May 16, 2004 / 4 Day Wonder

Thanks for the good web site. Might come in handy.

Woke up to about 2" of snow temps in the low 20's. Man o Man do I need to go where it is warm.
Yesterday we planed a week trip to FL, in Nov, using FF miles to check our property and get a few days use out of our AP's.

Our Malamute puppies are running amuck. That is their job.

OK fellow cruisers shall we plan a meet. How about one at the Port in the terminal at the ship model, let's say ???. Then maybe one some time later for the late arriving folks?

What do you all think? I don't want to have a whole bunch of planned stuff , just a chance to stop and say hi and put a face to a name.

We did a Boons Farm wine tasting on the inaugural western. it was fun, a BYOB event.

I'm game....it would be nice to meet all the fellow Dis'ers.

BTW Lynda, I just received my new steel toe sandals and kevlar leggings (for sharp teeth). :hyper:

I think it would be AWSOME if y'all would schedule a late meet but I think it might be pretty boring for the first-arrivers....All that Hi, I'm....., this is....and we..... twice in one day could be deadly, although the Boone's Farm could put an interesting spin on it. I know that I'll be recognizable for the duration of the cruise...Look for the black dog and say Hi to his handler...Me...! It'll be a first and will really brighten my day...As I learned at WDW in January, strangers will pass me and say "Hi" to Cash (as though he cares) and ignore me completely.....like being invisible.
I'll try to make an early meet but may have, during the 4 days at WDW, developed responsibilities within the wheelchair group that's taking this cruise....
I just found out, too, that the 14th is the first day of the Star Wars Celebration at MGM...anyone want me to get an autograph from a Wookie for their dd or ds? Cash, by the way, is a Wookie magnet....I think it's the hairy feet they have in common.

I tried to sign up for the Blue Lagoon Beach Day yesterday but have to wait a couple of weeks for DCL to check and see if Cash will be allowed to go....Interesting, visiting an ADA-less foreign country...Wonder what else we won't be allowed to do?
I did sign up for the Dolphin encounter (not through DCL, an excursion that, I understand, DCL is cancelling) but if the taxis won't take Cash, I won't be able to go.....hmmm. This should be even more interesting.

sigh.....

Just give me a shout when you see me run past the model ship frantically chasing my two youngsters around (one with blonde hair and one with brown hair). Actually, now that I think about it, you will probably see them chasing me

Sounds like later may be better, given late arrivals, making reservations... etc.

Any ideas as to a time and place??? Would 3:00 to 3:30 work?? Then cut a run for the safety drill.

Might do a few laps with Scottie...

3:00 will be good to meet as long as we already have our Palo reservations in order and the kids are signed up in the clubs, etc.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone have any past experience or information on how much money will be needed for the cash (or credit) onboard account? I know that this varies per person and depends on what you plan on spending for excursions, drinks, souveniers. etc., but I am trying to get a rough idea of how much money we will need to budget for.

I've read threads that said they spent anywhere from 300.00 to 2000.00. on board. I guess it all depends on how much you budget for the trip. We set a limit:hyper:. We shall see.

I can't even imagine spending 2,000.00 for a 4-day cruise. I was thinking in the halfway range of like 1,000.00. I am hoping that is not too little

anna, dont go crazy with the souvenirs for everyone, you will be fine. Dont worry about it too much.

you never told me how much you were planning to bring for you and the kids??????????? Are you letting the kids have the KTTW card to charge on their own?

KTTW ??? what, are you crazy? I let you have mine the other day and you couldnt control it. Why would I trust the kids? LOL. Well, maybe just Alyssa. I may let her control the other two.

I can’t recall the exact amount we spent on our previous 4-night cruise. We had a few spa treatments, tips, few drinks, and a couple of low cost excursions at Castaway Cay, and some souvenirs included. I was to say it was between $800-$1100 for three adults and two kids. As already mentioned, the figure will defiantly vary!

Of all the threads I have read, the average seems to be around $1000. Thats not bad at all. If you get crazy, of course it will be more, and if you are thrifty, less. Either way, it's still gonna be fun..

Be sure to have a little "cushion" in your budget. You'd be amazed how quickly the "little things" add up. Shore excursions for an entire family can be quite a chunk and those little tropical drinks (even the non-alcoholic ones) can be quite a sum before you know it I always spend more than I think I will, and I'm one of those silly bean counters that add up every purchase everytime I return to my room.

Please tell me I'm not the only person who brings a calculator on vacation.

Yes...it is a sad little life I lead.

We keep a journal of all our trips and Lynn keeps track of the receipts to figure out what the trip really cost us. Can be  and then again it can be :hyper: but never :( .

Amymouse has a very good point about the drinks adding up, we are not big drinkers but have been with friends who have had a bar tab over $500, for a 7 day. That would not be that hard to do.

I am not that much of a drinker, either, but this IS vacation. LOL. If I pay at the end of each night, it will not seem like a big chunk at the end. :upsidedow

I prefer not to pay for too many drinks, so I will expect all of my fellow Winter Recovery Cruisers to let me use their room number to charge any “drinks of the day” I may purchase
:hyper:

Boy will the folks in the Disney Suite be surprised when we all show up and say Glenn sent us:jester:
