Wow!! What a trip! This was our first ever trip to WDW and to say the least...we are all totally HOOKED and can't wait to return!!
Our party consisted of my DH, two DSs age 7 and 11 and then my stepmom, brother (15) and sister (24) met us there for 4 nights (May 19-23).
We arrived at the All-Star Sports on Sunday at about 5..no crowds at checkin and I got exactly the room I had requested by fax 5 days before checkin...we were in room 107, ground floor right on the 10 yard line of the football field! The homerun pool was a mere 25 yards from our door and the food court/surfs up pool was maybe 75 yards the other direction. My kids absolutely loved the huge sports icons (and so did my sports loving hubby!)We quickly settled in and headed to the homerun pool, things were pretty quiet and we loved the relaxing evening. I wasn't a big fan of the food court food (too much greasy fried sandwich stuff for me, although they did have salads and fruits in the market). My husband went nuts over the meatball subs and my kids lived on chicken fingers and fries the whole week! Just a note, the food was served up very quickly, however, plan to wait if you order a burger cuz they cook them to order.
We took advantage of the EMH at the MK Monday morning...hit Tomorrowland (kids loved Space Mtn and BuzzLightyear but thought astro orbitor and the TTA were lame. Hubby did AlienEncounter and liked it) Then off to Fantasyland and did everything we wanted before reg opening (this was my kids least fav part of the park...we did Snow White, Small World, Peter Pan and the cups...kids liked the cups ok but thought everything else was a waste). We then headed to Thunder Mountain at 9 am and waited 15 mins for that, 5 min wait on Splash mtn and 5 mins for Pirates of the Carib. We stopped and grabbed some hot dogs at Casey's (totally awesome, esp w/saurkraut!!) and some ice cream and popcorn (something about MK popcorn!! its the best!!) then literally fought our way down Main Street against all the late risers! (Take adv of EMH!!). We knew we missed some things but knew we had time later in the week to come back for the EE on Thurs.
Went back to the hotel for lunch and swimming, pool was still practically empty and the kids loved playing on the football field! Ate sandwiches and ramen noodles for dinner in our room and then decided to head to Epcot (We saw Michael Jackson!). We went to Ice Station Cool (we all loved it!! Make sure u try ALL the flavors!), saw honey I shrunked the Audience. We really liked it but my 7 yr old, who normally is not afraid of anything, really got scared with the lion and snake coming out at him and my hubby had to take him from the theater! We headed over to test track and the wait was for 60 mins so we decided to get fast passes. As soon as we got them along came some seriously scary thunderstorms and my family called to let me know they had arrived at the hotel so we decided to come back for TT another time and headed back to the hotel to greet the rest of the family.
A few notes about the All Star Sports Resort:
--there was plenty of room for the four of us and the staff was real nice. The only problem I had was that the pillows are rock hard so I'd recommend bringing your own if possible. They have a decent sized arcade and the bus system was excellent (the only bus problem I could possibly complain about is that you would think they would have a few more coming and going during peak hours..like EMH and after parade times, etc)
Next: Days 3 and 4....MGM and BB.....Holy Cow...Can I love a ride more than Rock n Roller Coaster!?!!!
