After talking with two doctors , IF Covid vaccine is ready for rollout AND it takes 4-6 months to distribute what are the odds (In your honest opinion) that this cruise will happen? FYI my entire family would been the first group to receive. GO!!

Just like our April 2021 cruise... I think chances are slim ... but yeah, I’ll be getting that vaccine as soon as possible!

We’re on April 2021 DCL Dream cruise and I am confident it will go out. DCL is not waiting for a vaccine prior to starting back up operations. Anyone who claims they are is just speculating. If you listen to the 09/01 Port of Galveston meeting, Port Director Rodger Rees details his discussions he had with DCL. Mr. Rees stated that DCL said the ban is what is holding them back. According to Rodger Rees, DCL stated that if the ban ends, they intend to get back out there. So if the CDC ban ends here in a few days, I wouldn’t be surprised if DCL starts cutting deals for ports/training up crew and resumes operations mid December according to their current bookable itineraries. If they start bringing back crew, that will be the tell, so you should know long before your cruise.

If you are among the first, sounds like you are higher risk. Vaccines require a certain critical mass to really be effective and it is unlikely most of the ship will be vaccinated.

I work at a Senior Living facility and my husband will be vaccinated by them. Our daughter is a nurse. So hope this happens soon!

We're on the cruise the week before you (May 8). Trying to stay optimistic for us both!🤞

I'm guessing by May 15th you are on a Fantasy sailing..? If so you'd be trying to visit Castaway Cay (Bahamas is probably a good bet), US Virgin Islands (probably a good bet) and Tortola (maybe an OK bet..?). I'd think it more likely to sail without changes if it were a shorter cruise or didn't visit the BVI, but if I had to bet today I'd say DCL will be running in some fashion by May of next year, sure.

I don't know anything more than anyone else though... just a guess. :surfweb:

We are booked for Alaska 5/31 and I don’t plan to go.... not sure if cruising will be allowed there yet and/or not sure we’ll be comfortable yet (likely not since we don’t plan to get the vaccine for a while).

Being overly optomistic I would say the odds are 50-50 of your cruise going.

Vaccine isn't the issue I am most concerned about, whether any ports will be open to ships to dock at is my biggest concern.

Vaccine, if they get approval for one, it appears it will be after your cruise before it is widely distributed. June at the earliest. And of course people wanting to take cruises will be at the bottom of the list to get the vaccine, behind health care workers and those at risk. And of course all the crew on the ship are going to need vaccines too.

And of course CDC needs to sign off on all of the above.

I would give the cruise 70-75% chance of sailing.

I think they may sail without a vaccine.

I think there is a near 100% chance of the cruise not being the "same" however.

However, we can only hope that the vaccine gets distributed as fast as possible.

Only time will tell however.

I expect cruises will begin before a vaccination is widely available or distributed. I highly doubt the majority of passengers will have been vaccinated by mid-May. Since your question appears to focus on the expectation of a vaccine roll-out by then, are you comfortable sailing before that milestone is reached? Even if your entire party has been vaccinated by then, that won't provide blanket immunity from the disease.
