 19-June 2. Used Budget with Wendee code and the 30 off coupon. $338 all in for a compact. Hmm. if anyone can get me better....

On expedia.ca you can get a compact with Budget for $266 inc taxes. Even a US resident can book this prepaid rate and if you cancel you will get a refund within 24hrs.

I placed a bid on Priceline for a minivan, we need it 9 days and 3 hours. We are picking up in Orlando and dropping off at Tampa. I got it for $35.00 a day, plus tax it came to $494.90. Is this the best deal you think I could get ? I used Budget last fall and it was pleasant, how's Alamo ? I've never used them. Do they have a program similar to Fastbreak ?

Last question, any chance on finding a coupon and getting them to upgrade us at the counter to a SUV ( like Budget did last year !) ? Thanks ! :flower3:

I'm not sure if this company is located offsite. After I read some reviews I did not make a reservation.

it's my understanding that since Hertz took over they've cleaned up most of the past issues.

here's a site with recent positive reviews

http://orlando.citysearch.com/profile/33165417/orlando_fl/advantage_rent_a_car.html

i do notice on the site they list the address as:

2704 jetport drive

The website for advantage though states:

1 Airport Blvd.
Orlando, FL, US 32822
which is standard for onsite, assume they were offsite but now in terminal. IMO more tempting now:thumbsup2 but their current rates went up too as most do near weekend.

I just noticed that the rates at Dollar have dropped using the Corp. code OI1054. I just reserved a 'standard' size car for a week in May for $155 taxes included. As an fyi for people looking for a mini-van the rate is $286 for a week before taxes.

.....Jut got a midsize Costco rate of $150 for my May trip! Nearly all car classes and a small SUV are the same rate! I checked this morning, and they had not dropped - so this is recent. I'm debating switching to an SUV, but not sure what Alamo has on that isle for selection - anyone know?

Also - I saved a little by returning the car 1 day early to the DCC, and we'll take the ME to MCO on departure day.

....praying they go lower yet...this is still more than I've ever paid for a week's rental period...but happy for the rate!

Sorry for the confusion. I was referring to Sixt not Advantage.

Are you picking up at MCO and dropping off at DCC?

Well...saved $1 on our rental however I went up two car classes with Alamo, so I'm happy. I decided we might be a little cramped for the drive from and to the airport in an Economy...not that a Midsize is huge in comparison, but it's a little roomier. Lots of time to May 16, so I'll keep trying to get our price down.

Just FYI for anyone who is checking autoslash.com. I checked into it and they have good rates but they place a hold on your credit card for up to 3 times the amount of the rental rate. Make sure you read the fine print for charges.

How did you price it out? And what are the codes?

I use/check my fares on the CostcoTravel site multiple times a day - they check all of their providers at one time. Got the $150 1-week deal - picking up at MCO and returning to DCC on their site. (I am a Costco member...and I have been asked to show my Costco ID on some occasions.) Prices to return the car were the same at either MCO or the DCC - picking up at DCC was higher no matter where it was returned.

The 7-day rate was the lowest with a Sat night included - so I opted to return the car prior to our departure day at the DCC - saved me a $30+ per day by doing that and only renting for 7 days. Don't need it by the end of our stay.... hope this helps...

I have a reservation with them and they never even asked for a credit card number. :confused3

Last night I was able to book with Alamo, mid-size for $151, one week w/Sat night keep (rate+ taxes & fees). Used the Visa discount code and coupon for an early May stay.:goodvibes Checked this morning and it is still available.

Just rebooked exact same rental timing and class...and saved even more!!! The rental went down from $185.41 to $157.63!!! :cool1:

Me, too! Rebooked this morning with Alamo, used my Insider's ID and Travelocity coupon, and got the mid-size/one week @ $133.:goodvibes

Do you know if I can use an insders id, plus the visa code, plus a coupon? Is there a separate spot for the insiders id...if I can do this then I am joining.

Thanks!

It is free to join. You get a free add'l driver. Plus you can check in online and go directly to your car. I thin you can only use one code (the insider or visa). I got the cheapest rate using my Insider code over any other and the BJ's coupon. I have a full size for 10 days for $141.

Yes, there is a separate section where your Insider ID info is entered. You can enter your Insider ID, corporate ID and a coupon code.

Was there a coupon code for Travelocity? If so, can you post it?

Thanks!
