May 16, 2004 / 4 Day Wonder

I called Delta today and was able to get a $30 credit for one of our four tickets since prices went down. Unfortunately, they only had one seat left at the lower price so that was all we were able to snag in the way of a credit. Oh well $30 credit for future travel is better then no credit in my book!
Well, I guess I won't mention the size of my credit from Southwest...I had NO idea that they only made as many credits as seats were still available or I would have talked myself out of even calling!...But, as I only had one ticket and one credit to try for, I guess it was no trouble for them to find one seat.... In this case, I see where traveling solo can pay off...Sorry you weren't luckier!

I'm completely annoyed at Delta today. I called to ask if I could change one of our flights without paying a penalty. I've done this before, always knowing my motto is "why not, the worst they can do is say no."

Well, that is no longer the WORST they can do. Apparently the worst they can do is take the opportunity to belittle their loyal customers. The rep took a little too much pleasure in reminding me that "you knew full well when you purchased your ticket that a penalty would be assessed when changing your ticket, so let's both be ADULTS here."

Adults? What part of what I was asking made me LESS than an adult?

He then informed me that Delta arranges its flights and creates its fee schedules to "maximize its revenue." What a lovely term for "we're out to make all the money we can without regard to customer service."

I'd hate to think what he would have called me if I had called to ask for a CREDIT. I think the moderator would have had to bleep it out if I had tried to post it.

Okay, I'm done venting. On with the FUN!!!

Venting is good.........BTW, got docs today, it's getting close now!

Ooooh! Yea for you!

I just got an e-mail from my travel agent. She didn't say anything about my docs, but she did remind me to send in my deposits for my Wonder cruise in October with my sisters. What a great year this is going to be. I've just got to hope that the overtime keeps on coming!

Come on docs!!!

I think I just experienced "mood whiplash!"

Just called home and advised thqt documents are being seen by others and to have Lynn keep an eye out whilst I am on the road. Nada there yet, it would be fun to get home and see them there.

Airlines can be ery frustrating to deal with that is for sure. Glad to hear some of you are getting credits. Might give Delta a call to see if the ATL to MCO leg has a better deal.

I don't know, Scott. It was the ATL to MCO leg I was trying to change when I got the condescending rep.

What the heck! Give 'em a call. Hopefully you'll have better luck. And if you don't have better luck, I owe you a venting session anyway. Bring it on!

Amy,
Just checked the ATL to MCO segment and the fares have not dropped at all. Our air arrangements for this trip are very conveluted as we are using a combo of FF miles and paying for some legs. ATL-MCO is paid as well as MBJ to CUR segments.

If you are interested I think I have Delta Customer Service address at home should you wish to write a letter. This I think is an example of out sourcing various services by the airlines that cuts back customer service.

Feel free to vent, It comes with the territory and I am very used to it:) .

I forgot,

It could also mean the flights are very full for that time period so make sure you are there early.

Sadly this would not be a time when an oversold flight would be worth taking teh bump for a free ticket.

That's funny that you mentioned outsourcing. Because during the entire conversation I was picturing this man sitting in a tiny little cubicle in India. He just had "outsourced" written all over him.

You're definitely right about a free ticket not being worth the bump this time. I'm ready to get to the pier bright and early. I woudn't take a bump for all the tea in China (or India).

I am with ya on that one Amy... Want to get there very early.

Called home and no documents yet. Spent the last 30 min trying to get the high speed network going here, new hotel, tech support was a guy in a little cubical. Said to wait 15 min. New hotel. Oh well. Using dial up.

I WANT MY DOCUMENTS!!!!!! there I feel better. Thanks.

I got an e-mail from my TA last night. My documents are on the way to her. So it won't be much longer!

I love getting documents. It means all is well in my world.

I sure did, Annae! You have a reply waiting for you.

I'm pretty sure I'm about to die. Today is my last day off before my trip to Disney next week. So I've been running errands ever since I got off work this morning. I've got to stay awake for a few more hours, or my sleep schedule will be completely messed up for going back to work tomorrow. If I can go to bed late enough that I won't wake up until 8 or 9 a.m. I'll be fine. Any earlier and I'll be toast by 2 am at work.

I've already done way too much house work for one day, the cat boxes are clean and sparkly, and I draw the line at trimming the hedges when I've had no sleep (I'll keep all ten of my God-given fingers, thank you.) So I guess I'll just have keep myself awake by lurking around on the DIS. I probably shouldn't post too much in my sleepy state, though. There's no telling what I might say. Come to think of it, it couldn't be any worse than my usual posts.

Everyone have a good rest of the day! I'll be hallucinating by 9 pm!

Oh well, I made it until 8:30 pm before falling asleep. Which was good. Yet here I sit at 1:00 am, AWAKE again. That wasn't in the plan. Hmmm. Maybe a little Benadryl, or a sledgehammer.

Hmm. Maybe that explains why I didn't fall back to sleep until I put my TV on TOON Disney

Good news for me…I was able to snag a second credit back for $37.00 from Delta just now. That leaves me two more tickets to go before May 14th!

Checked with MIL- no cruise docs yet
:(

Still no documents here yet, Oh well will stake out the Fed Ex building next week.

Good to hear you got a credit. I checked our fare and it did not drop at all.

It snowed again here yesterday and it is rather chilly here this morning.
