Hi to all of you May planners,
Maybe you can answer a question for me? We have only done the summer, and last July my DH said that was absolutely his last July trip. It was REALLY hot and crowded, more so than on our previous summer trips. Anyway, what I want to know is, how is Memorial Day weekend? I'm sure it's more crowded that other May dates, but is it mobbed? We have a few days off from school, so I was thinking maybe, but we don't want to be there when it's mobbed.
Thanks so much for the imput!

Hi ya luvDisney00!

I will take a stab at this one. In my opinion the crowds build the entire month of May. If you are at Disney the week prior to Memorial Day you will see the crowds build all week. We usually fly out on Memorial Day so I haven't been in a park on that day, but the parks are definately more crowded that weekend than during that week. That week is also more crowded than earlier in May.

Also, if memory serves me correctly, Florida schools get out before Memorial day so you will see more locals. Perhaps is you ask when FL schools get out on another thread someone there will be able to answer. Each school year has a different calendar, but you may want to check on that one.

Star Wars weekends usually are going on during that time as well, which is really cool. My son likes it, but is does draw a crowd at Disney Studios and a lot of congestion around Star Tours. (Last year Star Wars weekends were delayed because of the anniversary celebration in CA.)

If you want to avoid crowds, I would say early May is the way to go.

We are getting ready to watch the Cotton Bowl. It makes me a little sad :sad1: that this will be D-Macs last game for Arkansas. What an awesome athlete.

Have a great New Years Day!

Thanks Newcrew42 I'll keep that in mind. I'm checking our calendar and picking out potential dates. DH and I discussed May 09 so I don' t even know if he'd go for an 08 trip (he's not as big a fan as I am!) but I'll see what I can put together. Wish me luck, and thanks for the help!

Mornin' Mayers. Busy as always here...2 Weeks from today I'll be at Disney! :yay: :woohoo:

I've started packing, it's hard trying to figure out what I'm going to need for the first three weeks and pack that to take on the plane. Luckily since the rest of my family is coming to visit the first week of February, they can bring some more of my stuff with them.

My DBestFriend and I are planning a trip to the Disney Store (and where ever else we feel like) in Omaha next week which will be fun too!

Hey everyone! :goodvibes

So what did everybody get for Christmas???

I got a bunch of DVDs, Gift Cards, and books (all of which I've now read), which was just what I was after :)

I gave a lot of DVDs to my parents and sister

On Christmas eve, we got a package from the Walt Disney company and inside were complimentary amusement park tickets good at WDW, Anaheim, Hong Kong or Paris!!!

Since we are APers and the tickets are only good for one day admission and we aren't planning to travel to Paris or Hong Kong anytime soon, so we are going to do something special. A good friend of ours past away two days before Thanksgiving last month, leaving behind a wife and two little girls, 10 & 12. We are going to take the girls to DL with us for a day of special fun.

So, I need your help here: I want to make their day special, what should we do that is extra special that girls like - all we know is boy stuff.

Thanks in advance!

Seacrest

Seacrest,
That's a wonderful thing you're doing for the girls!

Is anyone going to go to the Pirate and Princess Party? We are going to go.Santa got the girls some new princess costumes so we will bring them. I went to the Disney store today and I am watching to see if they have any pirate stuff for dh. That should be fun.

I want to go...I haven't decided exactly when yet.

Going to see National Treasure 2 and have some dinner. Anyone see it yet?

I saw it last Thursday, it was great! I liked the first one a lot and thought that this one did a good job of following up to it. It was the first movie I saw in the theater in two years.

:yay: HAPPY NEW YEAR MAYERS!! :yay:

Welcome back JO! You got home just in time for some more snow! :rotfl: Glad you had a nice time in SC!

Sulley! :woohoo: Two weeks !! :woohoo: You are so lucky!!

Hope everyone had a fun New Years Eve!

