~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
I've been out of touch the past few days and just finished with the boards. Those of you who have me on facebook might have noticed that I met Brendan Fraser at work the other day. So work was busy last week getting ready for the event. Brendan will be playing my CEO, John Crowley, in a movie that starts to film in April.
Do you act? When you say Brendan will be playing YOUR CEO, what does that mean? What movie is it and where is it being shot? You can PM me if you want to. If I remember, you live here in CA also! I can't wait for the industry to start back up! Hubby has been off work since practically June because the actors can't come to an agreement. So many movies are ready to go but they are just waiting for the actors (or the union) to figure it all out! And it doesn't help Hollywood to survive when they are taking so many movies elsewhere!!:scared:
Welcome back, Kym!! It sux to be behind, doesn't it?!?! Anyway, I think they changed the recommendations to include jeans sometime within the last two years. I know in April 2007, they didn't allow jeans, but it has changed since then. I do remember seeing it on the main board when it happened. We'll probably mix it up a bit with jeans, khakis, and slacks.
Yes, there's 3--one on each deck 7, 6, and 2. I went there the first day and ironed shirts for dinner that night and then had the rest sent out to be pressed.
Oh, I forgot to tell what I did yesterday morning when the boards were down! I filled out my online registration (need to print them yet, though), I ordered Stay Certificates for the Hyatt @ MCO for the night after the cruise, I reserved the rooms at Hyatt, and I reserved our car service for Friday from the aiport to the Radisson! Yay!! (I obviously can get a lot accomplished when the boards are down...) :blush: Now I need to find & reserve a hotel for Thurs night in Omaha (flying out at 6 AM on Friday! UGH!) and reserve a rental car for Saturday after disembarkation. Oh, and FIND MY PASSPORTS!! (They're not where I thought they were!!) :scared:
Wow! You got a lot done. Here....still no plane tickets, no hotel, no car, hmmm.....a little behind with everything right now! It's not like waiting until the last minute! I so don't function like that though!
We cruise every April or May and didn't even catch the jean thing last year. Maybe because hubby always just wore khakis so we never paid attention. Mix and match coordinates are the best to pack and jeans go with everything so I like that idea!! I would say that Animator's Palate is probably the least dressy.
We have always done our laundry half way through the cruise. We usually go 3 days before the cruise and a few days after so 2 weeks of clothes is too many to pack!! I would rather throw 2 loads in than to cart another suitcase.
I have a random question.....
What does your Disboards user name stand for?
Faith&Hope......the names of my 2 girls!!
Sorry I havent been on in awhile.
Anyhoo...sorry about all the downers, Is anyone doing the dolphin encounter?? Hubby and myself have booked it for Chris. Since he is so young, there are very few excursions that he could do, or would enjoy and we thought that he would love that one since he loves Dolphins and animals in general (like his mama) :hug:
Hang in there!! Here's sending hugs your way!! :hug:
We are going to do the dolphin encounter with our 2 girls. It's hard to do things with the little ones but this is great for the little ones to do! Which place were you thinking of going to? We are going to Chaunkanab (spelling?) because of the beach and pool there (not to mention that kids are free)! Dolphin Discovery has the same thing in a different type of environment but no beach or anything else to do. I don't have my printout...how old is Chris? Did you already reserve? What time?
Hope you are starting to feel better! I'm wearing jeans, but not the faded out cruddy ones and definitely with a "dress" shirt. (I may even wear one of my "work" oxfords with my office emblem one night...) Wearing nice jeans is a treat for me! I can only wear jeans on the weekend, and generally those are for "outdoors" things. I can't even remember the last time I wore "dress" jeans! Don't worry though, I'll be dressed "appropriately" on formal and semi-formal nights!
Dressing up jeans can be done with a little imagination! Throw a dress shirt on and go! Voila!
I am still getting first names confused with DIS names! When you guys mention real names, I can't remember who you are talking about! My husband laughs at me because I printed out the excel sheet and it's 4 pages long. When I need to look up a name, I open it up arms length and look for the name! He laughs because he says I'm gonna be the one in the terminal and on the boat walking with this huge paper in front of my face!:lmao: Everyone will know me! My name is Kym and I am into details!
Can we print the excel chart smaller? I'm not sure how to resize it or print it smaller. Help!!
