~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
I think I added everyone. Will post an updated list tomorrow night. If anyone else is interested let me know.
If you don't have tea reservations -- hopefully we can get you added when we arrive. I will go check in when I get there and change Yoni to Jane. Does anyone know if I can reserve for others then too or is it limited to just the two?
I was just informed!!! That We are going on another cruise!!! a 7 day eastern on Feb 27 2010. YAY:banana:
Woo Hoo -- sounds like fun. You are still going with us though right? Saw the sad face in your title and got a bit worried....
I'll know about the Tastings the week of the cruise....have a test to take. :scared:.......I was thinking today that I'm sure other Cruise people are going to be jealous!!
They'll see TONS of people running up to each other, hugging:grouphug:, chatting in big groups. We have a HUGE group and it's AWESOME!!!
I"m just so excited to know that we'll have all these friends surronding us. I"m sure all the crew will soon realize who we all are and won't forget us.
JorDan -- I hope it all works out the way you want it to!
I agree, we will be a HUGE awesome group. I can't wait!!!!
Ok, off to bed. Good night everyone!
Carole--GREAT idea on doing a double dip @ CC instead of Coz!! I'm up for that!!! :thumbsup2 Unfortunately, they would need to do it on a different day than Wed because the Wonder would be there for the 4-nt cruise that day. (Right?) Maybe we would have Wed as a sea day (instead of Thurs) and then do Thurs & Fri @ CC!
Got married April 28, 1972.
OMG!! That's the day & year my sister was born! :laughing: Small world, huh?
(I'd like to change Palo to Thursday now that I know we can get lobster there that night.)
FWIW, we did Palo on Thursday last time, but we decided not to do it again because there's so much good stuff to eat at Palo and then Justin piled lobster on top of it. Ugh. He was miserable!
Ok, here is what I have for the tastings.
Mati--thanks for posting these again!! It had been awhile, and I forgot who all was doing which tastings. Great reminder of who will do them together and also reminding me what I said I wanted to do! :laughing:
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Yay! Just curious, though...who "informed" you? Can they inform me that I'll be going on another cruise, too?!?! :lmao:
Oooooh! Exciting!! I hope you get the result you want!! :lovestruc
Shawn and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for all of you to take Val up on the "spy" brigade!!:rotfl:
It would really make us feel like our special Disney friends are a part of our special day!!!:lovestruc
Awwww...you're so sweet!
I have put in and asked to possibly do the 5:00pm instead but as of right now it hasn't changed. If it does, I will let you guys know!!!
I was really nervous doing our first dance, but now that I know I'll have my friends celebrating with us from above, I feel better!!:goodvibes LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!:hug:
Belinda ~ I put your VR and our super secret spy location (Topsider's) on my list of "VERY important things" for Thursday :). I think by then, we will all be your special Disney friends :).
Can't wait to meet you and the rest of our Friday Epcot gang :)! ~ Kathy
good evening everyone another hot day in central pa.
strong storms tuesday?
got some exciting news today after a meeting I got home to Carrie all smiles
she checked disney web site and was able to get us a 10:00 PALO brunch
on sunday which was one thing that upset her most about our TA messing up our rese.
all the FE's look really neat cant wait to see them in person.
Called DCL today noOBC on our account what do I expect from a small town TA.. They also said they are monitoring the swine flu situation she said she is also on our cruise,keeping a close eye on it herself. to check CDC.gov.for updates. I'll call lacy's Dr. tuesday about meds. and her arthritis and the flu
Lynsey - can you add the Vow renewal to the DIS navigator so we don't forget? Snacks and a wedding what could be better? Of course you probably won't be able to hear anything over all the cameras whirring trying to capture all the wonderful moments.
Kym - glad to have you back. I guess we will definitly have to keep this thread going after the cruise so we can keep up with your recovery.
Thanks for all the great tips.
Sonya - I don't think they will shut down the parks unless there is a full blown epidemic in Florida.
Desiree - My Dad was an electrician and he used to unplug our toaster EVERY morning. I'll have to remember to unplug the hairdryer and curling iron. Do they tell you to unplug the extension cord as well or is the hairdryer thing because its in the bathroom?
