Marshay you are so talented. I wish I were artistic. I am too impatient, I want it to be finished yesterday..........

. I can cross stitch and crochet but that is about as talented as I get. My oldest son is a very good artist and I don't know where it came from.........lol. OK now, tell me exactly what I need to do to make my LGMH's, I really want to meet up with more Disers this trip.
Thanks
Thanks for the kind words! I truly never thought of myself as creative or artistic or even crafty...I was always into academics and sports...with a little piano thrown in there too!
I swear the DIS Creative Community is a contagious disease! Once you start looking at what others are doing, you catch the bug and want to do them, too!
Now, back to your question about LGMH:
Go to Home Depot paint section and pick up the Mickey-shaped paint samples. The DIS "color" is the one that is lime green entitled "Alien Green".
Now you can pick any of the colors -- it doesn't have to be the lime green one. A DIS friend of mine loves Tigger so she chose the orange one as her LGMH, but I guess it would be OMH!
Now at a minimum you can just write your DIS screen name on it and be done. You might want to laminate it to protect it from the rain.
Or you can add all sorts of things:
- "googly" eyes
- a smile
- the dates of your trip
- the name of any threads you like to hang out on
- the name of a thread (i.e., your Trip Report) you made
- any DVCs you own
- your real name
- a bow
- cover it in felt
- add glitter
- add hair or fur
The possibilities are endless.
Some people soak the paint sample in water for a minute and then peel the paint chip from the back of the card and laminate that.
I just used the entire card since I didn't want to deal with soaking it.
If you add anything 3D, it will be harder to laminate. I decided not to laminate mine since the googly eyes prevented the laminate paper from staying flat.
Now you can also make larger LGMH to hang on your purse, fanny pack, stroller, etc. Just get construction paper, draw a Mickey head and decorate. I highly suggest laminating any that you will wear on your body or bags since they will get torn up more.
OK, so now you are in WDW and as you go about your day, look for other people with LGMH...if you see them, go over and say "Hello! I noticed you have a LGMH and wondered if you are a part of the DIS." If so, hand them your LGMH and maybe they will give you one in return. If not, tell them about the DIS and encourage them to join.
On my September trip, I only ran into one other DISser but found lots of other Disney loving folks who never heard of the DIS. Immediately a pleasant conversation ensued!
OK, now go out and make your LGMHs and don't forget to show us a photo!