Mati - Yeah, I think 24 at a table is impossible! Maybe for those that want to be linked for early dining, they could post if they want to sit with kids or not. I think there's a group of late diners that prefer to not have kids (and I don't blame them)! I don't have the list with me but are there any kidless couples on the early dining list? We could sit 2-3 families together and then ask for all the other families to be in the same general area. Does that make sense?:confused3
Why don't we post our preference? I have 2 girls (3.5 & 6.5) so would prefer to sit with kids!
GOOD LORD HAVE YOU FOUND THE PASSPORTS?!?!
No, not yet. I thought they were in my fireproof box at home, but they must be in the safety deposit box at the bank. I'll check tomorrow.
How do we handle the linking if there are subgroups within groups? (thinking of Val with her family for example) Right now we have 24 people to link for early dining and haven't yet heard from everyone. I am thinking a 24 top table will be a bit too big for them. :lmao: !
If they won't let us subdivide the group slightly, then maybe we can just let them figure it out however they want to and then when we show up at dinner the first night, if we need to do any rearranging, we can. That's the only reason I knew that a DISer's traveling companions were separated last time. When they showed up for dinner, their friends weren't even at their table, so they did some last minute rearranging. I'm sure we can figure it out at least a little beforehand because of what the dining tickets will say (I can't remember if they're in the SR on the first day or given to you at check-in). Maybe we can compare tix & discuss it at a DIS meet--Mickey pool, Promenade lounge, sailaway party, wherever we decide--so we maybe have some sort of idea heading into the dining room the first night. My parents actually have Palo the first night anyway, so we can do the first night however we want anyway!
Is your hubby in the movie business??
Cause I'm a Wardrobe Coordinator for films here in Utah. Stupid recession has slowed work. I have 3 projects coming up late summer/fall. So right now I'm BORED and want to work!!!! Keep your fingers crossed, I MAY get to work on High School Musical 4 which starts in June. I'm really hoping to work on that.
My last movie I made will come out next Christmas on ABC Family's 28 days of Chirstmas movie marathon. Called either "Christmas Angel" or "Secret Santa". :D
Sonya - I finally finished your food report. Can you email me the pocket itinerarys you mentioned? I have a format that I've used in the past, but a one that fits onto an index card sounds so much easier.
Below is our list of our ADRs (or plans) I haven't been able to scour the dinning boards, let me know if you've heard of any really bad reviews:
For those of us that will be in WDW before the cruise did you want to try and meet up for an early DIS meet? We arrive on May 9 and will be staying at Old Key West.
J
Will answer everyone else after work (or maybe at work :rotfl:) just wanted to say we will be at Raglan Road the same night!! Our ADR is 8pm! We always go there our last night, we just love it! We will keep an eye out for you!
I have seen some good Yak and Yeti reviews lately, so you should be fine. I am having a panic - T-Rex versus Spoodles - haven't been to either before, have an ADR for T-rex but now feel I should try Spoodles before it closes in the Fall! I don't know what to do - has anyone been to Spoodles before??:confused3
Will send the itinery cards over tonight!
Mati: As for the name issue, I prefer Cinda or Loucinda. Adam calls me both at varying times, so even he hasn't "settled" for one or the other yet!:) Generally, my buddies call me Cinda. In terms of things I will answer to:
Loucinda, Cinda, Cin, Lucy, Da (but only because my friend was Cindi...we were "Di" and "Da" at work :rotfl: as teens)!
Things I don't answer to: Cindy (unless you are my parents' friend for 30 years who still calls me this), Louchinda, Dudinda, Luciana... (These are all spellings of my name I've received in the mail over the years...)
I LOVE swimming and snorkelling and think you and Shawan are making a great decision to learn! My sister and I are obese, but we are like fish when we get into the water. I definitely think both of you should consider "practicing" snorkelling before getting on the boat though. It's very difficult for some people to adapt to (ie my Mom never has been able to do it), and sometimes takes time to "perfect." Also, you will be shocked at how bouyant you are in the Caribbean waters. I pretty sure the only way to sink is by tieing a weight to your ankles!
Good Morning Everyone! I really should be working. In fact, today is my day to go into the office but had meetings starting early and we had a rough night so think I will WFH today. I have to pull myself away from my personal computer though -- have got to get some work done!!!!
