We are planning for the last week in May. I have never been during that time of the year - how is it?

We're going May 3rd to the 12th or 13th. We're hoping for the BCV's again this year but won't be able to book until October!! Love our DVC but hate the wait.
Happy planning!!!

I tried booking a package online but it still kicks me back to 2007. I tried typing 2008 but once again, it kicked me back to 2007. Does anyone have any news on when we can book online for May 2008?

Thanks!

We'll be there May 3rd to the 13th!! Our longest trip yet! Staying at Shades of Green.

We just decided today to push back next year's DCL cruise to 2009, and go to WDW instead!!

I'm so excited, and have already started the planning. I'm going out tonight to buy the Unofficial Guide - I gave mine away thinking that I wouldn't need it!:rotfl:

For our last trip my mother bought Frommer's guide to WDW. I have never read it - is that the unofficial book that you were referring to? If so, does it really help?

Oh, I was able to book a trip, but when I went back to modify the dates, it wouldn't let me go forward. It stated that I should contact a WDW representative.

Hi there!

The Frommer's book is one of several books pertaining to WDW planning but in my opinion "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World" is the best planning book that you can buy. Here is the link to the Amazon.com page:

http://www.amazon.com/Unofficial-Guide-Disney-World-Guides/dp/047179032X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-7193402-0257220?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1186522668&sr=8-1

This book has all sorts of tips and tricks on how to save time and money while at WDW. I have the 2006 edition and will definitely be buying the 2008 edition when it comes out (fall sometime I think). You can also check out touring_plans[DOT]com (remove the underscore and turn the [DOT] into an actual "."). This is the website for the book; it is chalk full of awesome information.

FYI: I couldn't type in the actual email address because that website is in direct competition with TourGuideMIKE (another VERY useful planning website) who sponsors the DIS boards. I subscribe to both services; both are great!

Feel free to ask more questions about May planning as I've been the past two May's and, IMHO, have a pretty good feel for Disney planning.

Thanks for the information! We are really hoping for late May/early June. After looking at the calendar, I was thinking that we could go May 29 - June 3/4. Have you been during these times? How is the crowd, heat, rain? The last time that we went was in Feb. 2004 and the crowds were not bad at all! Our full day was Valentine's Day and we had such a wonderful time! It did rain but we came prepared with our ponchos!

We're booked at the Polynesian LVC for May 18th - 23rd, 2008!!!!! :woohoo: :yay: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Late April/Early May is noticeably better than late May/early June mainly because you won't have the Easter crowds, spring break is pretty much done with, and the kiddies are still in school. On the other hand, late May/early June allows you to see Star Wars Weekends which I would LOVE to see!!! After looking at the Unofficial Guides crowd calendar you will definitely be dealing with more people at the end of May as opposed to the middle of February. Although there is a saving grace if you do go at the end of May! His name is TourGuideMiKE and he tells you which days to go to which park. He rates his days using a green, yellow, red system and it really works! We coupled MiKE's green, yellow, red suggestions with the Unofficial Guides touring plans on our past trip and we didn't have to wait more than 15 or 20 minutes for any ride!

IMO, the main difference between early May and late May is that if you're trying to beat the crowds you need to have a stricter schedule for late May. Early May your schedule can be a bit more flexible. My biggest advice is to always question why people are doing what they're doing while in the parks.

DO NOT FOLLOW THE HERD!!! Pirates of the Carribean is a perfect example because you can either go right or left at the entrance. If you see a herd of people going one way, think about your options, evaluate the situation and if it seems feasible, go the other way. I've heard theories about only using the left line and sometimes this works but other times it doesn't. It all really comes down to thinking on your own and evaluating the situation at hand.

Another great way to beat the crowds is to get to the park 1/2 an hour (or earlier!) before they open and eat lunch around 11. You can also get into MK super early if you have a breakfast reservation for the Crystal Palace or Cinderella's Royal Table before the park opens. Acutally...you can likely get in even if you don't have a reservation! We had a ressie at CP but they didn't even look for our name on a list at the front gates.

Hope this helps! Sorry for the length!

Yay for May '08!!! :goodvibes

I'll be there May 11th-19th staying at the CR on the deluxe dining plan, and celebrating my 22nd birthday!!
