May 14, 2011 - Eastbound TransAtlantic

Hi! I would so love to be joining you guys! We had our first DCL cruise on the Magic last Fall and have been trying to find a way back ever since.

We have a lot of "ifs"...IF, DH can change jobs in May and IF the new one will let him start later, we might be able to swing this booking GTY.

But, how are you all getting back to the U.S.? The one-way tix from Europe are insane.

Just in case we can make this happen, I'm doing research. Any airfare tips are appreciated. Thanks!

repositioning cruises are notorious for being inexpensive. my sis just added last week and disney actually had the best deal. she is in ATL and for $850 she got one way ATL-MCO and BCN-ATL and of course all transfers. I booked separately because the one-way to Toronto was only 400CDN and I live there. Check with Disney then check all the usual booking sites.

All assignments have been sent.. If you did not get yours please let me know. Thanks

Will there be another candy exchange group.?
We would like to join

Yes - I need to go and check on group #2 - I will split off any that are over the 25 and form group 3 - so go ahead and sign up on group 2 and I will let everyone know if I move them to group 3 - it is still only 25 per group.

Would any of the kids be interested in a book exchange? My 8 y/o DD, Sophia, loves to read chapter books and is starting to contemplate how many books to pack. She reads at the 3rd or 4th grade level. If there's interest in a kid's book exchange, I wouldn't mind organizing this activity.

I also have a 5 y/o daughter who is reading Kindergarten level books. We could exchange easy readers and bedtime story books for the younger kids too.

Any interest out there?

we would love to participate 7yo reads chapter books 3rd-6th grade and the 3yo twins can;t read but we can swap anything to read to them for easy readers- have only read pages ~90- to end & 50-60..... not sure when I will catch up with the other 80 pages.....

Welcome to our group.... on the first page of this thread you will find a link to our roll call. Please sign up. At the bottom of the roll call are tabs to different events like, FE, Candy swap, Secret Mickey(it closes tonight), etc.. Also you will find a link for our FB. If you are on FB please join us. We chat there everyday.

Thanks for the welcome. I signed up on the spreadsheet. Missed Secret Mickey deadline but think we would love to do the FE but I need to figure out exactly what it is & make sure I will have time to get everything. Hopefully I will find a quick summary about FE somewhere on this thread.

Hi Everyone

I have just booked this cruise for myself (Krystyne) and my daughter (Angeline,19). We will also be on the 11 night Mediterranean  immediately after this one. This is our 3rd Disney cruise but our first Transatlantic. Angeline was quite ill on the other 2 cruises as she was suffering badly from crohn's disease  but it is in remission now :yay: and she is so excited. We are both looking forward to meeting new people and hopefully making new :grouphug: friends. Oh, forgot to say we are from Perth, Western Australia.

Welcome to the cruise. My daughter is 19 as well. We are from RI.

Welcome to the new cruisers! Five weeks and we'll be able to put faces with names. :)

That's why I'm loving the FB connection!! :thumbsup2

Lots of people may think I'm a creeper, lol, but I have sent a lot of friend requests to our group too - it's so nice to be able to get a visual.

Welcome to all our new additions!!!! :dance3:

yah i am a creeper too. this has been the best cruise yet chatting everyone up b4 sailing. i too hope we get to meet and keep some new friends. :)

Well got a few more small items today for the FE gift exchange. I sure hope mine comes in the mail soon I really would like to see it. Well 5 weeks to go. Will head out tonight looking to see if I can find any nice dresses and maybe since nice capri pants.

Don't really know what to do about formal night, husband could wear a button up shirt and tie, but he doesn't own a suit jacket. Guess we might have to ship participating those nights.

I think he would be comfortable in his button up with tie, please don't skip! To save on luggage weight, I rented tuxes for my guys. My son would just outgrow any jacket I would buy him, he is in a major growth spurt right now. With two formal nights, I think it will be worth it, they show up to your room pressed, so I add that into the value. My guys were in tuxes last year for the Med. and were in the minority. I saw a number of guys in shirt and tie and no jacket.

Yes... Please don't skip... there will be people there dressed like they are going to the prom or something.. then you see those in nice after 5 dresses... and there is always some that go in their jeans! So no matter what you wear... you will fit right in....

My first cruise was the EBTA last year. (Hi Krisann, we parasailed together)
I really wasn't planning another cruise this year. I was going to wait until 2012, until I heard/saw the rumors that the Magic was not going back to Europe next year. So, I jumped at the new IGT rate, alot of restrictions, no choices.

I have been lurking for awhile so I think I am up to date on what's happening.
Sorry I missed the Secret Mickey. I found the spread sheet and signed up for the FE. I have no time or talent for Homemade crafts and it's probably too late to order anything. Last year I gave custom printed pencils and rubber duckies to all, and special gifts for the kids (there were very few in my group).

Since I will be flying in a day early and have a rental car I thought I would try and buy some stuff, last minute procrastinator that I am, at the Disney Outlet/Discount store? I remember reading about it on the boards. Anyone know precisely where it is?

Thanks, see you all real soon
Pam
