I don't know that we need to take a vote or anything :confused3. If you're up for doing it, I think it should get done. How many folks need placeholders? If you can't get ahold of the ones that need them, you can "save" that spot and put a link into it to whatever post they end up using. Does that make sense? I would just really love to have a "working" first post.

Our first post previously had a list of all activities with a link directly to it's page on the website, but those were removed a while back. I think that was helpful as it brought even more awareness to what activities we had in place.

The website also has the "recently updated" feature in the bottom right as well that is super helpful. But we still get the questions between here and facebook like "oh, we have ___ event?". Yes. Here's the link. "Who's organizing that?" Um, it's on that link I just shared.

If we can get more utilizing the website, that would be fabulous! But I think it was June when it was created as we were doing descriptions back then.
 
Also, don't flame me but isn't that the purpose of the website?

I also meant to reply to this... please, please, please let me know if I ever say anything that comes across as flaming. :grouphug: From having been flamed and PM'd before (that had me turn off DIS PMs because just so hurtful), or just completely ignored, I know it is an awful feeling. It is never, ever my intention to say anything in a negative or hurtful way towards anybody. I've been on CruiseCritic over 12 years with other cruiselines and never seen flaming like I have on DIS. Heck, even stating a fact that you can back up with a website can get you flamed here. So definitely no flaming coming from me :goodvibes
 
HAHA, BUSTED! That was me on facebook! I work outside and travel alot so I use a 7" tablet when doing both and it is hard to see the side and I fat-finger it alot!

LOL! And I was not even thinking of you!! It happens a lot.
 

Here's the other thing that works well with how the website is set up:

Chris has hyperlinked a specific post to the webpage, so an organizer can have "their post" buried on any page of the thread, and update as needed. When that is updated, it is also updated on the website without him having to do anything.

Example: https://sites.google.com/site/onama...o/mandygirl-s-tourism-info-for-galveston-area


The organizer who made that post can actually click on that DIS post and edit as necessary. Once updated, it shows on the website real time.

The only negative... once we hit 250 pages and this thread is shut down, updates will not be able to be made so the organizer just has to recopy the info onto a new post of new thread, then send Chris the link so he can update the hyperlink within the website.

I did an edit just to show that something can be edited. See the bottom of it and you see I did that about 20 minutes ago :thumbsup2

Even just having a list on page one of the events like we used to have with would be helpful for some I think.

Something like this - a straightforward list of events might bring more awareness:

Speaking of... I was glancing through them -- is the Secret Mickey Reveal going to be intertwined into the Until We Meet Again Lunch? That might be an update we can do for the Lunch if so.

Plus there are other links. Has anyone asked recently "what is a good way to go from IAH to Galveston" or "What are some pictures we can use to make things?" Both are already links on the webpage (not onboard events listed above, but are listed with info) Very comprehensive, but for some reason not being utilized to it's maximum :confused3
 
I like the idea of the events being listed on page 1 as well. I'm looking at Disboards from my phone the majority of the time and rarely check the website (no offense).

When starting the new Part Two, if we keep everything on page one for each organizer, then Chris can embed the new hyperlink of new thread post to correct page on website (like those two examples I posted). Then those who prefer the website are happy, and those who prefer page one are happy. Hopefully a Win Win situation. :thumbsup2

I'm a running commitment-phobe (I'm a swimmer/water polo player -- do not do well on land!), but I might decide to join y'all! Still a little gun-shy...

We are in Norman. Just South of OKC. My hubby grew up here, and they have a family business here.
I've stayed all over Oklahoma! My Dad used to be stationed in Ft. Sill. Have you been to Anadarko yet?

That must be the reason I don't look either lol , mostly on the move on my phone too when checking in

I am trying to get ideas. It sounds a lot like reverse trick-or-treating.
I was thinking of theming gifts around a special night, like pirates. Did your family ever have a fave gift?
