May 2011 Code Watch

We're booked for May 21-29, so I've been checking daily for PIN codes to my email address. I've never once gotten one.

So, on a whim today I check DH's email. Imagine my surprise when I see he received a PIN code a few days ago!! When I mentioned it to him, he says, "Oh, yeah, I've gotten several of those emails over the past few years". . And here me totally clueless. I called Disney, and got the PIN added to our existing reservation, saving us over $400.

I received a 25% off code in the mail today. I decided to change my previous reservation which had free dining. (I know! I know!) Originally we were checking in on the 27th and leaving on June 4th. I just decided that between Memorial Day weekend and Gay Days it was just going to be too crowded. There was about a $200.00 difference, but I feel MUCH better about when we are going! Perhaps something even better will turn up later, but at least I can be ready to make my ADR's. Oh yeah.. We are checking in on the 18th and departing on the 26th! Staying in the Family SUites at ASM. I was REALLY surprised my code worked for those, as I have heard on here that a lot of times they do not. I was SO close to booking the cabins at FOrt WIlderness... but it was going to be 400 more dollars. I hope I made the right decision.

I've been to both ASMu family suite and FW Cabins and I would choose the family suite. You get much better transportation, a queen bed in the bedroom, 2 bathrooms, and quick/easy access to a food court.

I was SO excited when I received a PIN code this morning in my e-mail! It was good for 40% off Villas (30% off Beach Club) for May 1-June 5 (plus some earlier dates that I don't remember). We have a reservation booked for May 6-13 at the Beach Club Villas, so I wanted to apply the discount to our existing reservation. Only...it turns out that NO 2-bedroom Villas are available pretty much any dates in May, except for Animal Kingdom (which we were not interested in due to the location being so far from most of the things we care about). I must have tried about 50 different combinations of dates, different Villas, etc.

And yeah, we kind of have to go with the 2-bedroom Villa, because there are 6 of us total (4 adults, 2 kids). We can't fit into a 1-bedroom or studio.

I'm so bummed! I guess we'll just keep our existing ressie, but plan on no discounts whatsoever

How about a 1 br & a studio. With 40% off that would be a lot less than rack rate on a 2 br.

Unfortunatley, that wasn't an option either - they either had one 1-bedroom suite or one studio, but not both. I guess this PIN has been out for a while so all the good rooms are booked already.

Would love a 40% off villas code. I would switch in a heartbeat from beloved Poly to a 1 bedroom at BLT. It sounds like the studios there might be too small for 2 adults and a toddler...

I had assumed that you wouldn't get a pin that includes dates for which you already have a reservation, but it sounds like people actually have gotten such pins. Maybe we will be lucky, too. Otherwise, our fingers are crossed that room only discounts will be released soon-ish.

I got an email that said Save 30% on Customized Watches. I was so happy until I saw it said "customized watches".

No PIN codes for us. Fingers crossed that we'll get one. DW has one account and I have two Disney accounts each has offers saved. Hopefully we'll get one...if not I'm confident that AP rates will come out at some point.

OMG!!!!!!!!
I've been so busy working the last 4 days that I hadn't been able to check my emails.....
Til now..... WAHOOOOO.....
I got another email with Pin code.... and this one we CAN USE!
Its for resort savings..... 30% off at moderates!!!

I will be calling first thing in the morning to give them my Pin!!

I'm so excited!!! it should save us about $500!!!!!

FYI--I always get my PIN codes vial email, but I just got one via snail mail this time! This one includes every day in May and it's a 40% off--exactly what I've been waiting for! Time to book!!

For those interested, it was a large tri-fold mailer, light blue with a picture of a little girl and Cinderella hugging on the outside.

We don't have anything booked still, but we're exploring options - one which includes going with my in-laws in May, and not October as we have planned. Tricky thing with them is they're doing an RCI exchange and we'll need a 2 bedroom (we did 1 bedroom last time, and sleeping on a couch for a week in the kitchen with my husband and sharing a bathroom was kinda weird...)

Also, I think we're going to get APs since we'll be back in October, so then the issue of an AP rate comes into play - oh and we might end up renting points as another option. If I wrote down all our "what if we did this" scenarios, it would take up my entire work day... Trying not to get overwhelmed and instead am planning meals and which parks which days. Totally backwards, but sooo much more fun!

Come on pin!!! I need you!

EDIT: DH just called and told me that my MIL was able to book a room for the 2 of us, May 7-14. We only have to pay $400 for the week!

Now I just need to figure out the 5th and 6th!

I got my pin code mailer yesterday.. I had already booked at CSR and my mailer was for 30% off. You mean to tell me that there are mailers out there that have 40% Mods too?

Arf. A simple PIN won't do it for us.
I have to book multiple reservations for a group of 15 people and badly need a *real* general public discount... still hoping every day that they will release one!

Our dates are May 8 - 15th.