JorDan - maybe if you start using your houseguests room as your packing room he will get the hint and take a hike. Sorry you're having to deal with this on top of everything else.
Amy - I'm so sorry you haven't been getting my emails. The email address that I had for you started with brigren8. I'm going to PM you my email address. Send me an email and I'll reply with the updated list.
Jamie - good to have you back. Got your cabin number and added to the list. With all that you have going on its no wonder you haven't been on the boards for awhile. When are you supposed to move? I've done the traveling/moving thing before and its crazy. We put an offer in on a house on Friday (and it was accepted) and I left the state for a business trip for a week. We closed less than a month after the offer and I had another week long busines trip in the middle. Jim did the majority of the packing, which was fantastic, but that just meant that I didn't have ANY idea where anything was packed.
Sue - congratulations on your anniversary!!!
For everyone that will be in WDW pre-cruise. I think we have pretty much decided on two meeting times. We selected two times in order to give everyone an opportunity to make one or the other. If you can make it great, if not, you can try the next meeting time.
3:00pm at the Off Kilter stage in Canada
10:00pm - since no one had a preference how about the France Pavillion for GM slushies and french pastries? We can meet at the base of the water fountain.
Right now the people that have expressed interest and shared cell phone numbers are: Us (Jane/Jim), Kathy/Brian, Mati/Yoni, Belinda/Shawn & Sonya/Tony. If you would like to be added to the list just let us know and we will keep an eye out for you. If you want us to call you if anything changes just PM us your phone numbers.
Ran out today and bought one last pair of pants and another pair of yoga pants (figured if I wear them to work out I don't want to wear them after dinner - yuck). I had a real hard time focusing on work today. I just wanted to re-write my vacation schedule and check things off my packing list. The hope that this week would go fast is NOT coming to be.
I had thought of the double CC as well. I'd love that, even if they had to adjust the itinerary slightly to accommodate it with the Wonder. I don't know if they'd do that, but I think I'd be thrilled to bits. I've been interested in the infrequent 5 day cruises with two stops there as it was.
Not that I've ever been to CC before, but I loved Great Stirrup Cay (NCL) and Princess Cay, so I figure Castaway Cay has just go to rock!
I canceled my Cozumel Excursion, at least for now. I'm not exactly freaking out over the flu thing, but it just seems practical not to bother going now, and I can find wonderful things to blow the $132 on instead. I also wanted Disney to count my cancellation in case they are looking at them to get a sense of what they should do, that is if the State Dept./CDC doesn't make it for them. If the govt. doesn't, I'd expect if any cruise line would decide to play it safe and stay away it would be DCL. I guess we're all just in "we'll see" mode.
Hi Jane ~ The Epcot evening meet at the fountain in France sounds great :)! I'll still be on cloud nine after Illuminations (if we get out of Chefs de France in time), so give me a GM slushie and a French pastry and life will be VERY good :)! ~ Kathy
Andy - Congratulations to the Ducks for making to the next round.:guilty:
We'll get over it sometime, but right now we are not happy campers...
Peeps!
I had calmed myself down beautifully overnight . . . then someone has just reported on a "swine flu" thread that a German airline has cancelled all flights to the US!!!!! :confused3 Now I am in full blown panic mode again. I called my airline and there are no plans to halt flights, but that won't stop me worrying now!!
Ok, here is what I have for the tastings.
Palo Tea (still need to book for some):
Mati (TexFinn)
Jane (2_Eagle_Scout)
Cinda (Lucyddr)
Tiffany (NoodlesMom)
Carole (Tink113sMom)
Indigo(maybe?)
Chasity (Dizneyholic)
Tammy (? - tsarina13)
I don't have specific times -- have to go back and look. Should we decide on which day/time for tastings? I think we were aiming for 3pm Monday Tea. Is that still good? I have it booked for me and one other (Jane, I think I had you covered right?). Let me know your thoughts and if you want to join us!