I am still getting first names confused with DIS names! When you guys mention real names, I can't remember who you are talking about! My husband laughs at me because I printed out the excel sheet and it's 4 pages long. When I need to look up a name, I open it up arms length and look for the name! He laughs because he says I'm gonna be the one in the terminal and on the boat walking with this huge paper in front of my face!:lmao: Everyone will know me! My name is Kym and I am into details!
Hi Kym! I only have a few first names down by memory now. I have my excel spreadsheet open and check that to know who is who -- then I do my best to respond using first names --- little trick Val taught me and it is working out well!!!
Mati - Yeah, I think 24 at a table is impossible! Maybe for those that want to be linked for early dining, they could post if they want to sit with kids or not. I think there's a group of late diners that prefer to not have kids (and I don't blame them)! I don't have the list with me but are there any kidless couples on the early dining list? We could sit 2-3 families together and then ask for all the other families to be in the same general area. Does that make sense?:confused3
I think everyone has kids? At least in the group I mentioned. There are 2-4 other groups in early dining that I know will link but wasn't including them in the count.
If they won't let us subdivide the group slightly, then maybe we can just let them figure it out however they want to and then when we show up at dinner the first night, if we need to do any rearranging, we can. That's the only reason I knew that a DISer's traveling companions were separated last time. My parents actually have Palo the first night anyway, so we can do the first night however we want anyway!
That sounds like a plan! Ok, I'll get another posting of the list out at the end of the week. Then if it looks good to you, PM me your reservation number and I'll call Disney at the end of the month. Is that too late? Was thinking we could do the April 1 deadline for that too?
I MAY get to work on High School Musical 4 which starts in June. I'm really hoping to work on that. :D
Sabrina will think that is pretty cool and she isn't all that into HSM. (I think it is cool and haven't seen any of the movies)!
I have an ADR for T-rex but now feel I should try Spoodles before it closes in the Fall! I don't know what to do - has anyone been to Spoodles before??:confused3
Will send the itinery cards over tonight!
Sonya -- I asked about T-Rex when I called in for Ohana and they told me they didn't do ADR. How did you book it? Also -- can you send me the itinerary cards too? TIA
Mati: As for the name issue, I prefer Cinda or Loucinda. Adam calls me both at varying times, so even he hasn't "settled" for one or the other yet!:) Generally, my buddies call me Cinda. In terms of things I will answer to:
Cinda -- thanks for that! I get a lot of variations on my name. I get even more pronunciations. For the record, the right pronunciation is "Mawdie". I get a lot of "Maddy". I will pretty much answer to anything unless it is super crude! :lmao:
I am going to see about snorkel lessons. We have a pool out back and it is finally warming up so once it is warmer, I can practice there too. I want the kids to be comfortable with it too so we shall see if I can make that happen. I wish I were a fish in the water. I am working on it. With a pool in the backyard you would think I would be but -- ummm, no. At least not yet!
Ok, off to go boot up the work computer and focus focus focus (or at least try).:surfweb:
Have a good day everyone!
I just added ottermouse & yanjan to post #1, and I think we need more family pics there!! I know some people have posted a few somewhere along the road in the thread, so if you did and want me to use that, just let me know! :goodvibes
Oh, and I know I've read that people have had things change (dining time, excursions, etc.), but unfortunately, I didn't update them right away, so if you see that I don't have any part of your info correct on #1, please PM me so it doesn't get lost amongst the pages & pages of posts again. THANKS!!! :goodvibes
My husband laughs at me because I printed out the excel sheet and it's 4 pages long. When I need to look up a name, I open it up arms length and look for the name! He laughs because he says I'm gonna be the one in the terminal and on the boat walking with this huge paper in front of my face!:lmao:
:rotfl2::rotfl2: I have a feeling you won't be the only one!!! I was doing that last time, too!! As much as I thought I had everyone memorized, once it was time to meet, my mind just went blank!! :confused3 :rotfl:
Why don't we post our preference? I have 2 girls (3.5 & 6.5) so would prefer to sit with kids!
I prefer kids, too! My parents are "childless" (does that even make sense?!?! :laughing: ), obviously meaning no young children...of course they have me, but, well...you know what I'm getting at (I'm old!). :rotfl: Anyway, they will want to sit "with kids" even though they are listed as adults only because they will want to be with their grandsons. Hope I'm not totally confusing anyone! ;)
My last movie I made will come out next Christmas on ABC Family's 28 days of Chirstmas movie marathon. Called either "Christmas Angel" or "Secret Santa". :D
How exciting!! Makes my job seem boring! :lmao:
Since you do wardrobes, any hints or tips on how to come up with an 1870's-ish rich, prissy :snooty: costume for an Old West murder mystery that we're invited to next week?!?! :scared: I think I'm doomed...
