May 14, 2011 - Eastbound TransAtlantic

Hey Anik! We are in the same area of the ship - we actually have one of the rooms right next to the secret deck. We have been in this room before on the Disney Wonder and this area of this ship is pretty peaceful. The only noise you really get is on port days you can hear and even feel the engines, which is ok by me because it usually gets me up and outside to see the approach to the port. But one those loooooooooong days at sea you and your husband should find nothing but tranquility in your stateroom. See you soon - neighbor!

Monique

Thanks for the info Monique, we are usually up and about pretty early. Well, I am anyway :rotfl: My husband can sleep through anything :rotfl2: We want to make the most of our cruise time, so we usually get up early and my husband will take a nap in the afternoon while I find a good spot to read. Sounds like the secret deck will be great for that, but I will probably find other places on deck 9, just because I love being with people ! :)

Just added to the schedule the group photo on the red day at 11:00 in the atrium. I will go to Shutters when we get on board to see about a CM to come and take it from up above and maybe get them to do a cool border ! :)

Congrats to all those that got upgrades! :thumbsup2

I'm a bit sad that they didn't move us up from 9d to 9b before filling the 9's with GTY's, though. I think we are out of the running for an upgrade. I won't even try at port, because the most important thing to me is keeping our connecting door. With them filling up the ship, before moving us, I don't think the connecting door rooms will be left. So we will be happy with what we have ;)

We are in the exact same boat (pun not intended!). We are 9d as well and when I saw everyone being upgraded I was kind of hoping for it but my DH figured it was unlikely because we have connecting doors...and we do not want to lose that since my mother and daughter are in the 2nd room.

It's my first cruise so I won't know what I am missing out on anyways! ;) Is there a big difference between d and b?

Just received my 11 C gty assignment - deck 2 aft - no upgrade here - <small pout>:) - but I knew it was a gamble when I selected it - CONGRATS! to all the upgrades:love: - can I just peek in your room when I need to see daylight:laughing: -

Another deck 2 resident. We are in 2066.
Everyone remember to update rollcall, Fe list, and event page. :)

It seems I was moved from our 9A to an 5B but the cabin given seems to me to be a connecting cabin. I wondered if they wouldn't somehow end up moving us again if they suddenly need that connecting cabin. Who knows, but I will continue to check occasionally just to make sure.

Exactly! The most important thing to me is the connecting door because my MIL and kids are next door. We will leave the door open often.

The BIG difference between 9d (deck one) and 9c (deck 2 forward and aft) or b (deck 2 midship), is the one big porthole vs two small portholes. That is why I was hoping for 9b, I wanted more natural light and a view. I actually think there will be benefits to being on deck 1 over deck 2...it should be quieter because there are less staterooms and when we got off the ship at ports, we are right there! no need to wait for elevators (for my MIL). 9a's are the porthole rooms up on the higher decks and all forward. They are very nice and folks love them, but I do NOT want to be forward (I'll take aft!) so I was not hoping for 9a.

I'm afraid that the 2 small portholes will not let in enough light. I'm also doubtful that you can have much of a view out of them. If my deck one staterooms each had one big porthole, I would think they were perfect!

It will be great to have your family on the same deck :goodvibes. We have one other diser on deck one that I know of....she is booked in the very last room towards aft.

Good news that everyone now knows their rooms! I think that should be all of our DIS group now :thumbsup2

LANYARD HELP: I need everyone that has contributed to the lanyard cost (you know who you are) to please go out to the spreadsheet (find the link on the first page of the DIS meet thread for our cruise) and find the tab that says Lanyard Team - I have everyone's first name in there - but I need your DIS name also - I do not have a list of both - thanks for the help

Heidi, do you think everyone has updated their information on the Roll-Call sheet yet?? I updated our cabin # on the sheet this morning, but found a good handful of GTY (pending assignment) :confused3

I didn't even think to check for that! I just noticed that we had about 5 or so of you waiting through the weekend for numbers and have now reported what you got...so I thought we were all done. Perhaps they haven't handed out rooms to everyone yet, but I'm thinking folks may not have gotton around to updating yet. I know one family is away from home right now and won't be back until mid month.

what cabin? We are on deck 6 too - MIL has an inside across the hall from our balcony (this is what we booked - no upgrades either)

Krisann

If you booked across the hall or a connecting stateroom, DCL would have blocked you from an upgrade as they would not be able to guarentee you the cabin arrangements that you had booked.
It would be awful if you got an upgrade to a different deck and the fam stayed put or vice versa.
I did not get an upgrade because I am in the special "No UPGRADE FOR YOU!" club!!!

actually we were just a GTY for a 5c and MIL was GTY for the "inside GTY" new program - so we did not even know if we would be anywhere near each other. I knew we most likely would not get an upgrade as we were alread in a verandah room but did not know if MIL would to be next to us - but we are very pleased that she is right across the hall from us - which is great for us - I am not a big connecting room person anyway.

please email me at akblair@charter.net - I would be glad to get them some items, including magnets - I will also tell you about my FE gift and I have enough for their group but I need some info. I am also in charge of the lanyards and we have extras if you think they might like one, especially since this is their first cruise - just minus name tags.

Krisann

Get the cabin # and I will be happy to leave magnets for her....

I would also be happy to leave something for her if you let me know the cabin number.:)

Thank you all for your kindness. They just returned from a week Carnival cruise yesterday. It was our spring break. They are in a GTY cabin. I'll let you know when she finds out. If I can ever do anything for you all on a future cruise please let me know.
Krisann- I will also email you. Thank you for your generosity.

The little girls' face will be such a picture when she discovers them on her door :goodvibes

I wish I could be there to see her face too. She is such a sweet little girl!
