I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :thumbsup2

Hi everyone,
Just booked our first ever cruise
Anyone else sailing on the 19th of May?
I'm looking forward to researching and planning this as I have a lot to learn and I am hoping you guys can help me out :worship:

I hope to be cruising this same weekend, my 2nd cruise ever (both with Disney). I cruised on the Wonder in late Nov. 2009 and am planning on cruising this weekend in May 2011 in celebration of my graduating from the College of Education at University of Central Florida. The Dream will be a total different ship from the Wonder but I'm sure it'll be just as grand if not more.

I'm excited. Congrats on booking your first cruise with DCL!

Hello there :goodvibes

What a great way to celebrate your graduation :thumbsup2

I'm on deck 10 and my ticker seems to be stuck

Everything I have read about the Dream sounds amazing but as it is my first time on a cruise I have nothing to compare it to

Did you have a great time on the Wonder? Did you do the same itinerary?

My first (and only Disney Cruise) was on the Wonder Nov 2009. I had a very good time, even though I felt like I was constantly on the go and the 3 days went by sooo fast. I do not know what the Dream will offer, however considering that both the Wonder and Magic have the same cast away party and Pirates in the Caribbean party (from my understanding) The Dream should have the same parties, which are a lot of fun! You do NOT want to miss them. I'm sure the shows will be different, but I'm sure they'll still be amazing as on the Wonder. Animator's Pallet is the same on the Dream as on the Wonder, but I think they have changed it up a bit as far as decor goes. The other 2 restaurants (Enchanted Garden and Royal Palace) I cannot wait to eat in!!! And again, to sit on Castaway Cay - amazing!!! I won't want to leave.

You will have a blast!!! :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

I have the first seating for dinner (5:45). What time do you have?

Adding this cruise to the 4-night May 15th making this my 1st Back to Back cruise. Traveling with my DD(6) and my mom (70+) and celebrating my 40th while DH stays home with my other 3 kids... so it's an "all girl" trip!
Will only be doing FE once so will wait and decide which one to do at a later date.
:)

Hello there. Wow back to back cruises that sounds really exciting :yay:
I am travelling with my DH and we are both first timers. It will be our 5th trip to Disney though
I don't really understand what the deal is with FE. Do you just leave people little gifts :confused3

It sounds like there is going to be an awful lot to do on the ship :cool1:
From the pictures I have seen of how The Dream is going to look I think it's going to be amazing. What do you think of Nasau?
I have read lots of posts saying you should stay on the ship instead

Hi all! I think we may be joining you. Not booked yet, but submitted the quote request to DU so should be booking soon.

My mom wanted to try cruising with us but wanted a casino so we decided we could do the 3 day and go to Atlantis in the Bahamas for her. DH and I have done the 3-day twice and while we aren't super thrilled with the itinerary and length, we definitely want to see the new ship! And any cruise is a good cruise :)

We are doing our first long (7 night) cruise in a couple weeks (not on Disney) so it will be fun to see what that will feel like!

:welcome: Its great that you have all been on cruises before.
I can drive you all mad with my stupid questions :rotfl:

Fish Extenders are a lot of fun. When I went on my first cruise my friend and I participated in fish extenders with 3 other cabins. Someone had created a post for our cruise asking who wanted to participate, and only 4 cabins participated, which was fine and almost more than enough as it can get expensive.

You can find instructions on how to make a fish extender (see pics below of what ours looked like) and then we bought all sorts of stuff to give to the other cabins: a dry erase board w/ Mickey/Minnie on it, prepackaged candy, stickers, Disney pens, we made magnets w/ Disney characters. We got all sorts of stuff and gave all sorts of stuff.

Then via the post about who wanted to participate, we shared our cabin numbers w/ each other and walked all over the ship giving our fish extender gifts.

Also we decorated our doors w/ homemade magnets. Since we were cruising in celebration of our 30th birthdays we decorated our door to reflect that. Everyone who walked past our door loved it!

See photos!

Me with the fish extender - the green sections were the pockets that you can stick stuff in.

Nassau was ok. It was my first time being there, so I was excited about going. However my friend and I only hit up the Straw Market. I got some goodies for my family back home. It's exciting to see that you can get a Coach bag (whether real or fake) for really cheap, but make sure you really check it out before you buy it. After I got mine home, I realized that one side of the strap is about ready to fall off, as the sewing of the leather was falling apart. I think my Coach bag is a fake anyway, so that's probably why. It's so worn out that I'm afraid to wear it (as it's a cross body bag) in fear that the strap will break on me. So I wasted $$ there. But I got some nice goodies for the family that say Nassau on them. Seeing the water is amazing! And just seeing the buildings on the way to and from the Market are cute to see. I did not venture out of the port area. Like I could see the ship at all times. I think I was back on the ship by noon time. I spent just a few hours at the Market, got some pics outside the "famous" Senor Frogs, got a few pics of me in Nassau and that was it.

When I go again next year, w/ my parents, I have no desire to venture further out to be honest with you. We will hit up the Market, as my parents have never been (they've never been out of the country before!) and then back on the ship. When/if I go again after this next time, the day in Nassau I will probably just stay on the ship and do what the ship has to offer (as that is what you're really paying for).

Suzanne

So with the 4 day and the 3 day back to back you will be doing a 7 day cruise. Did you have to book 2 separate cruises or can you book one and extend? (not sure how that works) Also do you get the same stateroom? And when you 4 day ends, do you get to stay on the ship or do you have to get off and check in again and then get back on?

May I ask how much this cost you for both cruises back to back? That sounds like something I may want to look into for in the (far) future.

OK we are officially booked! Woohoo another cruise and a new ship to look forward to - can't wait!!

Hi there!

I'm TifffanyD's lesser half, and figured I'd pop my head in for the cruise thread as well. We have been on 2 sailings on the Wonder so far, and by the time that cruise rolls around we'll have two more on the Magic under our belts as well as one on the Carnival Legend in just 2 weeks :cool1::cool1::cool1

LOL how did you find this???

Hoorah, two more people booked !!
Kelly, your photos are great, wow you put a lot of work into your door decorations
Not sure I am quite so creative !!

Ooh by the way, have any of you tried any excursions?
We are thinking of probably not doing any as 3 days isn't long

Nope we haven't done any excursions on Disney on either of the 3 days. I think we are just going to go it alone to Atlantis. We did this the first time and took a water taxi over there and back. Next time we MAY take the water taxi there but we will definitely be taking a regular taxi back. We had to wait FOREVER for enough people to fill the boat to go back - like an hour seriously!

I also would like to go to Ardastra Gardens but not sure we will have time for both

I really can't take all of the credit. My friend (who went on the cruise with me) wanted to participate in the fish extenders stuff, so I just agreed. She found most of the magnets and made the fish extender. It took her hours to do so. *lol* And she bought all the stuff to do the fish extender gift exchange. But the little Mickey Heads are from Lowe's. We took all the color sample's from Disney's collection and then just cut them out, put a magnet on the back and put them on the door. The rest we found on the Disboards site and printed them out and laminated them, put a magnet on the back and put them on the door (that's what I did mostly w/ this project, help laminate them and printed some out).

But it was a lot of fun! :thumbsup2
