May 19th 2011, Three Day Dream Cruise

I don;t know if we can do a formal night, just because we are going to WDW afterward, and luggage space will be at a premium. Plus, if I tell DH he has to wear a jacket...well, I just don;'t think we will do the formal night. ;)

I am so excited I can't stand it. I am glad to read what other people are wearing. It is putting my mind at ease. I have a turquoise paisley print skirt and white shirt, a grey and pink skirt and shirt set, and a black pant set. All of my shirts will have to do double duty, as will DS and DH's! I am more worried about what to make, or have, them wear!

This is a surprise for Ds, so he will not know he has to wear khakis and a collared shirt until we go to dinner! This can be very good or very bad! I am just packing khaki pants and 2 golf shirts, and a short sleeve button up collared shirt. DS will take khakis and golf shirts.

So thoughts from people who have done this before? Too casual? Just keep in mind, the fancier we dress, the less room for your FE gifts! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Even on formal night your husband won't have to wear a jacket. Just maybe dressier pants and shirt. Maybe a tie?

That's great to know! The jacket is what would take up most of the room. Is there a pirate night on the 3 day cruises? I know there are fireworks, but I thought I read there is no pirate night.

Good Morning from sunny England :cool2:

So the days are slowly ticking by to our cruise and I am starting to panic that I am forgetting something important

This is our first ever cruise and as soon as we booked we decided we would just 'go with the flow' and not make too many plans

Now I am one of those people who plans everything down to the last detail and as we get closer to boarding I keep thinking 'I must be forgetting something?'

So, I've checked in on-line already.
I haven't booked Paolo or Remy as I want to try all three restaurants on the rotation
I've booked the Sting-Ray snorkelling at Castaway Cay as I thought we would both really enjoy it
I don't want to book any spa treatments
We are going to stay on the ship on Nassau day as from what I have read there isn't too much to see there and we aren't going to go over to Atlantis
I still haven't got my FE gifts but I am going to do this next weekend

What am I forgetting?
Anything in particular I should pack?
Anything I should know about boarding and leaving the ship?
When do you pay your tips? (daily or at the end of the cruise) and how do you do this?
Can you use the gym or do you need to pay for a pass?

Sorry for so many questions

Any hints and tips from previous cruisers would be great :goodvibes

Linda

Don't get to worried about dress on the "formal" night, because it is really just a optional "dress up" night and not really a "formal night". We are just going to wear a Sunday outfit of some sorts.

Linda ~ I can't answer any of your questions other then we pre-paid our tips. I do know that you pay/hand out the last night of the cruise.

I am getting WAY nervous about this check in process. We picked the 11am to 11:30am check-in time and plan on being there in that time frame. I just pray that it is not wall to wall people. We have no clue what we are doing since this is our first Disney cruise and with all of the confusion, I know we will just be skipped over. (If that makes any since) Deep cleansing breaths!!! :flower3:

I have prepared myself for a long wait!
I guess if you know it is coming it won't be so bad :rolleyes1
I would love to pre-pay our tips, how does that work and how do you set it up?

We use a TA for all of our Disney trips and she asked me if I wanted to include the basic tip allowance so I said yes and so the tips were paid when I paid the trip in full.

If your not using a TA, I guess you could just call DCL and tell them that you want to pay for your tips now and they will take your CC#. On the last night of the cruise you will get vouchers with the envelopes that they give you and you can just put the vouchers into the envelopes and even add more cash to the envelope if you feel they went above and beyond.

I hope I explained that right!!! ;)

a co-worker of mine just took a 3 day cruise on the Dream a couple weeks back. As for boarding...she got there at 11am and had to wait about an hour until they called her number. She suggested that we show up around 12:30pm so that the lines die down. She said that the reason it's so crowded in the morning is b/c of those that are coming in on planes and travel buses. :scared1:
On another note...One thing that has me baffled is that the power outlets in the rooms are not your typical US outlets. I guess they are the european type? :confused3 Not sure if they have converters available on the ship. However, I plan on calling them to get more details because I NEED my flat iron :rotfl:

No US outlets? Ugh.

Thanks for this :goodvibes

I callled the TA and they have taken my CC details which they said would be passed on to DCL

I didn't know that we would get vouchers and envelopes on the last night so that is great to know. I was worried that the crew wouldn't be aware that we had pre-paid our tips and I also wondered what we would do if we wanted to give more so thanks for clearing that up :thumbsup2

Not long now :cool1:

The outlets would HAVE to be US electrical outlets b/c that's the majority of the people cruising on these ships, American. So... why would they not have US electrical outlets?

In all the posts made about other people who have traveled, not once have I read to bring a converter or that one was provided and no complaints about not knowing to have a converter.

Hey Guys!!!

I am working on my FE gifts and have a question!!!

Room 7600 - Simone, Steve and Rhonda!! Is that one couple and one single adult?

Room 6110 - Luvmyboys89, Adult 2 and Adult 3. Same question!!

Thanks for the help!!!

Hi all! I am putting together FE gifts and I was wondering if I could get details for each cabin. I have most cabins figured out from PTRs and posts, but there are a few I am unsure of (like whether the 2nd adult is a mom or dad or grandmother...)

I know some people don't want to give out too much info, but all I need is the age group (younger? older?) and gender of the adults (I think the kids are covered). Also, any food allergies for adults or kids would be nice...I was going to try to bring everyone a little bit of Texas. But not the blowing dirt part we had today! :goodvibes

If you want to, you can send me a private message to keep detail private. Or just let me know that you'd rather not divulge too much? There are girl gifts and guy gifts, but the guy gifts can be for anyone, so that's my fallback plan.

Thanks all!

I am pretty sure you have all of our info but just incase here it is

Joe DH - 43
Tracy ME - 47
Summer DD 14
Fallon DD 11