We went to dinner and came home to find that the pump in the basement that keeps the water out had quit and the basement was starting to fill up with water! :scared1: Good thing we only built the house a year and a half ago and haven't finished the basement yet! We had to wait until this morning before anyone was open to get a new pump. So DH is installing it now. What a mess!

Huggie - I finally got to watch the travel channel Disney at Christmastime special that my mom taped me a few weeks ago last night. :santa: It looks so awesome! I kept thinking - I wonder if Huggie saw this and that?!? So did you??? :rotfl: Did you see the gingerbread house at the GF? The kids just loved watching how they make that! Did you see the chocolate boardwalk display at the Boardwalk? How about the chocolate carousel? It all looks so neat! How were the crowds? How was the weather? And Mickey's Christmas party at MK? The kids are pumped for a Disney Christmas trip now, so I need to know these things!!!!! :yay:

Last May.. we all enjoyed relatively short lines for the week before memorial day. We were still there that day, and found that the crowds doubled on that weekend, from the weekend prior... hope that helps.

Hi Shelly, I hope you didn't have any water damage in your new home. Glad you caught the problem early.

:yay: HAPPY NEW YEAR MAYERS!! :yay:

Hi Sulley! Cool Christmas gifts! Do you have high speed internet in your dorms at DCP? My son wants to know about that. He wants to do a semester there. I told him about you going and he is really interested in knowing what it is all about.

Have fun going to Omaha next week! Seacrest

HPN Jo! Glad you and your family made it home safely. Can't wait to see the pics of your trip to SC.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Okay, I will say that we were all asleep for it, but Happy anyway!:goodvibes

We just drove in last night and got home around 9 PM. I am exhausted. We were supposed to go to a friends house today to eat and watch the game but I am too tired and my pajamas feel too good.
I think I will sit around and do nothing all day.:)

SC was wonderful. We had to wear sweaters on Christmas Eve/Day but other than that, a long sleeve shirt was enough. Oh, how I miss that. We rode around with the sunroof open almost every day. Beautiful.

Christmas was wonderful. The kids got too much, as always. I'll post pics later.

Glad everyone is doing good. Talk to you all soon.

Jo

We specifically picked visiting WDW last May two weeks prior Memorial Day weekend because of the crowds during that holiday and the Florida schools getting out the week before. The weather was pleasantly warm and we were able to enjoy everything quite comfortably. We were quite surprised that many rides did not have very long wait times and we enjoyed fun-filled days at all 4 parks.

Hi Guys!

We decided to head down to DL & DCA for couple of hours. Even though the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl are great events around here, there are too many people that show up to those things. It is better we watch the parade from home and if we really want to see the floats in person, they have them setup on a lot for about 5 days where you can go right up to them and see and smell them without the hassle.

Anyways back to Dis...

My wife had her eye on the Mickey Mouse tree skirt before Christmas and she had heard it might be on sale. They didn't have anymore in DL, so we went over to DCA and found a bunch of them and they were on sale 50% off. Save 30 bucks! Happy wife!

While we were at DCA we hit California Screamin' rollercoaster and I taped a onride video. The launch goes from 0-55 mph in 4 seconds!

Check out the video here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=waiM2yRxEA4

I will post my slide show pics tomorrow night.

Hey guys,

I am finally downloading my pics into shutterfly, so you will all hopefully get some disney christmas pics by the end of the day.

I think I need to buy an external hard drive because my laptop cannot handle all these new pics.

So I just changed my dining reservations, I got a very mean man. :sad1: He made me want to hang up on him. But I rearranged some stuff and know I am all set for now.

May 10th Ohana 7:20pm
May 11th Cinderella’s Royal Table Breakfast 8:30 am 6:30 coral reef
May 12th Teppenyaki 7pm
May 13th 4:30pm 1900 park faire Pirate & Princess Party night
May 14th 6:30pm Princess Dinner
May 15th Crystal Palace 9:05am Whispering Canyon Café 5:40pm
