May 18, 2013 MAGIC EBTA - Who is with us?

So glad we have such wonderful teachers, staff and principals to work with - neither child's school (one elementary and one middle-schooler) has a problem with us pulling the kids out. We've done it multiple years in a row for multiple weeks (not all at one time, but one week here, one week there, one week another time) and have never, ever had any issues at all.

Middle schooler is a little bummed he has to work so hard the last week before we leave, but I offered to just find him someone to stay with here instead of coming with us, and he cheered right up - :rotfl2::rotfl2:

HAHAHA he didn't want to stay with a friend??? :lmao:

The boys' school is actually awesome. Very small Montessori (only about 225 kids preschool through 6th grade), but the boys aged up to the two 6-9 classes (1st-3rd grade) this year and I don't know the teachers as well as their 3-6 ones (who I would just tell we were going the week before haha). The new teachers have all been cool about taking the boys out so far...they have missed a lot though, and that's when I get a little cautious.

Is the roll call on the website only for people participating in FE? Or is it for everyone? We've never done the FE before and my husband doesn't know if he wants to do it on this cruise! I am not very crafty or creative so I'd have no idea what kind of gifts to give. I know my daughter would enjoy doing it though, so we are still thinking about it. Also my DH and I would be interested in participating in the running club, how do I sign up?

any tips how to spot the fakes? Other than posted from Hong Kong

On the collectors board there is a great thread about pin collecting. Tells you everything to look out for, and also has a list of ebay sellers that are good and not so good. In general, the bags of pins you buy like 25/50 etc in a bag for dirt cheap are fakes/scrappers.

I use a seller on ebay who is great, and also does free international postage which is perfect for me in England. I tend to buy the set packs of 7, so things like the cupcake set, or starwars set. I normally get these for around $9.99. Have had no scrappers or fakes to my knowledge, they all come in the correct packaging with the actual price still on the back.

Thanks for all the good vibes. Had my neck scan today and it was fairly good news. Have got a thyroglossal cyst, so as I understand it, basically a lump filled with fluid. May have to have surgery to remove it, but won't find out for a while. However, I am over the moon its not something more serious, so I will take the surgery if necessary!

Ours was the full 50, and so it goes. But I also think it depends on the bartender, as we also attended a "public" mixology class and it was a different bartender and he wasn't near as good!

I know - we'll find out who it is, go to "his" bar on his shift (or her shift!) and then tip them really good - LOL! When it comes time for our private class, then maybe it'll be better - ROFL!

That's a great strategy. I could help "find" the right bartender. :lmao:

Yes. Ditto here. DisBoards in general. No fun when you want to share an experience but if less-than-perfect know you will get flamed.

Unfortunately, some can get really ugly if you are not all pixie dust and rainbows about your Disney experience. That's the dark side of the boards. ;)

That is such good news, very happy for you

I hope both of you have a better response than I did. All I got was a bunch of crickets. Makes the drop off/pick up very uncomfortable haha.

They haven't responded yet? To me, no response means yes, Bon voyage!! :rotfl:

Our school has always been very good about it. In 2007, my eldest DD missed the first 8 days of school for WBTA. The school was great, they just did not officially register her until the her first day back for attendance purposes. I expect them to do something similar for the my younger two. We also have a culturally diverse student body so it's not unheard of for kids to leave school for a month or more to go back to visit their home country.

So my little sister has caved in and has decided she will be joining us on this cruise. She will also be brining the newest member of our family, Clara, born 1/14. Her DH will be staying behind, so my DH will be the lone adult male. Two guys (DH and 10 yr nephew) and seven girls! They are slightly out numbered. Looks like we will be getting 3 cabins. We are not officially booked yet but we are 99% comitted so I will be sending PMs. We would like to do the FE for all three cabins and will give to every cabin. Since there was interest, I will "be in charge" of the running club. Let me know if it can be added to the website. I can write a description in a bit. Since my sister is now withe her kids, I will let her deal with traveling with them. Any advice for her? It is their first cruise and she will have a 4 month old and a 3 year old. Getting excited!

Did you get detention :rotfl:
:rotfl2:

Just booked a 2BR at Kidani for Christmas! And yeah I'll wait to tell the teachers since I'm pulling the boys out again for a week HAHAHA.
:rotfl:

HAHAHA! Luckily I work W TH F so DH has to see them, not me! :rotfl2:
Now that's funny!

I'm neither crafty nor creative either! And my husband nixed the idea of the FE. I know my girls would really enjoy it, but it's just not in the cards for us this time.

But I'll do the running/walking club like you!

Ain't it the truth? :worried:

So far all of our experiences have been kool-aid worthy, but I know that if we have something less than perfect happen that I'll need to keep quiet about it here.

I just realized that might be why our school is so good about it. We have a lot of folks that head to Mexico for the winter months. I live in a windsurfing mecca and they all travel to Baja for the winter to surf down there and they take their kids. I guess I need to be thankful to the surfing folks.

Can you believe in a couple of days we'll be at the 120 day mark! We booked this cruise around this same time last year. We were at WDW celebrating my DD's 16th Birthday. It seems like time is starting to speed up. :cool1:

:cool1: I'm telling ya, after calling to PIF today, wow. Big weight lifted. Now to continue picking up DCL cards at Target to have some once onboard the ship. that 5% RedCard helps!
