Hooksenemy Thanks for the info :worship:

Hanover Thank you for the heads up on the early seating, I called the next morning and was told that there was a few openings in the early seating, but after getting a hard time due to the fact I booked through a travel agent they said I wasn't allowed to make any changes. I told them that my travel was on a cruise and I couldn't get in touch with them, but he had already put us on the waiting list for early seating. After speaking with her supervisor they made the change. Things are starting to look up. Now we just need the Palo ressies and rainforest and we are all set. pixiedust:

Dr. Cavin I owe you a drink for all the info you post. :drinking1

bpd196-I'm glad you got early dining. One less thing to worry about when you board. My parents AAA travel agent had checked earlier that day and couldn't get them in, so was very surprised when I called saying there were openings that afternoon. I knew my children would never stay awake if we had made the switch to late dining to eat with their grandparents.

Hooksenemy-I got my Oriental Trading order today. Nearly didn't open it since my little one was home and knew I got the package (he thought it was a birthday gift for him since he got one yesterday). I told him it was for work and went into my office to make sure I got everything. Glad I opened it (thought about just sticking it in the top of the closet) because a couple of the treasure chests full of bubbles had broken and leaked EVERYWHERE inside of the box. Luckily the duckies, pencils and earrings were in their own baggies and I just wiped them down, but the tattoos and eye patches were drenched right through. I called and they are sending new ones.
I am so glad I just didn't go put them away. They'd have leaked all over the closet. The treasure chests have a plastic cover over all of them, but I guess they must have been dropped or something. A couple of the corners of the treasure chests had holes busted in them and were empty. Hopefully the next ones will come without breaking. I'll be sure to pack them in a trash bag for the trip to Orlando. I hope yours come in one piece!

I tried to do the 3-4 booking for Palo, but it wouldn't let me. Maybe because they weren't on our reservation? I'm just glad we all got the same dining time/table. I'm hoping to get us all Palo brunch and get them with us for dinner at Palo, but if we don't we don't. We know we'll have good food regardless.

Is everyone out cruise clothes shopping? *hehe

I wish! We spent the day in a hot sweaty wrestling gym for a Central Pennsylvania Championship. We get to do the same tomorrow. Then we get to go to a 2 hour pitching/batting baseball pre- season practice for Keegan's team. Not much shopping going to happen this weekend unless concession/souvenier stands count.

Dr. Cavin- Hope you had luck getting your children new luggage. We ended up buying extra large rolling duffel bags at BJs. We seem to go through luggage every other year no matter what brand we have purchased (even Samsonite). We figured we can fit a ton of stuff in the duffel bags (way more than our other wider/longer suitcases) and they'll slide under the beds very easily on the ship. We'll bring a hanging suitcase for the formal/dinner clothes and an empty one or two as well for the souveniers we'll buy.

I did order a couple pails for the boys and a flower arrangement for my mom for Mother's Day from The Perfect Gift yesterday. I sure hope they come out nice. I bought the medium sized sand pails with snacks and added glow neclaces, a captain hook light up pen and binoculars. I've seen so many nice pictures from past cruisers that have used Shirley. I tried to order Keegan (who will be celebrating his birthday 5/13) the birthday celebration stateroom kit and they said last week they were sold out. I called yesterday and they said they had plain ones but no Disney characters on them. I'm not paying $35 for generic stuff I can bring myself. We got our younger son the Mickey and gang ones they had last year in stock and they were adorable. I brought them home and could even take them in May and try and put them in the room before Keegan gets there (the ones I didn't cut up for our scrapbook!).

I also called our TA and parents/in-law's TAs and requested the PLA rotation for dinner. I'm so glad we all got early dining and got linked that I won't be terribly uspet if we don't get that rotation, but I thought it was worth the try.

Hi Hanover,

I'm going to call our TA too. I would like to be in Parrot Cay for pirate night. Thanks for the suggestion!

You are welcome. I thought that rotation would be the best since this would seat us in Lumiere's for formal night too. We had Tritons (Lumiere on Magic) for semi -formal night and Parrot Cay for Pirate night last year on the Wonder and it worked out perfect. Great ambiance for the night's attire/activities.

I know that the request isn't a guarantee, but like I said previously, it was worth the try.

Will PLA get us in Lumiere's on formal night and Parrot Cay on pirate night?
DD has been looking at pirate costumes online, but not just for her, but for DH and myself!! We could have worn the costumes DD picked out when we were young, but um, not now! :lmao:

Thanks!

Yes...PLA would do that. Sunday night is formal night and Tuesday night is Pirate's night.

We found some luggage at Target, was ~$40 for a 4 piece set. Nothing spectacular but for the kids it will do...

Did anyone book the St. John Trunk Bay Beach & Snorkel Tour on St. Thomas?