Things I don't answer to: Cindy (unless you are my parents' friend for 30 years who still calls me this), Louchinda, Dudinda, Luciana... (These are all spellings of my name I've received in the mail over the years...)
I know how you feel!! But for us, it's our last name--Pfenning (the P is silent). The telemarketers are always stumbling over it, so we joke about our name being "Pefferning." At home, I usually answer to Justin calling me "Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyy??" :rotfl2:
I definitely think both of you should consider "practicing" snorkelling before getting on the boat though. It's very difficult for some people to adapt to
You wouldn't think it would be hard to remember to breathe through your mouth, but it really is!!
Ok, I'll get another posting of the list out at the end of the week. Then if it looks good to you, PM me your reservation number and I'll call Disney at the end of the month. Is that too late? Was thinking we could do the April 1 deadline for that too?
I think that should probably be fine. If I remember, they start doing seating arrangements at ~30 days out or so, so it should be just in the nick of time.
I get a lot of variations on my name. I get even more pronunciations. For the record, the right pronunciation is "Mawdie". I get a lot of "Maddy".
I'm glad you told us that because whenever I see your name, in my head I think it's "Maddy," so that will keep me from embarrassing myself! :thumbsup2
Ok, off to go boot up the work computer and focus focus focus (or at least try).:surfweb:
Me, too!! :sad2:
I have a random question.....
What does your Disboards user name stand for?
Some of the user names are pretty easy to guess like "Noodlesmom" I would think that you call one of your children "Noodle" and you are the mom, am I right?
Some I have no idea about like "Speed Figure" - my DD thought that you might be a speed figure skater (never heard of one but you're so creative that I'm sure that if there were such a thing as a speed figure skater then you would be able to perform it :goodvibes)
I'll start...."Shasess" is the first three letters of my first name (Sha) and the first four letter of the maiden last name (Sess)....Get it, Sha sess.
Tink113 - Tinkerbell has been my favorite Disney character for years. My email address Tink113@aol.com has been to same since I was 15!
113 = January 13th (My birthday)
If you see Tink113's Mom, I'm guessing it goes without saying what her screen name means! :laughing: She's my mommy:cutie:
Feels like I've missed so much!
Things have been a bit busy lately. I have sold 2 jobs for my invitations company :banana::banana::banana:! 125 pocketed wedding invitations & 75 beach bridal brunch invitations w/ 85 matching thank you cards. :upsidedow
So, that's going pretty well at the moment.
I have also started a blog too, so I can post tips, photos, etc...
:yay::yay:I can't believe how close it's getting to cruise time!!!!:yay::yay:
I can't wait! Hope everyone is having a good week.
Im sorry if i missed the answer to my question but...pirate:
Has the shuttle launch been delayed for sure... I'm not to sure where to look, and if it is I'm going to get a hotel for cheeper in orlando!!! Thanks!:hippie:
I did ping the lady about my FE and heard back. I am number 4 in line so hopefully in another week or so will get it! Still makes me nervous even though we have plenty of time!
Jane -- love the restaurant list! Sonya -- booked Ohana for the 24th. Unfortunately could only get 9:35 time. The good thing is the fireworks are at 10 and there are EMH hours so maybe, just maybe it will still work out!
!
Glad you are moving up the list!!
You are so lucky getting to see Wishes over dinner - I am really hoping that happens for us in Ohanas or Cali Grill, but I think we will be a bit early for both. Going to have to eat reeeeeally slowly!!!!!!
Hi Shawan! Thanks for sharing my "pain". I learned the breast stroke recently too. I was going to quit -- especially because I can't make the next 2 lessons (garage sale then in Las Vegas) AND the time is just nuts BUT it turns out I accidently paid for April so I guess I am going to tough it out through the month. I am so nervous to move to "Master's" but at least it is a good workout. Did they teach you how to snorkel? I have NEVER been snorkeling and thinking about taking some lessons.
Funny on the eating too much. Me and Yoni went to Outback last night. I had a salad and steak sandwich. It was yummy but I was stuffed for hours after. I was asking Yoni last night -- how do people do it? Eat a big meal and then turn around and eat a huge sundae just a few hours later?? He told me "practice". The only problem is, if I practice I will be the size of a house by the cruise! I guess I have to plan workouts in during the cruise and watch how much I eat so I can taste many things without feeling like a stuffed burrito! Sonya -- I don't think I can be a pro like you...
