May 14, 2011 - Eastbound TransAtlantic

whoever posted the shipping guidelines post again or even better post to the 1st page or part of the roll call. I can't find it.

It also may mean absolutely nothing other than that there are cabins available. On last year's EBTA and EBTA, the ship was not full (or even close to full), but there were still many of us in cat 11s while cat 8-9s were empty. There were cabins available to purchase at the port if desired.

Yeah, we can hope for pixie dust!

wonder how much an upgrade at the port from a inside to a oceanview/verandah is compared to current online price?

Thanks for joining in with my party spirit guys; I had not heard Pink's raise your glass before and will now add this to my ipod. I have listened to it this morning and now have happy feet again. I might have to go for a lie down now though to conserve energy for the cruise..:Pinkbounc I am a retiree after all LOL :rotfl:

:cool1: happy feet

I've read reports of port upgrades being expensive (same as you would have paid to upgrade online before the cruise, more than what was offered by phone (to some, not everyone gets called and offered an upgrade)) for the EBTA 2007, and cheap (less than what was offered by phone (to some), much less than upgrading online) for the EBTA 2010. It would be nice if there were great deals for this year, but they may go back to the expensive quotes of past years.

FYI: You can send packages ahead of time to the Port, I have done this with my FE and will do again! Hope this helps some of you out.

Boxes Sent the Ship Ahead of Cruise - PLEASE follow these instructions carefully!!!!!! UPDATED AS OF 2/25/2009
• ONE box per stateroom, no exceptions.
• The package must have the guest full name, ship, sailing date, stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number.
• The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.
• NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC.. Items that cannot be shipped to the Disney Cruise Line Warehouse and delivered to the ship include: food products (any and all food products including baby food/formula), beverages (liquor, water, etc.), chemicals, and luggage. These items will not be accepted at the warehouse and will be returned. This may cause the dogs to hit on your box and that would be a bad thing.
• The required size of the cartons you are shipping down have to be about the size of a record storage box 12 inches on a side and should not weigh more than 20 lbs. (This has been asked personally by Dave Adams who is the owner)

Address your package(s) to:
Disney Cruise Line Warehouse
Guest Name / Stateroom # (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
8633 Transport Drive
Orlando, FL 32832
Phone: 407-566-8196

In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information: ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING
*Name
*Sail Date
*Ship
*Stateroom Number
*Packing slip that details contents of the package (for prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient)
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 7-Night Cruise on the Disney Magic (Saturday).
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 4-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Sunday).
• Packages must arrive by Wednesday by 3:00pm for the 3-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Thursday).

If your box is hit on by the screening dog or chosen for additional screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. They will close it back up and provided nothing bad is in it then it will be in your room as usual later after boarding. These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail among other things so they may be in the staterooms later then they were before as they are low priority in the scheme of things for Disney

for TwoKings...hope this helps!

woo hoo you are on a roll! We still haven't figured out what to give, too many cool ideas keep floating back and forth between Missy and I.:banana:

Yes, and we need to narrow it down quickly so we can get them done!!!:scared1:

We need to finish our excursions first though, don't you think?

hi all,

well I think we finally decided what excursions & things we are going to do

Castaway Cay - snorkelling with the catamaran for the morning ( this will be a first for me - not sure about the breathing through a tube bit - and hoping my contact lenses won't float away :) )

Gibraltar - early morning walking tour (got to make the most of the day)

Has anyone else booked these ?

In Cadiz / Barcleona and Maderia we are going to wing it - and may do the hop on hop off bus tours - we have done them in several cities before and have found them enjoyable. Or maybe we will just see what hapens when we get into the ports.

In Gibraltar, i m doing the 8am walking tour. I plan on spending the rest of the afternoon exploring on my own and doing some shopping. I collect Christmas ornaments from everywhere I travel. So, I will be searching for one.

I've been AWOL, but I'm back having just read 10 pages of posts! We're super excited and counting down the days to departure. Can't wait to meet all of you!

This is only our 2nd DIS cruise and 1st time joining a Disboard group and FE's. Yes, we're virgins!!! I'm recycling 3 small canvas bags that we have and sewing them together in a line for our fish extender, figuring one for DH and I, and one for each DD. We've chosen a theme and will decorate the bags accordingly. Does this sound right? Also, we're doing a bit of a NJ theme FE gift even though we're all transplants from other states, except my 5 y/o who was born here. I did a disboard search and saw some unbelievable handmade things (scrapbooks, custom picture frames) from past cruisers - very intimidating! I just don't have time for that, but I don't want new friends on the ship to think my gifts are boing or cheap! How much do most people spend per FE? Help! I'd appreciate any feedback y'all can give me!

Krisann, Thanks for organizing the lanyards and for all of the information regarding "what to expect" when we disembark in BCN! I love the sage advice from a seasoned alum!

Heather, Thanks for organizing the champagne girls! I don't care what it costs, I'm in!

Cheers!
Susan

Still aboard and we did check in on the list.

Just been really busy with kids' school, medical appointments for youngest, and arranging college visits with oldest. And she's been freaking out that her work won't be done and she'll have to take her Pre-calc book on the trip. She took Physics on the Med, so I guess that's okay.

We're hoping to pay for an upgrade at the port. Our friend upgraded on a Med cruise to a suite, and said it was much cheaper than the offered price. But I'm sure that's way out of our price range anyway.

From DCL:

Heather,
Please send me your requested dates/times. We then submit the request for space to the ship. Once confirmed we will let you know the time and date. Please send your first and second options.
1 week prior to sailing, we would need a list of the guest attending and their stateroom numbers. We charge the $20 pp surcharge onboard the ship to each guest folio account.

Give me your thoughts on dates and I'll respond to them!

Wow there are many posts! Hey I am new here and going on this cruise with my family (I am on the spreadsheet but that's all I got to a while back!). This will be my family's first cruise (except for my mom who is coming with us). I'm going with my husband and 2 kids (1 and 4). I am so excited and can't wait!!!

I am trying to skim through the posts because there is interesting info, especially for a first timer, but it's not easy! ;) The whole board is quite overwhelming...but I guess I will get used to it!

So hi everyone! :)

We plan to use the HOHO bus in a couple of ports as well :thumbsup2
