May 14, 2011 - Eastbound TransAtlantic

I have been working with Daniel Tours as well, our day in Maderia is my birthday. I am open to joining a larger tour with you guys or if anybody wants to join me for a smaller group, I.e. Two more people for a west coast tour including the volcanic pools, the price would be 36 ish euros per person. Slightly higher than going with a larger group. If you Pefer a smaller group let me know.

Also just so everybody knows the Toboggan ride closes at 1 on Sunday's. We will be there on Sunday May 22.

I am interested in joining a smaller group. I am currently booked on the West Madeira tour through DCl. Would you please send me the itinerary?

Thanks,
Christi

We just booked the Northern Madeira tour on Strawberry Tours. They set us up with a van for 8 with six people plus an english speaking driver for 29 Euros per person. Their website shows both big tour buses and smaller vans. Just passing along the info for those looking for something in Madeira. All day tour with pick up and drop off at the dock.

Still no upgrade from an 11B. :confused3

Hi Everyone,

We just booked today:-) Yipee:-) So will be joining you. Is it too late to join the FE list? I'm guessing it probably is, but if not then we would love to join please. There will be three of us in our Cabin, Myself (Vicky), my Mum (Janet) and my little girl (Elizabeth) age three.

We cruised three times with Disney last year in Europe, but none of us have ever been to Florida or Castaway Cay, so would definately appreciate any tips about that side of the journey. We get into Orlando airport at 3p.m. on the 13th and are staying somewhere on International Drive - apparently we'll be told where later (we booked as a package deal). I'm guessing we'll be too shattered to do much, but it would be fun to eat dinner somewhere memorable - the food is less important than the place, but it would be great to start the holiday off doing something fun. Any other must sees in the short space of time we have wouold definately be appreciated.

We haven't booked transfers yet, are taxis usually easy to get? Are there any regulations about travelling with a three year old - would we need to bring a booster seat with us?

Also feeling the need to visit a disney store whilst we're there:-) Is there a store at the port? Is there more choice on Castaway Cay than on the ship? Any other tips or things we should know for Castaway Cay?

Would really appreciate any help, feeling a little disorganised booking so late in the day

Best Wishes
Vicky

Hi Vicky! Welcome!

Is it too late to join the FE list?

Looks to me like the Fish Extender group 3 is still open. You can find it (and all the other EBTA details) on the Google spreadsheet. [GRRRR! DIS won't let me post the link for you until I have made more forum posts. Sorry! You can find the link in the first post of one of the two EBTA cruise meet links.]

Regarding a Disney store, there's a great store (set of stores, actually) in Orlando called Downtown Disney. We *loved* that and will really miss it this trip. No need to pay admission as it's not a part of the parks. Just stores and restaurants with Disney cleanliness and friendliness!

It looks like all the Candy Swap names have been erased from the Google Spreadsheet. Do you have them written down somewhere else, Krisann? Or should we sign-up again?

I say you need to book this cruise too :thumbsup2

I'm just now getting to really looking at ports We do our own 90% of the time
need to go back and check what you posted better

but 2 adults and 1 three year old maybe interested

Though one of you is booked on Strawberry tours, if any or all of you are interested in Daniel Taxis, please let me know and I will contact them on your behalf. If you want to check the website for details of our tour that they made for the 2010 WBTA, you can see all of the things they offered. If you are interested in my help, please let me know via PM.

I have closed out Candy Swap (chocolate and candy) #1 as it had reached 25 people in each group.

We are now ready to do Candy Swap #2 - will keep them open till we reach 25 again to keep it low - this is not cabins but actual people in cabins. Everyone will need to purchase 25 pieces of Candy for each group they are in. Candy should be snack bar size - but you may do any size you wish or a "baggie" of candy as long as there is one for each person in the cabin (or the number on the sheet for the cabin). If you are in group one - you may also participate in group 2 now but the one thing I ask is you do a different candy for each group!

So now you may go to the spead sheet and sign up for group #2

Sorry I just pulled them to start group #2 - I have the names and will send them out today to everyone! Do not sign up again unless you want to do a 2nd swap!

I added them back to the spreadsheets - so there is a Candy Swap 1 - which is closed - tab along with the candy swap 2 (that just opened!)

Noel, Thank you for offering but I have already been working with Daniel tours for a couple of weeks. I believe I will be keeping to a smaller group. Should I negotiate the price?

Christi and Lisa I sent you a PM. Let me know your thoughts.

Not a problem. The reason I was able to negotiate a lower price is I had arranged for 15 vans with about 8 per van. I made signs similar to the DCL for each van allowing each van to set off at its own pace on the same itinerary. We all met on the dock by group and once complete, the group set off on the tour. At the end of the tour, some went to Old Blandy's for tasting and some had the van driver take them back to the ship.

I still haven't posted enough to send PMs on the DIS boards so can someone please include me in a group tour of Madeira? Doesn't have to be long but I would like to see some of it while we're there. My kids are not old enough for the Port Excursion-sponsored tour.

I will be happy to add you if there will be an organized tour. Would you tell me how many are in your party, first names, ages of children. I will be happy to contact Daniel Taxi on your behalf if you would like. You can just go to my name and post a message to me.

Thanks, Krisann! I see both tabs now for the Candy Swap. Can someone explain the details of how it works? Do you just choose some secret time to distribute your candy to the fish extenders of the rest of your candy group? Or is there a set swap time?

Thanks, Noel! I think this post will allow me to send you a private message. I'll get you the info!

We also booked with Strawberry Tours, but they told us we could only take the half day tour. There are two of us and we would like to join your tour if this would be possible.

Rethinking Barcelona excursion. I have Montserrat full day booked.
I was thinking about exploring the city on my own. How safe is it and would you go by yourself?

Thanks,
Christi

My DH John and I spent a week in Barcelona before last years WBTA. We walked everywhere and felt quite safe. However, one should be cautious with not displaying expensive cameras. Our camera was on a PacSafe strap and I carried a PacSafe purse as we know there are pickpockets there in the city.

I have a Pacsafe purse. I am planning on using caution. Can I walk to town from the ship or will I need to take a taxi?

Thanks.

Hi Everyone,

We just booked the cruise yesterday! It will me my mom, Karen, my daughter, Lauren(18), and myself, Jennifer. My daughter and I have been on two other Disney cruises with my husband and other daughter, but they can't make it this time. It is my Mom's first cruise!

Would we be able to join in some of the activities, or is it to late? Trying to sift thru the posts to see what you all have planned.
