May 2, 2009~~~Magical MAYniacs!~~~ 7 day Western....Updated, April 3,2009!!

Maybe this is a calm before the storm kind of thing - circumstances happening before our grand and wonderful upcoming vacation. Ok, I'm a little superstitious in that when something bad happens I like to think that means something good is going to come along and even things out.

First, I got a call yesterday morning that my 82 y.o. mom was taken to the emergency room due to fluid in her lungs and around her heart. She is still the hospital but her condition has been stabilized. Later that day, as a stroke of luck, I dug out the passports and was explaining what they were all about to my DS9. Upon closer examination, I noticed that his passport had expired last October. :scared1: Then I checked our DD's and it had expired as well. If there is any good news, I called DCL and they will accept a valid birth certificate. However, it could get messy if there was an emergency and we had to fly home. And lastly, the fake pin issue has left a bad taste in my mouth.

Sooooo.. Just 32 days to go... :yay:

Wow, you really have had a couple of days! Good wishes coming your way. Just think, once you are on that boat, you can really enjoy your vacation! So glad you realized that your passports need to be done rather than finding out on the boat.

Here is to everything going to making a better day for you!pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Launch Status - This is our best bet for a launch close to May 2. If you are in Orlando, it is really not worth driving over. The Delta rockets go up and they're gone..... You don't have to worry about the effect of G-forces since there are no humans on-board.

April 28 Delta 4 • GOES O
Launch window: 6:24-7:24 p.m. EDT
Launch site: Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida

The United Launch Alliance Delta 4 rocket will launch the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite O, or GOES O, for NASA and NOAA. The weather satellite will orbit 22,300 miles above the planet to monitor conditions across the U.S. The rocket will fly in the Medium+ (4,2) configuration with two solid rocket boosters.

CHECK YOUR RESSIES!!!! My Rooms were assigned tonight!!!! WOOHOO!!!!! We were upgraded from Cat 12 to Cat 9 Oceanview joining rooms :-) YIPEE!!!! :yay::yay::yay:

This will be awesome if it stays on schedule, thanks for letting us know!!! Are these types of launches visible from a distance? I love watching the actual shuttle go up, its just a speck here in Jax but its always an inspiring site.

Just have to share these pics....our first spring flowers are in bloom!!!:banana::banana:

Hey Laura, have I mentioned the snow to you lately? :rotfl:

I also saw a family of groundhogs yesterday afternoon while the sun was out. Didn't see them today. I'm guessing that they went back underground after seeing their shadows and we have 6 more weeks of winter ahead of us. In the words of Emilie, "That means spring will arrive just about the time we return from the cruise." Good thinking, Emilie! :thumbsup2

The kids made a cute snow-witch this afternoon. I'll have to post the picture when I upload it. Spring is very, very late out here this year.

You might be able to see the launch from Orlando, depending on cloud cover. However, I seriously doubt that you will be able to see the Delta rocket from Jacksonville.

Hello all!
I have a new question regarding some recent posts, and being a first time cruiser I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me the scoop regarding the CAT 12 situation. Do people have to wait for their cabin numbers depending on what category one chooses? If you select cat 12 is there a financial advantage? If anyone can give me an explanation (for future reference) I'd appreciate it! Thanks in advance!
PS-We're up to page 90!! WOOHOO!!:woohoo:

I just checked and have also been assigned a cabin but I am a bit confused:confused3(which really doesn't take much!!:lmao:).We were assigned Stateroom #2054 which shows on the deck plans as a Cat 9 Oceanview but on my ressie details it still says cat 12 - standard inside. I don't know which is right:confused:. Should I be happy:woohoo:or sad:sad2:?

I can actually answer your question. We purchased CAT 12 GTY (guarantee) for our first 2 cruises, but not this one.

When you purchase a CAT 12 GTY, it means you will get a Category 12 room or better. You are allowing DCL to determine what room to give you, which allows them great flexibility. There is a risk that one could actually be assigned a Category 12 room (sleeps 3), but that is unlikely. If you don't get a CAT 12 GTY, then you can choose exactly which (available) cabin you want.

There is a financial advantage to choosing a CAT 12 GTY. You benefit for allowing DCL to assign your room. The disadvantage is you may or may not like the room you get. Last cruise, we were assigned a Cat 10 inside room, which has no windows or veranda. We were put in a CAT 9 the first cruise.

If I remember correctly, the CAT 9 was around $1500 more than the CAT 12 GTY. I took a gamble and lost that we might get a CAT 9 by purchasing the CAT 12 GTY. Still, we were happy with our CAT 10.

For the May 2 cruise, I went ahead and chose CAT 9 stateroom #2608 because it was mid-ship and it is near the laundry room. :laundy: My In-laws got the CAT 12 GTY and ended up with a CAT 10, but since our ressies are linked, they were put right across the hall from us.

:cool1: YOU SHOULD BE ECSTATIC! :cool1:

You got a CAT 9 Oceanview. Congrats. :goodvibes

You can see the location of your stateroom here:

Also, you can read reports on various staterooms at this URL:

Here is what one user had to say about your cabin:
Notes: What a great stateroom! We wouldn't hesitate to reserve this again. Very quiet and convenient to the mid-ship elevators / stairs. The room has the steamer trunk for additional storage.

Thanks zerog for the info but my question to you is -What did it say on your ressie? When you were assigned your Cat 9 room did it still state Cat 12 standard inside?
I'm a little slow...:rotfl:

Oh....hey!!! One more thing, you are almost across from us and about 10 staterooms down!!! lol!