Does anyone want to have a Dis meet while on-board?

Glad you guys found luggage. Makes the trip seem that much closer when you're buying stuff for it.

My family (me, dh, ds8, ds5) and my parents booked the 5 Star St. John snorkel and beach adventure. We really wanted to see St. John and though only my parents and I enjoy snorkeling, thought the kids would love the beach. I want to get some use out of those sand pails from Shirley too! The Birnbaum's Disney Cruise Line 2006 book gave the tour really good reviews. I'm just worried about our youngest getting sick on the way over to St. John. He gets seasick on small boats. Hopefully his pediatrician can recommend something. Last year they told us not to use anything for him and he did fine on the Wonder. He also did fine on the ferry to the Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter. I'm hoping he does ok on the Leylon Sneed from St. Thomas to St. John. I've read some trip reports that have said it can be bumpy. Maybe I'll buy him some of those sea bands. Anyone else's children get seasick and have any remedies to share?

I think it would be nice to be able to meet up with people from the Disboards while on board. I'll have leftover pirate tattoos and eye patches (I think they came in a pack of 6 dozen and 44 respectively) that I'd like to be able to share with anyone that would like them for Pirate's Night.

Hi everyone
I registered the kids, but wasn't able to get a palo res. I will try again on board. Does anyone have a list of what days formal.semi formal pirates night?
I skimmed through the thread, but couldn't find it? Thanks :goodvibes

Formal night is Sunday, Pirate night is Tuesday, Semi-formal is Thursday. On the Yahoo sight listed in my signiture is an excel spreadsheet that comes in handy for planning reservations & such....

Hanover, we booked that excursion as well. Really wanted the Trunk Bay one, but it doesnt show up as available :-(

Just popping in to say "hi". Would also be interested in a DIS meet. Three o'clock on embarkation day in the Promenade Lounge has worked out well on other cruises. Not much going on then and it is easy to find people there. It is not crowded at that time and it is nice and quiet. Just a suggestion, any other ideas?

I was wondering? When did DCL start taking requests for rotation of dinner?

Last cruise was 2 years ago on DCL and you could only request early/late?

We are still trying to get in on early seating, calling again today! Our problem is we are a party of "9" :grouphug: so it is not quite as easy I will request rotation when I call - I would love PLA

Hanover we spent our weekend at a hockey tournament for one of my DS's (9) we had a great time, it was in New Hampshire and it was cold :sad1: As time gets closer it makes these cold days more tolerable however we had a 6AM game on Sat - we were up at 4AM so we could make the rink by 5AM which was tournament rules to arrive 1hr. prior to gametime or potentially forfeit - the bummer of the whole weekend was we lost all of our games - however the upside was we had an awesome time with the kids friends and their parents

I was able to get in a little shopping and bought a pair of slip on sneakers for the trip.

Spoke to DCL today. They do not :sad2: take requests for dining rotation, he said one needs to speak with the Maitre `D (is that correct spelling??) to change dining rotation on embarkation day.
3p in the Promenade lounge sounds great. I can't guarantee DD (age 7) will be there, she wants to make a beeline to the Mickey slide as soon as we get on board ! :lmao:

Anyone coming from NJ??

Hooksenemy- I hope you had luck getting early dining. Keep calling. I really lucked out last week in the middle of the day there happened to be some openings. My Dream Unlimited TA said that he'd write our dining rotation request on our package and though it's not guaranteed, they often occur.
If it doesn't it doesn't, but it would be nice.
Keegan ended up in 3rd place (losing out to the first place winner by 2 points) for 66 lbs in the Central PA division in Gettysburg. Pretty good for his 2nd year of wrestling! One more weekend of tournaments and he's on to only baseball...which means spring...and the cruise will be that much closer.

We'll try to make the Dis meet at 3PM. We will most likely also be at the Mickey Pool as soon as we embark and eat lunch (and try and secure those Palo brunch ressies). Sounds like we'll probably see each other at the pool first! There probably won't be a lot of "Keegan's" on board, so if you hear someone calling "Keegan" it's probably us. Then again there was another Brennan R. in my son's 3-4 year old group last year in the Oceaneer's Club (was a girl though!)

BXIRISHRN-Where in NJ are you from? My father-in-law will be on board the Magic from Morristown. My sister isn't coming this time but lives in Toms River. I lived in Lakehurst as a child for a couple years when my dad was in the Navy.

We live about 13 miles north of Morristown, in Randolph (it's a small world after all) :rotfl: And the snow is almost gone!!

Promenade lounge sounds good, all I have to do is get my DD off the Mickey slide !!

I'm going to try calling my TA to see if we can request PLA dining rotation.
I called Disney and they said they can't take any requests like that, :sad2: we would have to ask the Maitre`D on embarkation day.