Based on the January 2009 Western, these are the days and times of the tastings:
Tequila/Margerita - Monday at 2pm, Thursday at 2pm
Martini - Monday at 3pm (conflicts with Palo High Tea)
Beer - Monday at 4pm, Thursday at 4pm
Wine - Monday at 1pm
Those of us with Palo on Monday at 3pm - for us that would mean drink from 2-3, tea from 3-4, drink from 4-5. Not a bad day, but I'm not sure I want to be wasted for Palo.
Just a reminder for those of us with young kids - the Friendship Rocks show is Thursday at 5pm, and the kids need to be at rehearsal at 4pm (if they're not already in the club). We probably don't want to be too drunk for the show.
I think I'm going to aim for the wine on Monday at 1pm and the Tequila on Thursday at 2pm. Hopping from wine to tequila in one day might be too much for me.
Tammy
You poor thing! I would be in panic mode as well. When is your flight out? Hopefully it’s soon. I hope everything works out. I'm trying not to panic but we were soooo excited about this cruise and I didn't by trip insurance so I just hope that this thing doesn't get out of hand before we leave. I would be ok with skipping Cozumel because we've been there three times but it is our favorite port.
On top of that we got very hard rain last night and half of the city of Houston is flooded. They have canceled school for most of the school districts.
Sonya honey -- we will all be praying that things work out. Just a few more days. They said on the news last night that in a week's time we will know if it this is really a major issue or if it is just a passing thing. I would have to say with all of the precautions everyone is taking, I can't imagine it will get that far out of hand. Am I too hopeful? Maybe but rather think positive about the whole thing. Also, there was a young kid on the news last night from NY who had the swine flu. He was fine -- I mean as if he had nothing. He thought it was allergies. It seems the flu that is here in the US is milder than the normal flu. Hopefully it will stay that way.
Tiffany -- bummer on the flooding. We have had a ton of rain here too but not at those levels. I just want to see the sun again. It certinaly doesn't feel like Texas right now.
Tammy -- thanks for the time and agree with you on wine at 1 on Monday and tequila on Thursday at 2. If anyone else has preferences, let me know and I will start tracking who is going when.
Nick - I'll put you down for everything! ;) Let me know if you DW would like to join us too.
Ok, off to the office today. Remember to wash your hands everyone!!!! :goodvibes
Have a good day!
she wont but i think my bro will. both of us in the military, so you know the booze will fly. we both need it.
Good morning everyone!
Does anyone know how many carry on bags each person can bring on the ship? Is it only one carry on per group or per person?
Sonya -- I have scoured the web and don't see any reports of any airlines cancelling flights to the US. There are reports of tourist flights from Germany to Cancun being cancelled but that is it. Where did you see that? Just curious. I am hoping it is just a rumor??
Nick -- Yoni is a Finn so if you can imagine, drinks like a fish (when I let him :lmao:). I am guessing you 2 will get along just fine. I'll put you both down for the tastings....more on times and days later. Now off to work!
Gordon--I forgot I was going to ask last night if Lacy has JRA. I noticed your comment about her arthritis & meds. Is she on an immunosuppressant (such as Enbrel, Humira, Kineret, etc.) that increases the risk of infection? Hopefully her doc can advise you about taking extra precautions. I come across quite a few patients with JRA since I'm a transcriptionist for a rheumatologist and three ophthalmologists.
So, as I'm walking into the rheumatologist's office today (he's part of an internal medicine group), in between the double doors, they have a table set up with a sign for any flu symptom patients :sick: to use the hand sanitizer and masks that are sitting there. OMG...I got goosebumps when I saw it. :eek: So far, there haven't been any reported cases in Nebraska (yet!), but our town has a fairly large Hispanic population, so the potential definitely is there. The more I see & hear about it, the more I hope Disney makes the conscious decision to not go to Coz just to protect all of us and their own crew members. I know that would make lots of us sad because of excursions that are planned and being a favorite port for some, but is it worth it? Ugh. I was pretty calm about it yesterday, and then I just keep hearing & reading more and more. Hopefully we'll know lots more in the next 2 weeks, but for Sonya, I hope you can at least get your vacation started in a few days. :worried:
I know you can bring one carry on per person, but I'm not sure what the actual limit is?
