May 2012 Car Rentals

Darn. That coupon for AA must require a Saturday night stay because it won't work for me. Does anyone have any other Alamo coupon codes that I could try that do not require a Saturday night stay and rental of a minivan?

I need to rent a minivan for 5/4 thru 5/7 (weekend) out of Buffalo NY. I used my Alamo insiders ID along with the Visa code. But the best I can come up with is $201.00 before taxes and Concession fees.. I just checked again as people said their rates went down this morning. No change.

Any suggestions. Also I do not belong to Costco as there is no warehouse near me. :( Must use Alamo.

Rates are not down for me either..... Actually, last night before bed I checked our minivan dates and they were $1500 :rotfl2: and they are back down to $809 this morning so they did come down.:lmao: Definately not beating my $242.

Here are the codes I am aware of for Alamo (I don't have a Costco):
7015504.....Visa
7013904.....Rental Car Momma
Insiders ID if you sign up can also be used for the same discount as Visa

Coupons
AD2359FDF...Trevelocity/American Airlines Code
AD8ZS21SDP....BJs

Good luck everyone!

Happy Easter! HE is risen!!!!:lovestruc

From what I understand even if you put in the Visa and insiders it is only going to use one. Try adding the Travelocity Coupon that I listed above.

No changes for me with Alamo. Though National is just a couple of dollars lower this morning. I'm late April to mid-May and switching cars mid-way, so am flexible with my dates.

My dates are April 19 - May 12

My plan is:
April 19-May 1 (then switch to something smaller)
May 1-12

I would love to get a rental for the whole time, but so far that is not working.

I've gotten some excellent rates so far, but still hoping for 1 entire rental instead of switching. I need a minivan for the first part and don't need it for the second part. I'm hoping for some new last minute deals this week.

Tried the Travelocity AA code. Not valid "Mininum rental length conflict." ??

I'll be renting from National on May 5th for one night (I'm an Emerald Club member). I'll be renting a Luxury or Convertible for approx $70.00 including insurance and taxes.

Has anyone had any experience with picking up from MCO and dropping off at the location at Lake Buena Vista Palace Hotel? Im assuming that if you drop off after hours they will charge you until the time that they open in the morning?

I have not been able to get a "great" rate for my trip April 28-May 5 yet. Been trying for about a month, on and off.

Today the Costco rates for Enterprise dropped, and came in the lowest for an intermediate, at $175 total with fees (I am a Costco member). Alamo in all codes that I am aware of, using all coupons is $219 at best (using Costco code), Visa and amex are a little higher, $229-238, it varies of course. National about $244, using that kooky KLM code I got $244. (now I can't even cancel that one online, must call to do so, how annoying).

Any suggestions? I will keep trying, it may drop in the next 2 weeks.

We are going those same dates, and I too can not find any great deals. Cheapest is $170 with Alamo for full size and $204 for KLM for mid size. BUT, we really need a full size SUV for the luggage and the scooter we MIGHT need to rent for my mom.

For an SUV, did you try the Avis code S767700? I got it in an email awhile back, and it is also listed on Mousesavers. I even paired it with the costco coupon MUGA049.

I often need an SUV for my handicapped son's large Convaid chair. So, I feel your pain! I PREFER to get an SUV, I like driving the small ones on vacation. I am torn, I have the Enterprise reservation. Might try and book something on National's Emerald Aisle though, and hope to find something interesting there. This trip, I do not need the SUV, when I have my son, I absolutely need it.

Rates were much lower several weeks ago, but have been holding steady lately. I also had a reservation using the KLM code, but wasn't comfortable with it and also found out you can't just "cancel" it online. I went to the "contact us" link on national and clicked cancel and sent them an email asking them to cancel the reservation for me and they did the next day, so you can take that route. I'm hoping we start seeing some drops this week. We arrived on April 19th for 3+ weeks. Right now I have a minivan for the first 12 days and then switch to a full size the last 12 days. I have to have a minivan at the beginning, but after we take the family back to the airport, we can switch cars because having a minivan for the entire time was too costly. I've been watching National the last few days and their rates have dropped each day for the last 3 days, but only about $10 each time. I always look forward to Tuesdays when they offer their last minute fares. The KLM code sort of bothers me, because I found it was a hassle to cancel it, and I hope others do cancel theirs if they are not going to use it and not make it looks like they have lots of bookings and end up with no shows. THis will affect whether National starts having some lower prices over the next few weeks. Lower bookings = lower prices! I find I check at least twice a day (sometimes more).

I have several reservations right now, a few cars, a few SUV's, Emerald Isle.... you name it, I've got it! As a matter of fact, the AVIS ressie was the first one I made, thanks to you! :thumbsup2

Just retried again booking a minivan for a long weekend Friday May 4th thru Monday May 7th. It dropped from my rate of $200.00 before taxes after coupons to $156.00.;. Yeah Yeah Yeah:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Much much better, just cancelled my original. guess I will just keep scouting every night and morning trying to improve on that. I feel so much better with that rate compared to the first one. :yay:

That's good news for early May people!
My dates haven't gone down, May14-26 for a minivan...I'm sitting at $242 which isn't bad for 12 days, but am hoping for it to go lower! Checking several times per day..:goodvibes

You guys are getting some awesome rates. I thought $302 total for a minivan through budget for 7 days (4/30-5/7) was pretty good (and I liked having an added driver for free), but I am a little jealous of some of the rates you guys seem to be getting! I'll take your best tips/codes etc!

By the way, I was just on hotwire and about had a heart attack when it said a minivan was $12/day!!! I clicked on it and it said it was through Avis and was fully refundable (Hotwire never tells the company name or has refundable reservations so that was weird). By the time I clicked "Buy" the price changed to $90 per day. Bizarre! Wonder what that was all about!?

I was just able to get a premium for $160.90 total for 5/18-5/23 from Dollar at MCO with the KISS2 promo code. The premium was cheaper than any level below it! So we are getting closer!

Just an FYI- We got the same deal a couple years ago. The good...great price and the trunk was so big I didn't need to collapse the stroller to get it in the trunk. The bad...the all leather seating would heat up like molten lava and would take for ever to cool off.

checked for 5/10-20 midsize this am, rates are WAY up compared to last week on dollar and avis...alomst double what I paid.

Holy cow! I have an Alamo rental for the same dates as you. My current rental is $141 for a full or $177 for a Premium (still trying to convince DH to save the $35) and checked rates this am and that same full size is now $356! :scared1:

I was hoping to see some new decent last minute rates, but not seeing them unless they start dropping later this week. We leave in 9 days and am really hoping to switch to National, always my first choice! I've got some decent rates for Alamo, so it's all good. Just wanted to keep my Executive status up. I really hate to lose it since we've had it for many years and are spoiled. I'll be watching for any last minute drops.
