tentatively planning a solo trip for May 2 - 8, 2018.
I don't think I've ever been during the first week of May.
Pros and cons, anyone?

We were there during the first week of May this year. It's HOT, but not as hot as the end of May.

I went the first week in May this year as well. Both the heat and crowds were managable. I'd definitely go that week again.

Early May is a very nice to be there. It gets hot but it's not humid then. The crowds are very manageable. It's our favorite time to go to the water parks.

One of my go-to times as a solo.
-Hot but decent weather
-Relatively lower crowds-it's the sweet spot between spring break and summer
-Lots of school groups, especially at Epcot, occasionally a problem at the resorts

I'd be at Jambo house - hopefully there won't be school groups staying there.

We went first week of May in 2016. The weather was great, warm and sunny but not ungodly hot. The crowds weren't bad either imo. I would definitely go that time of the year again.

We always go the first week of May. The weather is beautiful.. hot but not humid. We only had one rainy day in 2016 and I don't think we had any rain this year or in 2015.

The only thing we have noticed is an increase in cheerleading/dance groups (cheerleading worlds and the Summit is usually held around the first week of May). This usually only affects the crowds at the Value resorts, although we did notice large groups of them in line at ToT and RNRC at Hollywood Studios this year.

My fiancé and I are having our Disney wedding on April 28th of next year and honeymooning at Disney until May 5th :)

The end of April through he first couple weeks of May is my favorite time to go!

Crowds are reasonable. I tend to notice a higher percentage of young kids and strollers than I do at other times of year. I also think character lines are generally longer (probably because of more young kids). But, of course, as on any observational-type thing, YMMV.

Sounds like a plan! My thinking is that I'll take advantage of the discounted dvc platinum plus pass and go solo in May and then with DD during the following presidents week or Easter ... that way my pass will cover both trips. I can't take summer or holidays a lot the way I used to because of my current job ...
