May 1st is a national holiday, What can I expect and what to do?

We will be in Paris on may 1st, and its a national holiday, Labour Day... I have been reading up on it...I understand that banks and a lot of business will be closed, as well as some national monument, and museums.

I have read a lot on line, and not really sure what to expect.... or what a good plan of action will be...

Suggestions or some info would be very much appreciated.

All major attractions will be open, the metro will be running as normal and most cafes and restaurants will be open as normal as well