)
Amateur!!:rotfl::rotfl: You have got to start stretching your tummy already!! Just add in a couple of desserts a day between now and the cruise . . . and buy a bigger bikini just in case!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2:
Snorkelling is fairly easy - well I didn't struggle and I'm not that confortable in the water. I have done it in Discovery Cove in Orlando, and in Australia at the Barrier Reef a few times. Its harder in the ocean as you have to deal with waves coming up over your air pipe!! The trick - which is hard for me - is to stop talking so you can keep your mouth clamped tight!!:rotfl2:
Hi Kym! I only have a few first names down by memory now. I have my excel spreadsheet open and check that to know who is who -- then I do my best to respond using first names --- little trick Val taught me and it is working out well!!!
Have a good day everyone!
I'm going to try harder to learn everyones names - I am really bad for names.
T-Rex have their own reservation line - can't believe Disney didn't give you the number!!! Its 407 828 8739.
Jane and Mati . . . have just send the itinery cards - let me know if they don't arrive as its quite a big file!
my DIS name: dznyacct
dzny = disney
acct = Accountant (my profession)
I can't remember who mentioned telling the kids to look for someone with "our" bracelets, but I think that is a FANTASTIC idea :). I always watched Jake like a hawk when he was little at WDW, but I told him to go up to a castmember if he was ever separated. He knew what their nametags looked like, so he knew who was "safe".
You have a very nice-looking family!
I am too lazy to go back through all the posts :). What was the final "name" we decided on for our group? Key Lime Pie-rates??? Thanks!
Yep, that's it!
FYI on Cozumel Times: Cozumel DOES participate in DST, but they don't "spring forward" until April 5. That means that as of our cruise, they will be 1 hour behind EST. But....Disney will have us adjust our clocks so that ship time is the SAME as Cozumel time! Yeah....we get to sleep an extra hour!
I care about this because I've booked a snorkelling tour via Nachi Cocum at 9am. I figure we'll finish snorkelling between 11 and noon the we have several hours to enjoy the beach, food, and drinks! Just to warn our tablemates...we may or may not make it to dinner that night!:laughing:
Sonya -- we'll see. It seems awfully late to eat. I think I am still going to try to move it to 8:30 or so but right now, they are booked! Thanks for the number for T-Rex. Nope, Disney did not give me the number. The guy told me they were walk-up!
Ok and you are too funny :rotfl:. First of all, after 2 kids and a million diets, you will NOT see this body in a bikini. Second of all, I need to LOSE weight before the cruise, not gain it!! I think I will just have to fake it.
Jane and Mati . . . have just send the itinery cards - let me know if they don't arrive as its quite a big file!
Thanks -- don't know why my email didn't work. PM'd you the address plus work address!
Crystal -- Thanks for sharing the picture! What a great family! Love the faces Coral is making. :)
Cinda -- I am thinking about booking a massage there. We will just lay out by the beach. Yoni may go diving but right now we aren't booked for anything extra. I do plan on enjoying the food and drinks and letting the kids enjoy their virgin drinks to their heart's delight! I hope it is a fun, relaxing day in the sun!
Ok, went to the dentist and NO CAVITIES! That is a big deal for us. Sabrina got Yoni's genetics with the teeth. Poor thing -- we do have to visit an orthodontist already. Her tiny mouth can't fit the big teeth coming in. They may have to pull some more (we pulled 4 already). :scared1: After the dentist we went to Target and I made some shopping progress for the cruise. Bought the kids snorkel gear (on sale :thumbsup2), they each got a swimsuit with rash guard (on sale :thumbsup2) and they got water shoes (on sale! :thumbsup2). I also got a couple more FE gifts and some dive bombs so I can continue working on my swimming in the pool. It felt good to get something done.
I was looking back at Val's first post. Val -- you have done such a good job. We do need more pictures of folks -- now, don't be shy. It is fun looking at pictures!
Alright, need to get some cleaning done -- Saturday (and MIL) will be here before i know it!!!
OK, I am "technically challenged" :). I have some good family pix of us from our last WDW trip. How do I send one to Val to post on page 1? Thanks :)! ~ Kathy
